Alison is the best! I took vocal lessons from her for about a year, before my school schedule made it too difficult to manage lessons. She was lovely, encouraging and knowledgeable. Anyone I know who is looking for vocal lessons is referred to her. I continue to practice, and if I have the opportunity to resume lessons she will be the first person I turn to!

Not only did I receive exactly what I was looking for in a voice instructor, but also exactly what I *needed* to make me a better vocalist.
Though Alison is a performer and a teacher, I chose Alison Rizzuto because of her voice therapy background. I figured that her knowledge of vocal physiology would be an excellent resource to help me understand what was happening inside my body as I sang. And I was right, she knows a lot!
Alison’s background in classical, musical theater and operatic singing was starkly in contrast to my folky «conversational» style as she called it. But it was a benefit for me. I enjoyed the challenge of singing with proper technique that also helped me expand my range, control my breathing, project and build confidence that I was on the right track.
Since singing requires no physical instrument (like a guitar) to buy and learn, we sometimes feel it’s easy. And to a certain degree it is. But I quickly learned that to sing well required a lot of thought, discipline and practice. And it was all worth it.
