I have been coming here for more than 50 years. I love the hotdog with the works and the homemade fries. Love this place.

The best hot dog you will ever eat. Rawleys hot dog with the works is damn near a religious experience! It truly is one of life’s simple pleasures. Two dogs with the works, order of fries and a chocolate milkshake would be my last supper!

I’ve been looking forward to trying Rawley’s for years… maybe that extended waiting period boosted my expectations beyond a reasonable level. I love the old school feel of this place and give it 5 stars for keeping the building that way it’s been fort what seems like a very long time. Overall, I wasn’t blown away by these dogs like I thought that I would be. The works dog(sans relish) was OK… I liked the toppings but they completely overpowered the flavor of the hot dog. Similarly, the chili cheese dog fell into the same category. The place bleeds nostalgia and for that reason, I would tell people to go here. Maybe next time I’ll just get a dog with mustard and lay off the heaped on toppings.

Not quite the local hot dog king — that crown belongs to Super Duper Weenie — but an iconic place nonetheless. You can’t ever go wrong with their mustard/relish/kraut/bacon dog.

One of my favorite food joints of all time. I’ve gone here since I was just a tot, and although management has changed over the years it is still the same. My name is still carved into an old wooden booth, the dog with the works hasn’t changed ingredients in the 20 years I’ve been going, and the occasional grilled cheese I get for old times sake is full of deliciousness and packed with memories. Go. Eat. Be happy.

Rawleys used to be a Fairfield must visit, now I’m not so sure. I have been eating at Rawleys for over 30 years, but it has been about 7 since my last visit. Where are the crispy crinkle cut fries? I guess they replaced them with limp«hand cut» potatoes. My dogs, ordered with mustard and kraut, were delivered with no kraut and an uneven squirt of mustard. Seems like the buns are bigger too… maybe they don’t put them on the grill like they used to either. Rawleys looks about the same as it always has, but it seems the pride and attention to detail are different. I remember when Chico would man the grill, every bun got buttered and grilled, and the toppings were applied with care. I guess some things change.

Nostalgia aside, the dog is ok but not great. I like more of a snap in a dog. The fourth star is for the ambiance

Rawley’s — Fairfield, CT — 2015 This place has been around since my youth. The inside for the most part is completely unchanged. You can still see the carvings in the wood from decades earlier… They are known for their incredible chili dogs, French fries, hamburgers and milk shakes. Today I had a chilli dog(affectionally known as a «rot-dawg») and a vanilla milkshake. Deeeeeeeelish! This is the type of place you’d see on diners, dives and drives. You need to come here to experience and be part of the history that is Rawley’s…

If you like Hiram’s or Rutt’s Hut in NJ, or Walter’s in NY, you will be quite disappointed with these dogs. Hummel dogs are just not that good. There is little flavor and the shack is a filthy, depressing place that only a drunk Fairfield University student would appreciate. Although the shakes and malts are tasty, Rawley’s longevity and appeal is lost on me.

Quick and tasty. Nothing like sitting on a bar stool, eating a chilli cheese dog and sweet potatoe fries. Would come again. CASHONLY! They do have an in house ATM with a $ 2 service charge. I’d say its worth it just to eat a dog and watch the traffic roll by.

Great dog and great burger. This is a greasy spoon that is rough around the edges. Don’t expect a hug and fuzzy feelings when you walk in. What it lacks in that department it makes up for it in good food and atmosphere. Check it out.

Martha Stewart ain’t no fool! Having lived in Fairfield for a stint, it’s common knowledge that Rawley’s is a local legend. I’ll keep it simple, just like this place. Great burgers, awesome dogs, & amazing chili. It’s also got great atmosphere and a good escape from the Post Rd. booshyness commonly found within the Fairfield bubble. From the sign greeting you with the proclamation that they serve Martha Stewarts favorite dogs to the booths etched with the names of Patrons from over the years– the ambiance just as the fare here is warm, gritty, & satisfying! Easy smile on your face for lunch every visit!

My wife said that Rawley’s has the best hot dogs. I tried one with the works and I totally agree with her. It was actually the best hotdog I ever had. It is a must try for hot dog lovers. Place is a dive which to me adds to the character.

Very unpretentious. Great hot dogs. If you need a greasy all American hotdog an milkshake fix this is where to go. No frills, just straight comfort food. Easily gets crowded in the summer. Undeniably one of CTs hidden gems. $ 20 gets you a long way. The black and white milkshake/malt is a must try so are their various hotdog deviations. Don’t go here if your a food snob, to be honest you wouldn’t be welcomed either.

Hot dogs were good but not to the extent that everyone rants about. I ordered a hotdog with the works, Chili cheese hotdog and Onion rings. I must say it was all okay, the chili tasted like it had way too much paprika and it was sloppy. The service on the other hand was very poor! I misunderstood what the man taking my order«who I believe was the owner» was explaining to me and Instead of him clarifying his question he looks over at one of his associates to get her response. He did this several times while I was trying to understand what he was saying about a groupon voucher I had. Needless to say once my groupon tickets have been used up I will not return due to the lack of customer service he provided. I’ll stick to Swanky Franks and Super Duper Weenie!

The state is pretty saturated with Hot Dog spots, this one distinguishes itself by deep frying its dogs in a manner more commonly found in New Jersey, at places like Rutts Hutt. You might as well go all out and top it with the house specialty spicy relish and chopped onions. Sometimes you just need to debase yourself. Lets be frank(pun intended) tho, we all know how you will feel after eating this, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Look, it’s just a hot dog. It’s cooked just fine. It tastes like any other very good hot dog. The fries are very good. The beverages are flawless. The atmosphere is better than most. It’s not the best dog in New England, Connecticut or even Fairfield County. It’s a great go-to spot for a decent dog when you’re in the neighborhood. It’s not really worth a trip unless you live in some god forsaken place that doesn’t know anything at all about how to make a decent dog. Even if you do, you’ll probably drive by a place that is just as good as Rawley’s. Once you get there, you’re likely to see a wall of people shaking like they’re going through a religious awakening. Many of them will be wandering in circles muttering to themselves. Carloads of people will pull up and slowly morph out of their seats with a look of stupidness and awe as if they just arrived at the Grand Canyon but weren’t sure if they were on the good side or not. They are going to be every shape, size and age. Slapping them won’t snap them out of their nitrate-induced trance. You should still give it a shot, though, son. You should knock them to the ground, straddle them and slap them like you’re in the last hundred yards at the Kentucky Derby! Slap them like they just spit on your mother! Then get up and grab yourself a dog(actually 2 dogs makes more sense), some fries and a beverage and see what Rawleys is all about!

They got some nice wieners here! Length and girth! Apparently a fav of old Martha Stewart, not like I care but I’m throwing some hot dog gossip out there. Didn’t like the sour kraut but the dog and bacon chips are amazing. If you like cheese make sure to add it to your«works dog.»
