Simply the best barbecue in the region. The owner learned the recipes from his family in Oklahoma, so you get a true authentic meal. The smoked meats are excellent and a wide array of sauces to met most people’s taste buds. I highly recommend this gem in the middle of SE Iowa.

Was in town for work and decided to stop by for lunch based on Unilocal reviews. Brisket was great. Beans and cheesy tots where top notch. Pulled pork was good. And really liked several of the BBQ sauces. Top notch overall. Coming back tomorrow.

Décor inside totally redone. Brisket sandwich is phenomenal. Memphis sauce goes really well. Enjoyed more than BBQ in Iowa City at Jimmy Jacks.

Love their new space. The food is excellent as always. The people who work there are very friendly! And you have to go check out the countertop at the cash register. I like the map of the US made from license plates from each state. The whole experience there is GREAT!

This is the value proposition of a lifetime. Okay, that might have been a bit of hyperbole, but the food is outstanding and the price is beyond reasonable. My personal favorite is the smoked chicken salad(seems to sell out often) which has large chunks of smoked chicken throughout. Combined with a side of hand cut onion rings and suddenly the woes of the fade into an ignorable background. Did I mention that they, unlike a surprising number of other establishments, carry Pepsi products?

Very good brisket! Beans are so so. If you follow a gps like I did, the entrance is kind of hidden. It looks like it is closed but it isnt.

Good BBQ here in the unique town of Fairfield. You can see the smoker working when you walk in the front door. Nice to smell the lovely wood aroma that comes with making BBQ. Had the brisket and pork, both were delicious, I think it needs just a bit more smoke flavor in my opinion, but it is good BBQ. Sides are very good, had their delicious fries and Mac n cheese was awesome as well. They have a few different sauces to try, I like the buffalo and the extra spicy. Always a plus when a BBQ restaurant has multiple sauces to choose from.

They do know what they are doing when it comes to BBQ! Love the Baby Back Ribs, though would prefer them a little less dry, we whipped up some BBQ sauce at home and they were divine. I’m sure I’ll go try some other fare during the week!

I’ve eaten here many times with friends and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is great. The food is great. The owner is very nice. Not sure if they have sweet tea or not, but that would round out the whole BBQ experience! Can’t wait to return.

Exactly what it boasts it is! A fantastic Bbq spot. Had the Brisket and can honestly say I have never had better. Small spot, and we’ll kept. Definitely needs to be a regular stop for us!

Love it! Great BBQ and great people making it! Definitely going to bring my family when they visit me. It’s that good! Meat is very tender and there is a great variety of homemade sauces to choose from. Also very affordable. The owner was very knowledgable and made me feel very comfortable and helped me choose what to eat when I was unsure. I can tell that this is his passion and it is so wonderful! Will visit again and again! :)

Amazing BBQ, some of the best I’ve ever had honestly, but their sides aren’t as inspired. The fried pickles are great, but I’d stay away from the onion rings and waffle fries. Pretty affordable and the sauce selection is incredibly fun and tasty. I eat here often and will continue to do so. Make a stop here if you get the chance. The brisket is just absolutely delightful.

BESTFOODINTOWN. The only tenderloins I’ve had in Fairfield that weren’t full of fat. Their BBQ is amazing! And homemade sides. The mac and cheese is to die for. The staff is very friendly. You feel like you are at home. And the prices are GREAT! I highly recommend this place! Ok I’m drooling, I’m headed back.

We decided to try this place while visiting the Fairfield area, almost missed it because it is hard to see from the street. Fortunately my son spotted the BBQ sign they had out. Walking up we saw the smoker out front so we were hopeful it would be good. The man who owns the place was very friendly and told us he smokes all his own meat. We had the pork, chicken, brisket and ribs. Everything was very good, but we especially enjoyed the ribs. We would definitely go back if we were in the area.

Sweet and Saucy Fairfield IA. ***** When you say a place is a hole in the wall you may just mean Sweet and Saucy. Sweet is located at 117 N Court in Fairfield and you will need that address because the place sits so far back off the street. You can’t even see the front door, but don’t let that stop you. Sweet and Saucy is Limited service dining(order at the counter) We were greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable and confident person behind the counter, she knew the menu. The menu is extremely limited to BBQ. I believe they have a loose beef sandwich and a tenderloin besides the Q. Sauces: Six to choose from(Memphis, Sweet, Zippy, Spicy, Spicer, Buffalo) All of the sauces lacked any depth of flavor and were okay but not outstanding. I ended up mixing the sweet and the Spicy and came up with a pretty good sauce. Ribs: Ribs were not on the menu the night I was there. Can’t wait to give them a try. Pulled Pork: This is competition quality pulled pork, great smoked flavor and very moist. Restaurant pulled pork has the tendency to become mushy and this did not. I was a little rough on Sweet and Saucy’s sauces but the pulled pork did not need it. Brisket: Many BBQ places are not brave enough to serve brisket, Sweet and Saucy is and it was very good. Brisket is tough to do right and I’m glad to have found a place close to home where I can get a brisket fix once and awhile. Sides: A good selection of sides for such a small place. I had the onion rings and coleslaw, the rings were amazing. I also tried the fried pickles, going to have to go back and try some more. Overall: Since becoming a Kansas City Barbeque judge I’d kind of given up on trying new BBQ joints. However I was very excited to find such a good place so close to home. I may not have to by a smoker after all. I would suggest following them on Facebook for their specials as it is such a small place and the menu may vary a bit. I am holding out to try the ribs, some more of the sides and for consistency but Sweet and Saucy does have a chance to make my top two BBQ joints in Iowa.
