Really disappointed showed up to spend money and grab some of the rebirth series only to find they are selling them for three times the cost. Never coming back or recommending this spot! EG Comics is a 1000 times better!

I won’t pretend to know a ton about comics. I do know that as a noob, I felt totally comfortable and welcomed both in store and on the phone. The women working were helpful and kind and checked in with me numerous times while I browsed. Although I didn’t meet the guidelines as a subscriber, the worker was polite and gave me all the permanent information in written format. From the untrained eye, the shop seemed clean and well-organized. It was bright and inviting although a bit hard to find as you can’t see it from the parking lots. If you park near the Giant, its a straight shot between the buildings.

A couple years ago I walked in here having not been in a comic shop since the days of ‘Burke Centre Comics’ in the 90’s. Was curious about the newer books out and was recommended ‘Thor: God Butcher’(which was the shite!) Over the years I’ve grown to know the staff and they make recommendations based on the writers and titles I read. This may be a normal occurrence but it’s one that I really appreciate. I love finding something in my box(which I’m always told I don’t have to keep) is something really great to which I question if mild telepathy is in play… It doesn’t bother me that they don’t have tons of back issues as anything I’ve asked for that they don’t have, has been ordered or put on order for me. As a kid I remember going into Burke Centre Comics and I could talk to the people there as a fan of comics with likeminded people and leave feeling happy to share that with someone. The Amazing Comic Shop carries on that same tradition! EXCELSIOR!!!

Conditional Review: I know Phoenix/Laughing Ogre/Amazing Comic shop changes it’s name from time to time but I will assume the same staff and rules are there, so I’m re-posting this review out of the fact it could potentially still apply to this location: (This review was in March of 2015) —- So I just had an experience where I after eight or so minutes browsing two books, had staff come up to me and tell me that reading is not allowed at the store. I could understand where they were coming from and he notified me in a polite manner, but I have been to that location before and end up buying a manga or two. Regardless, with the fact there are ~certain chains~ out there that promote a reading environment and often restock manga faster than L.O. I dont think I’ll be coming to L.O. anytime soon. — Review of the store in totality: Prices — Prices are MSRP meaning the price on the packaging is usually what you are going to pay. Most of the toys and accessories are marked up but this is to be expected from a third party retailer. It’s average comic-store pricing. Stock — They usually do a good job stocking their western comics, however when it comes to manga they don’t do as good a job. For example, certain volumes of One Piece once sold, never appear again. Atmosphere — Really clean and organized store, but feels empty compared to some of the other comic stores I have been to. Staff — Helpful, though more shifted towards western comics Overall: I would give it a 3 or even 4 star, but this experience has me salty

I am a 12 year Army artillery veteran that has been collecting comic books for over 35 years. As I have traveled throughout the United States I have never seen a comic book shop limit or put a limit on you can buy of a certain comic. I have been here and also spend about two to $ 300 a month for the last several months here. I have also bought their books that are jacked up in price A month later because I don’t have it in my collection. I do a lot of grading for my collections through the comic grading system and submit about 60 books a month. I also read the books. Their reasoning is that they cannot sell you more because it will be sold out but the whole point of the subscription service is to have the book reserved. That is why I have a comic book Subscription with Game On Comics in Vienna Virginia and their discounts are better. Louis will go out his way to help you find a book that you want and sometimes he will give you a good deal. Also if you are a subscriber with them you get a free ice cold soda when you go in and pick up your books. Also if you are a subscriber any book on the racks are 10 percent off. At Camille: for someone who has been continuing to buy $ 200-$ 300 a month at your store is that the way you treat your repeat customers and spend a lot of money at your store? And by the way if others want the books they can do subscription through you right? Also your subscription service is not anywhere near what others better shops like game on are offering. Have you ever heard of Cgc? I usually prescreen 60 books every couple months because I am a collector of high-grade comics. Apparently you did not get the point. Read the words carefully because apparently you are not getting the point.

It’s a great place!!! They have a wide but I mean huge selection of comics, books and graphic novels. Also, they have a Manga section which I think it’s amazing, not all comic shops have one and quite a variety of toys and collectibles. You will never find a comic store like this one.

The staff is friendly, make solid recommendations, and have yet to miss pulling a book on my sub list since I started coming to the shop. Don’t be confused by other names it may come under like Laughing Ogre as they have simply changed ownership, but all the rest remains unchanged. So glad they’re nearby!
