Food service has gone down. They closed the grill and made breakfast self serve. Lunch grill is closed as well and food is bland at best. People are friendly but the food is not like it use to be. Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere on base or off base until they improve the quality of this place.

Ok its a cafeteria what you were expecting 5 stars? I eat here if I have a Drs appointment(or fasting labs). They Do a pretty good breakfast and lunch can be passable depending on what they have. Oh yeah the best thing is its cheap. Yeah I know I can hear my friends & relatives saying so am I. Absolutely true. They only take cash so no credit cards etch but a decent meal at a great price.

First of all as hospital cafeterias go this one is mediocre at best. Secondly as military dining facilities go this place is descent but not the best. A year to two years ago there was a different contractor running things and the food was great and the service was superb but the current management is only meeting the the minimum standards so it has all slipped into mediocrity.

The food here is gross! Mystery eggs for breakfast, off temperatures, hard bagels, bland entrees. The only good thing about this place is the low prices.

The food here is «cafeteria food» but honestly it isn’t too bad. They also have different choices. For breakfast they have the grill for omelettes etc. then there’s another line for bacon, potatoes, cheesy/scrambled eggs etc., there’s also fresh fruit, oatmeal, cereal & hard boiled eggs. For lunch there’s the main line(hit meal/starch/veggies), grill for burgers & fries, the sandwich/wrap line, salad bar, and the occasional pizza under the warmer. Dinner is pretty much like lunch. They only accept CASH! But there’s an ATM across the hall. I hope this helps!

Ahh every time I have an appointment at the hospital, I am so excited that I’d be able to eat at this place. It’s a step or two above what you’d get at the chow hall or even the food court in the BX. The dining area is kept moderately cleaned but it’s not as big as you’d expect for such a nice place. It’s pretty efficient though at the registers so you rarely have to wait long. Their best point is the fact that the food is fantastic(if you’re used to chow hall food) so every time I get the chance, I would come here.

With all due respect to palate extraordinaire«food critic» and penny miser Joy J. — you’ve been eating one too many 99 cent value items. «Price is pretty steep for the fact its cafeteria food and in a military base»!?! Please tell us where you can get a T-bone or ribeye steak meal for lunch(or shrimp scampi or even crab legs on special occasions when in season) with all the necessary sides, for under $ 10? You can’t. Not even at Subway, Pizza Hut, Ohkura or Burger King, the closest eateries outside the Travis AFB fenceline. For example, today I’m having traditional Irish fare for lunch in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day this weekend(one of DGMC’s special«themed» meals, complete with decorations for the occasion) comprised of Corned Beef and potatoes, gingered carrots, Soda bread and Potato soup. The total cost? $ 4.80 A bowl of freshly made(real) Oatmeal in the morning will run you all of $ 0.40 cents whereas it’s three times the cost for the«instant» variety at McDonald’s. Scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, dice potatoes or even a made-to-order omelette will run you under $ 2. That’s hardly breaking anyone’s piggy bank. For lunch on typically normal meal days, you can choose from the main entrees of the day(there’s a 2 – 3 week rotation to avoid too much repetition), the grill line, freshly made to order sandwiches, a large salad island, plus beverages and desserts — and still get out the door for around $ 5-$ 6. Cash *is* King here — and rightly so – only because it would hold up the line at the registers to process credit or debit card transactions. However, there’s a Travis Credit Union ATM parked right outside the dining hall, next to the mini-BX and Havu-A-Java coffee stand. Not only are the prices more than reasonable against the local fast food fare found in Solano County, the selections are much more healthy too. This is due in no small part that the DGMC dining hall(it’s *not* a cafeteria) is operated by the Nutritional Medicine flight, comprised of Air Force medical staff and specialists. This includes trained and certified nutritionists and civilian food service personnel(for all of March, they’re celebrating National Nutrition Month with additional special selections in addition to the normal fare). It should come as no surprise the food here is not just the best at Travis. It’s not even just the best in the Air Mobility Command. The fact is, the food and services at DGMC has been rated as the best in the Air Force. The entire U.S. Air Force. For three years in a row. Is it any wonder base personnel come from the other side of the base just to eat here when they could eat at the BX foodcourt or elsewhere?

The price is pretty steep for the fact its cafeteria food and in a military base! They only accept cash last time I was in this facility. The dining room is spacious and the outside patio is a nice view! Food can be delicious depending on who cooks and what day of the week. Like I have said before you are better off paying cold cash outside of the base and eat elsewhere.

No hospital cafeteria horror stories here… The food here is prepared by chefs, no GI slop served. A great variety of choices, pizza, hamburgers & fries, hot entrees with fresh vegetable sides and a huge salad bar. You ahve to have proper ID to get on base and bring your CA$H, they don’t do plastic.

Why isn’ t there a subcategory for cafeterias? This is by far the best hospital food you will ever eat. I know there’s a stereotype going around that hospitals serve nasty food… well then you havent eaten here. It’s inexpensive and hits the spot. Trust me I was hospitalized for 5 days and had nothing to eat besides chicken and beef broth :(As soon as I could eat normal food I demanded the nurse go down and get me a beef stroganoff. so yummy.
