It has taken me about 10 years to write this review but as I passed by the store yesterday I remembered that I had never written my review of the experience I encountered when I bought an overstocked laminate floor from Carpet City. To make a long story short I bought 3 rooms of flooring from Dave who offered me a great deal on an overstock floor that he had in his warehouse. After a short time I noticed that the floor was dull and no matter what I did there was no sheen on the floor and it was nothing like the floor that I had purchased previously for the bedrooms. After many phone calls and visits from Dave and the floor salesman it was determined that there was nothing wrong with the floor and that somehow it was something that I had done. As a customer of Carpet City Dave did nothing to try and resolve my problem and I was puzzled why he would go against me and not try to work on my behalf against the floor company. A few years later I spoke to a friend who was in the laminate floor business and he mentioned that he no longer was in the business as there was too great a risk of loss with the floors being exposed to moisture while the floors were being stored. You had to be very careful how the floors were stored to not have them exposed to moisture. When I heard this I remembered that the floor I purchased was an overstock as Dave had mentioned and that I could get a good deal, when I went to pick up the floor it was in a warehouse in Stratford and it all started to click, I had bought a floor that was exposed to moisture and it was nothing that I had done. As I mentioned prior to buying this floor I have 2 bedrooms with Pergo and have never had a problem and it’s been over 15 years and they still look like new. The floor I purchased. from Carpet City after 2 months looked 15 years old. I could have bought those floors anywhere but I chose Carpet City because it was a neighborhood business and not far from where I live. I was taken advantage of and sold a subpar product and then received no customer service but was lead to believe it was something that I had done to damage the floor. I am in the sales business and I work hard for my clients while they are purchasing their trip, while they’re on the trip and after they return. If they have any type of customer service issues we work on their behalf in order to get satisfaction for their clients. This didn’t happen at Carpet City.
