I almost hate to write this review because the experience of eating at Sabi’s is peaceful and unhurried, and I don’t want the place to become overrun… There are a number of places in Fairfield that serve Indian food, but none, to my taste, as authentic and delightful as Sabi’s. She makes a simple vegetarian, mostly organic lunch menu every day and you simply get whatever is on that day’s menu — but it’s always wonderful. Her Nan bread is superb, and the seasonings Sabi uses(she is the owner and chef) will make you feel like you’ve traveled halfway around the world. It’s incredibly reasonably priced, and I wish I could say there was something wrong with the place — but the only problem I’ve ever had is that, sometimes, if you arrive too close to 1:30, they may have run out of something. Sabi’s, like virtually everywhere in Fairfield, is incredibly informal. You put your plate on a tray and sit at one of the large tables in the building’s spacious lobby. Maybe not the best place for a romantic lunch — unless your partner is as turned on as I am by delicious, freshly prepared food. Lunch only, M-F.(I wish she’d open for dinner!)

This little gem is inside the large, copper roofed building at the corner of 185th and Hwy 1. Sabita, the owner/cook makes truly delicious Indian dishes made with love. I advise arriving as close to noon as possible, lines form and typically she may run out of food if it’s a busy day. Cash or check only… Her homemade naan is amazing as are all her dishes! Seating is at large round tables or counter-style, so you’re likely to make friends! It’s casual dining at it’s best. So lucky to have her cooking here!
