We went on a Saturday morning. Worst breakfast food I’ve ever had at a place that is allegedly fda approved. The ambience was that of hoarder grandma meets family of the Texas chainsaw massacrer. I didn’t know simple bacon, eggs and potatoes could taste so bad. My fiancé desperately and frantically(he was very hungry) put every sauce on the sauce cart on the eggs and hash browns. He is not a bread eater and said the buttered toast was the best part of the meal. I agreed. That said, we paid $ 12 for both meals. Don’t go though. It’s considered the best townie restaurant in the area. That’s very sad for these people. There is much better food in the world.

If you are looking for a genuine American Diner for breakfast, you should come here. Great atmosphere, good coffee and food.

After arriving at Roundtop for snow tubing later than we had hoped, we ventured out for an early lunch and stumbled upon Village Book & Table. We were warmly greeted and told to sit wherever we were comfortable. Our server was one of the kindest and friendliest servers I’ve ever experienced. There were two adults and three children and the server was gentle, patient and accommodating. The food was excellent and the locals who came added charm. We had a wonderful conversation with the Mayor and his wife, who shared lots of local treasures and information. Great place to eat and hang out while waiting to snow tube.

I absolutely LOVE this place. I drive from northern Virginia to Fairfield several times a month on business, and always take the time to have lunch at The Village Book & Table. Shelley’s pulled pork barbecue is among the best I have ever had, and her chili is absolutely delicious. I’d give the place 10 stars if I could.

My best childhood memories were spent at this restaurant and I still love going here as an adult! The food is amazing, portions are large, and budget-worthy. I recommend the amazing homemade hash browns.

As far as small town breakfast places go, this is as good as it gets. Everything is a mishmash of old furniture, country decorations and just a smattering of patriotism in a tip of the hat to nearby Gettysburg. The breakfast menu has all the usual suspects. Locals abound. I think I sat in a counter stool that«belongs» to a local, because the old guy sat right down next to me and kind of gave me the stinkeye… but didn’t say anything about it. :) If I lived around there, I would be an every day regular.

This place is a gem. The food is home cook. They got Crabcake sandwich that costs under 10 bucks and it pretty decent(I lived in the Eastern shore for awhile and know what a good crab cake is). I love going to breakfast here with my relatives. They also make a good milkshake.

I went up to visit friends for the weekend, and they took me here for breakfast. I ordered the # 5: 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns,(real potatoes), toast and a side of scrapple for 9 – 10 bucks; and the portions were more than adequate. The best part is the atmosphere; small, but still pleasant, friendly servers, and the food was delicious. It’s a small-town café/diner with alot of locals, if they eat there, it’s a pretty good indication the food’s good.

Yum! Husband and I found this place while looking for a diner on our drive home after a night camping on the AT. We sat at the counter and got delicious pancakes. Blueberry ones are REALLY good — fresh blueberries mixed in — not a sweet, canned sauce poured over top. Service was a bit slow, but it was Memorial Day and we could see the one waitress working her tail off. Besides, the atmosphere was adorable. Good hashbrowns — onions mixed in and everything was perfectly tender. Price was fair — coming from living in DC and NYC, breakfast for around $ 8 each(including coffee and a juice) is great!
