Super cute shop. I really wanted a refresher on basic machine sewing skills, so I took a private class not too long ago. I spoke with Alexia in advance, selected a pattern with her help, bought the fabric and then pre-washed it at home. What was great is that I was able to bring in my own machine and learn on that! My private lesson was casual and fun, but very informative. I was able to make a sweet reversible baby blanket in that time, but most of all the private lesson succeeded as the refresher that I wanted. They have a well curated selection of chic fabrics, trimmings, etc, and they are very willing to work with you to achieve the end result you really want. I cannot praise the shop and the staff enough. They have moved to Westport now, btw. Edited October 2012 — it’s a great shop, IF you can get in. Their posted hours seem to be little more than a suggestion. A few times now I have gone during their stated hours, only to find the place dark and empty. More stars for more service! Not sure if this is new since they moved to Westport? I didn’t have this issue in their Fairfield shop.

Heard more than once that this is a fun place to go with early stage kids but also heard it’s not well managed unfortunately. Personal experience actually reveals this to be true despite the value of the offering.
