This«hotel restaurant», could fare much better with some advertising, roadside signage and overall promotion. The food is actually very good. Sea scallops and the mozzarella, tomato eggplant for starters. NY Strip and the Hanger Steak were cooked to order and quite tasty. Wine menu very very reasonable. Anthony, out server, very knowledgeable about the menu, selection of steaks and other.

Im not sure who posted the previous comments for this restaurant, but im guessing they are family members or employees of the hotel… Went there last night with my wife. The crowne plaza is in our town so we thought we would give Chives a try after reading the reviews. What a complete let down starting with my first drink. I ordered a grey goose on the rocks, it was a glass of ice with about 1 oz of liquor, 1.5 oz. less tahn standard pour give or take. I ordered another drink same thing, very little liquor in glass. My wife ordered a glass of cabernet, tasted like water. Off to a bad start!!! The dining room was completely empty at 7:00 pm on a tuesday night, REDFLAG! Now the food, ordered the crab cakes app., still frozen in the very center, crab meat right ou of the can, not enough searing time in the pan i guess, no taste at all. My wife ordered the ahi tuna, came out looking like a slice of cheese cake wedge. Again tasteless did not eat it. My main course was the filet mignon, reccommended in the reviews. I could not eat this filet. I should have taken a pic. Looked like a thin piece of low grade beef and tasted even worse. I did not complain to server only cause my wife had just sent her stuffed shrimp back due to the shrimp being undercooked, and were not fresh but frozen little pieces of shrimp and the crab stuffing like the crab cakes were out of a can… The main courses were accompanied by potatoes au gratin. How do you screw up potatoes au gratin? Well they managed to do it, they looked and tasted like wet cardboard… Do not waste your time or money in the place. A very, very big dissappointment. You have been warned…

Stayed here for a week for work training. Nice hotel with good amenities, pool and gym on site. Had dinner at their Chives restaurant for the week. Tried a variety of items, here’s my recommendations and comments: — Chicken Fajitas Appetizer: not bad, but platter and pretty good. — Rib Eye Steak: not worth it. Presentation is great, but steak is dry and tough. Definitely not melt in your mouth quality. I wouldn’t recommend it. — Gulf Shrimp: not bad, probably the better choice out of the other menu items I’ve tried. Shrimp is big, wasn’t a fan of the crab stuffing though! — Lobster Risotto: was looking forward to this dish, but sadly disappointed. Risotto was too cheesy which ruined the entire flavor of the dish. Lobster was not enough and quality wasn’t that great. Overall, I’d recommend checking out Jose Tejas across the street. Cheaper and better quality food!

Who of thought a good restaurant would be inside a Crowne Hotel. But my friend, the coupon queen, had $ 50 off &100 bill. So we ordered a shrimp cocktail that was 4 huge prawns. The were cooked to perfection. Then its be a while since I ordered a steak. She ordered a New York Strip. I had a skirt steak. Both came out as ordered … Medium rare. Both came with veggies not over cooked and not raw. Dinner was excellent. And we shared a bottle of Italian Pinot Noir. Not bad. I’d certainly go again. Our waiter, Anthony, we excellent.

High priced but delicious food and great service. I was staying in the hotel so tried them. Had their special five cheese tortellini with shrimp and brandy cream sauce with asparagus. Amazing! Came in another day for Lobster Risotto. It was alright nothing to write home about. Traditional cheesecake for dessert not bad.

I am still furious that I wasted a date night on this place. My fiancé received a gift certificate to , so we scoured the list of restaurants and chose this one. Within reasonable driving distance? Check. Steak for FI? check. Vegetarian entrée for me? Check. Alright, let’s go! Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted right away by who would be our server. He did not introduce himself or speak much throughout the meal. He took drink orders, offering the wine menu(which is as boring as it gets, but hey, it’s a business hotel restaurant.) There is no other drink menu, but there is a full bar in the restaurant. Out came bread! Unfortunately, it wasn’t warm. It may have been sitting out for a while. Disappointing, but at least the selection is varied. Here’s the part that ruined the meal: the ONE vegetarian entrée(mushroom ravioli) I saw on the website was missing from the menu. Our server told us they took it off the menu and suggested ordering pasta with marinara. PASTAWITHMARINARA? Their pasta dishes were all around $ 18 – 20! I had a flashback to Cloverleaf Tavern, where I was offered mozzarella sticks in lieu of their one vegetarian entrée. I ordered a salad instead, and FI asked if I wanted to leave. I did, but I feel bad leaving restaurants. I don’t know why, though, when they can’t be bothered to accommodate special diets. The salad was pretty good, but I was still very hungry. FI ordered a steak(which was nothing special, contrary to other reviews) and calamari, which were, oddly, dry and very opaque, like they had been overcooked. At this point, service had declined. A man not in a server uniform(possibly a manager?) brought out FI’s steak, set it down on a tray next to a dirty dish. EW! Who does that? He looked around for the server to deliver the steak, which was eventually brought to our table. We quickly wrapped up our meal and asked for the check. When FI presented the certificate on his phone, the server TOOKHISPHONE and disappeared for a while. He then brought back the check and left again. I think he may have thanked us for coming, but it seemed like he was going through the motions the entire meal and generally disinterested in being there. Overall, service was seriously lacking and the food was equally disappointing. I have no interest in ever returning.

Overcooked seafood, clumsy waiters, stale bread. Seafood pasta was okay. .Will not be returning.

This restaurant is located in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Fairfield. It is very difficult to get information on the restaurant as the Crowne Plaza’s website does not provide much and goggle searches bring up very little. Why is that? This restaurant is an anomaly. has a lot of reviews(63 so far), regarding Chives and they rate it 4.3 out of 5 stars. Not bad. What a shame their marketing is so poor. I was a marketing minor in college-hire me?! Lol Lord, they will go under if better marketing cannot be had. Last time I was there on a Friday night, there were two tables. TWO. What a shame. Their food and service have been above par during each of my four visits and I find their décor to be delightful. For appetizers I’ve tried their Seared Ahi Tuna, very fresh, their Calamari, very good, their Quesadilla’s, very tasty. I’ve also had their three-soup sampler, which was my least favorite of anything I’ve ordered here– a little too salty for me; however, my S.O. thought it was ok and he loved the Lobster Bisque even though it was different than any other bisque we have ever had. For entrées we’ve had their Wild Mushroom Ravioli which I am used to having with an Alfredo Sauce, but theirs is with a Mascarpone and truffle oil topping, different for me, but very good. Also their Salmon, Prime Rib, New York Strip, Cowboy Steak and Skirt Steak were all cooked to my liking, plentiful and wonderful tasting. I enjoyed everything. I hope they don’t fold because of their poor P.R. I don’t know whose job that is, but they’re doing it poorly. is now offering a coupon for this restaurant and with this incentive; I hope more people give it a chance. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Went here just last night for the sixth time. Very good. Excellent service, good food, few tables. Bread was a little stale but the Ahi Tuna entrée with sauce was fabulous.
