The food is usually pretty good. However, I often find the service to be lacking. Seems to be too many kids working without enough supervision or managerial support.

Dinky. Tiny. Drive thru. Americanized Mexican food. View of the highway. Plastic silverware and styrofoam to go serving containers. No frills. What you see is what you get. No, this is not your typical 5 star dining establishment. But I LOVE them still! Taco Tierra in Fairfield, IL is simply my favorite(drive thru) eatery there! There is nothing I would change. It’s located near the edge of town, and yet I have driven out of my way to go there… why? A big honkin’ serving of Chicken Nachos, that’s why! With gooey nacho cheese goodness! Big chunks of chicken! All the nacho trimmings you can imagine(but mine are made the way I like ‘em, minus beans)! I also love that every single time I’ve driven through, the customer service has been fast and cheerful. They basically hire high school students and maybe early years’ college students. Those kids are so polite and do a great job. Really. Now when you drive up the highway, you might see a line of cars wrapping around the building waiting for the drive thru. Don’t let that discourage you. They’re fast. Plus they have a system where workers come outside and work the line of cars to take the orders and payments to expedite, if it’s backed up past the intercom. After you get your order, you can sit in your car in the gravel parking area and watch the traffic go by. It’s sort of fun — like having your own mobile booth. Give Taco Tierra a try if you’re driving through Fairfield, past Fairfield, or near Fairfield. It’s definitely a local treat!
