It was nice to finally find a good sushi restaurant nearby. We will be coming back next time we need a sushi fix!

Great fresh sushi with some interesting rolls, perfect spot for lunch. The Ding-a-King beer was perfect. Great for conversation

This is my favorite local restaurant! It gets really crowded at peak hours, so I try to go during lunch or for an early supper to avoid wait times. I get the beef teppanyaki and asparagus tempura. I tell everyone about this place!

The sushi is the BEST I’ve ever had. You can pick anything on the menu and be assured it’s fantastic. The sushi is fresh and presented beautifully. The reason I gave only three stars is because the waitresses are rude and seem miserable to be at work. They rush around seeming too busy to be pleasant. If someone questions them about the sushi they act as if there is something wrong with YOU. The restaurant is small and the folks next to you jump right into your conversation or include you in their conversation by being so darn loud. Do yourself a favor and order sushi to go! The food is the BEST but the service and overall atmosphere bring the dining experience down several levels. There are many restaurants in Fairhope that provide an atmosphere that brings you back over and over. This isn’t one of them!

I grew up in Fairhope and have moved to the Northshore of New Orleans so there was a huge food change in my life. When I get to go back home, Master Joe’s and DragonFly Café are a must for me. My regular is the blow in the wind roll. Its very tasty.

Surprisingly delicious! Ate lunch with a group of women during the Fairhope Art Show. The service was good. The food was yummy. The menu offered a wide variety of items. I had the Fuji Apple salad which I would order again.

Walking into the place with it nearly empty, except for one table that already has its food. Waiter gets our orders, which were very simple and then decides not to talk to us again for an hour and a half. This is the first and last time we see him. We sit there waiting with our glasses empty for an hour. We start to look around and there are plenty of people who have come in after us who have their food. At this point we are livid. We ask a worker about our food. He tell us he’ll check on it and come back to tell us when it will be out. He never comes back to talk to us. We sit for another 30 minutes waiting but no food comes. We are extremely upset at this point and are debating on leaving. We had to yell for the server to even get his attention again. We ask to see the manager and she never comes out. We then decide to walk up to the counter and find the manager ourselves. She comes out and has the audacity to tell us we are wrong about everything and tells us to sit and wait. After this point we walked out and decided to go to a pizza place called Rotolo’s which was excellent. I WOULDNOTRECOMMENDTHISMASTERJOE’S. The service was absolutely terrible. If i could give it 0 stars i definitely would. This is how you run a business into the ground.

This was my first time having sushi and let me say it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was not daunting(for me being a first-timer that was big). I felt right at home and our waitress was patient and very willing to offer suggestion upon suggestion for me and my specific taste. I ended up ordering the Russian Revolution and I was far from disappointed. This exquisite sushi dish was more than I expected and, although I ended up full, I only wanted more! My counterpart ordered a simplistic California roll and was also highly impressed and satisfied with her meal. The price was very appropriate for the high level of service and food provided. There is no doubt I will be back to Master Joe’s for more sushi experiences

Best sushi hands down. I’ve never had better in this area or anywhere else for that matter. I don’t like the seating style of the restaurant because it feels you’re sharing a table with the stranger sitting next to you. The food is divine and worth coping with the horrible seating style though.

Still the best Sushi in the Gulf Coast region. Don’t believe me, try the Salmon skin, Christmas roll or the Philadelphia roll. You won’t be disappointed! In addition, my wife and I split the Fuji salad as an appetizer. Incredible taste and visually stunning.

If you are in Fairhope with a craving for sushi, you really must stop here! The sushi was great and even the seaweed salad was the best I have tried, which was quite unexpected for me.

Palatable, yet not entirely pleased. Service was a little lacking at first, yet the food was quick. Quite possible I might reconsider the rating, but I would remised if I did not mention the drink was lacking a garnish. The ambience was pleasant, but the establishment’s patrons were quite droll.

I would highly recommend adding this stop to your trip! They don’t take reservations. We went on a Friday in October during an art festival downtown– the 45 minute wait was well worth it. I definitely over ordered; most of the rolls are large and filling. The Bay roll was my favorite but everyone at the table raved over the Bama roll. I can’t wait to go back!

This small, quaint restaurant in the heart of downtown Fairhope boasts the best sushi on the Eastern Shore and all of the greater Mobile area. We have never had a bad roll there and the sashimi is always fresh and cut in large pieces. It is on the expensive side, but once you taste their sushi, you understand why you are paying a premium. The Rainbow Roll is especially good if that is your cup of tea. I can say that every piece of sushi that we have eaten at Master Joe’s has been worth it.

On a sales project within Baldwin County, AL and was in the mood for some sushi over the weekend. A client recommended«Master Joe’s» in downtown Fairhope. From the reviews I read here on Unilocal!I was expecting something different or at least, delicious? I got neither. My friends and I sat at the bar so that we could watch the«chefs» make their sushi creations, it’s amazing to watch but a shame the visual presentation of the finished product does not make up for the bland taste. We split 4 different specialty rolls and I could not taste the difference, they basically all tasted the same, a bit bland and way to soft, like eating rice and fish marshmallows. With two drinks and and a coupe of side salads the bill with tip was over $ 90.00. I have had much better at this price point. On a positive note, down town Fairope is simply lovely!

Very good food! Prices are a little high but the quality is also high. If you order the hibachi dish ask for extra rice. They will provide extra for no extra cost and you will definitely need it.

Very good fresh sushi. They have quite a few choices for sake as well. Their health rating is the outstanding and is very reassuring at a sushi restaurant. The quality of the Titanic was very nice. Glad I choose Master Joe’s as my first stop to eat at Fairhope.

It’s a small restaurant so there’s usually a wait at dinner time. We were lucky and got the last open table when we walked in. After getting us water, it was around 15 minutes before our order was taken, I think our waitress forgot about us & we had to wave at her. I ordered my favorite Ocean’s Eleven — spicy tuna, crab and cucumber, topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail & avocado, and then dressed with ponzu and eel sauce. It is one of the best sushi combinations I’ve ever tasted. It has very little rice which is great for those of us counting carbs. My friend ordered her staple Titanic Roll. The food was served fast for a full house and the waitress was apologetic about earlier. It was busy and noisy as usual but unfortunately for us, this evening meal came with two banshees at the next table. We ate our wonderful rolls and left before their screeching broke our ear drums! So, food was a 5 star but ambiance was a 3 star; hence a 4 star rating.

Hands down best sushi in Baldwin county. Wish I lived closer to master joe’s so I could eat there weekly. It’s the kind of place you can’t stop thinking about after you eat there!!!

What a gem in Fairhope! We walked in and fortuitously got a table for 6 on a Saturday evening. Within 3 minutes there was a wait and it is easy to see why!!! We had seaweed salad, rolls and edamame for the table as appetizer. I had the Russian Revolution roll for dinner. It was great — it is anything but traditional as it includes mayo and some melted cheddar cheese — but it works! Another person at the table ordered the sushi pizza — he loved it!(We think the crust is tempura battered seaweed?) The person who ordered the scallop and shrimp hibachi was underwhelmed. It wasn’t bad — but didn’t meet expectations. Can’t wait to come back and try this place again The sushi was outstanding.
