We’ve been coming here for a dozen years, through many changes in the store, and through our kids growing from babies to teens. We love our local bookstore! We shop here for the unusual gifts and for the coffee shop & ice cream stop atmosphere. Page & Palette will always be full of memories of our kids’ childhood. Love the newest changes with the Book Cellar, improved Latte Da, and the kids’ area.

Page and Palette have been in business for 40+ years. They have recently remodeled the entire downstairs and added the«Book Cellar» and it is a joy to shop there. I do enjoy the fact that the staff read books and can recommend them to you.

A fantastic local bookstore! I could have spent hours browsing here. There is a variety of genres, from local authors and southern classics to humor, cookbooks and politics. Everything I set eyes on, I wanted. Many were books I have seen featured in magazines that I read, like Garden and Gun. I especially appreciated the owners’ handwritten descriptions and recommendations of the books on the shelves, tucked beneath the displays on little signs. There is a great selection of unique gifts, like funny koozies and gag gifts(a corkscrew/bottle opener labeled as «Freshman Cookbook»). Plenty of gifts for the college football fan — in our case, we found a funny Auburn-themed cartoon book. The store has a friendly staff and a cute coffee shop attached. The staff also gave us a brochure outlining several events that they are holding throughout the fall. I can’t wait to check this shop out again next time I’m in town!

This place is hard to beat. My brother and I had just plain coffee there, but thoroughly enjoyed just drinking coffee, chatting, and watching the locals come and go. This is one of those«clean, well-lighted places» to steal a phrase. The waitress was delightful… perfect for this sort of restaurant. We will definitely go back. I’ll be back(to steal another phrase).

I love Page and Pallet. «Latte Da» is actually the name of the coffee shop inside of the bookstore. I love the atmosphere and warm attitude I get when I walk in. Many times I’ve seen artists working on sketches and local authors working on their next big thing. Sometimes you see old guys watching the news in here and other times you see moms and daughters catching up over some coffee. Since Coffee Loft has upped their prices so much, I really think the old Coffee Loft crowd has moved to Latte Da. The baristas are obviously local teens getting their feet wet in barista work, so don’t be too harsh on them. I love that we can talk about the local happenings while they make me my drink. This is not like Starbucks, y’all. The Chad is my favorite specialty drink, and they make a mean soy latte. They have different specials for the coffees every day that always seem interesting and delicious. I wish I could try them all! I recently tried a Himalayan Grög that had great aroma and taste to it. They also serve ice cream and cake. So you can buy a cool book from the store and grab a quick sip of coffee. I always take my out of town friends here for a great local coffee shop experience. Their prices are pretty reasonable and I love supporting local business.

This shop reminds me of Meg Ryan’s bookstore in «You’ve Got Mail», only better. Where else can I walk in to browse books and see what my favorite employees have recommended on a shelf? I don’t know these people, but I know who has the same taste as I do, eclectic. Where else can I start talking to a nice man who is recommending some books and then find out he’s an author who lives down the road? He’s Winston Groom, the man who wrote Forest Gump, among other things, no less. He just likes to hang out there. This shop makes me feel happy when I walk through the door. They make me feel like they want my business, and they appreciate it. I love places like this.

The Page & Pallette is probably the best independent book store we’ve ever been in. The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful and they have a great selection of books, including many by local authors. They also offer«Read It and Eat» luncheons with authors for a very nominal fee and host a large number of book signings with an impressive array of well-known authors. In addition, they sponsor and advertise local fundraising events. Stopping in at Page & Pallette to puruse the latest books and to find out what’s happening in Fairhope is a must any time we go downtown.

I like this place because it’s vibe will give you a good feel of the local area. There is a book in here for everyone. Even your dog(«The Dogs of Fairhope»). You can go next door to the coffee shop Latte Da and get coffee, relax, sit down, read a magazine, or walk around and look at the books. No one will bother you. They are super friendly there so if you want a suggestion on a book — they will give you their opinions or suggestions. I always visit when I’m in town and pick up a new book to read despite the e-book revolution. I’ve picked up books for the kids that came from the sale rack. Always something good to find. I’m a big fan because you really get the local town feel by stopping in. It’s your bookstore when you’re in town. As far as the coffee shop next door and it’s «barista» comments from other reviewers — it’s not a Starbucks. In fact, no one wants to hear the word«Starbucks» around there. Just ask Genes Beans down the block. So don’t walk in expecting a fancy coffee. Just get a local coffee and go sit down and relax. It’s not rocket science. ;)

This is a cool little coffee bar attached to a bookstore. I liked it as a great place to hang out and study while enjoying a coffee or two. I wouldn’t recommend it based on the service being stellar examples of baristas though. On one visit I asked for an iced latte and got a hot one. On another I was the only customer and it took several minutes to get my coffee, and the clerk seemed out of her element, only asking me to pay after she’d made the drink. Overall though a great place. Kids and adults come in to spend an afternoon or to grab a coffee and hang out. Friendly people all around. Go check it out if you’re in the area… and it’s a great place to wait out the lunch rush from Panini Pete’s just around the corner.

This place reminds me of Heine Brothers’ Coffee and Charmichael’s Books in Louisville. A coffee shop and independent bookstore sharing space, and customers. An excellent idea. Stopped in Fairhope for the morning to do some shopping, and wandered into the Latte Da looking for a good cup of black coffee. Found it! Service was great from a knowledgeable barista who may also have been the owner/manager. I got a really fantastic cup of Tanzania Peaberry that I savored for probably an hour. Also tried a cold brewed coffee/milk drink, a somewhat simplified version of an iced latte. It was delicious, too. If you’ve never tried cold brewed coffee, you may as well give it a shot at Latte Da. The interior was comfortable, cozy, and clean. But, if you don’t want to lounge in the café, you can browse the bookstore with drink in hand. Doesn’t get much better than that.

A bookstore and coffee shop, who would have ever thought of that combination? :-) This is Fairhope, AL and a kitchy artsy town that likes bicyclists, in Alabama no less. They have a fairly nice local author selection, including cook books, my favorite. The iced mocha was good, maybe a little sweet for me. I will be back, I love small homegrown coffee shops.

This review is of the attached coffee shop: Cool atmosphere. The café is connected to it’s own bookstore, plenty of tables n chairs. Wifi. A large selection of magazine to browse over your choice of coffees or espresso beverages. Just… never a good start when the barista has no clue how to make a drink that’s on the menu. Few places serve Con Pannas. Of the ones that do, an even fewer amount even know what it is. Train your baristas!

Somehow this place always finds books we didn’t know we needed. The staff are knowledgeable and somehow they carry books that other places don’t or at least I can find them here.

Great little coffee shop and eclectic bookstore… staff was super friendly and helpful — and genuiely so… which I note as those of us who hail from up North have learned as we spend time in the South — the hospitality at times can be a bit sarcastic, especially in touristy areas… That said, Latte Da/Page & Pallette live up to the local hype and it’s no wonder it’s a must see destination if you’re ever in the Utopian Town of Fairhope… I only wish I had more time so I could have purused the voluminous collection of prose… perhaps next time =) hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

This place is SOOO cool! Part book store, part giftie type store– the Page and Pallette has something for everyone. And just when you thought this couldn’t get any better… they also have a coffee shop attached called the Latte Da! The best place in Fairhope to sit a spell and people watch. They’re all here… kids, locals, yuppie business types and tourists. Not that I’m a tourist naaaw. I’d live here if I could!
