I have yet to be disappointed! Western Ultimate biscuit, scrambled eggs, biscuit n gravy, cheeseburger, stuffed baked potato… it’s all amazing! Best sliced ham I’ve had in a while too. I come nearly 15 miles for the breakfast and will continue to!

It was slow. I’m not sure the slow was due to a packed house. There were only about 10 people in the entire place eating. I am guessing because it was at 8:30am in Mother’s Day. It took us an hour to get our food. Nothing real special. A group of locals(elderly men) sitting around and griping about houses being built too fast and talking about how Trump was going to save the country. Very small town, rural type place. The food was ok. Honestly, a biscuit from Jack’s taste better. The bacon was great. The staff was friendly. I’m not knocking the place. I just didn’t get a 5 star feel. Maybe next time I’ll be blown away.

Good wholesome food. Very accommodating staff, made a special biscuit for me upon request. Expect a family atmosphere where you can get your own coffee refills and condiments. Lots of regular snowbirds and locals so you know it is good.

Saw the sign on the hwy. «Biscuit King next left» Was not too hungry, but for a place that calls itself the King of Biscuits… I’m gonna check it out! My compadre and I both had the everything biscuit. At first I thought it a lil weird that all the goodies were baked right into the biscuit, but one bite and I understood! Yummy! Next time I’m nearby, I want to try the biscuits & sausage gravy! Stop in… Recommend.

I have wanted to try The Biscuit King since reading about it in Garden and Gun a year or so ago and finally did today. The terms«nothing fancy» and«casual» are definitely an understatement when referring to The Biscuit King. That being said, it is definitely worth the drive from downtown Fairhope every now and then when you are REALLY hungry and want some good, comfort food. We tried the«ugly biscuits» with eggs and cheese which were really good; a vegetable omelet which was good/very good; cheese grits which were delicious; and hash browns which were good. We got all of this for $ 13. The portions were more than plentiful and the barn-interior was, well, spacious, different and somehow extremely welcoming. There were a lot of tables in the barn, and some folks were happily eating alone and watching SEC football on the television overhead, and others were in large groups. There seemed to be a mix of «first timers» and regulars(in the real sense of the word, meaning folks who may eat there everyday and hold court at their tables while nursing sweet tea for hours on end after polishing off a 2000 calorie breakfast). The staff were extremely friendly and laid back. Next time we are in town we are going to try the fried fish, pickled beets, baked beans and blueberry biscuit which all looked great — but we clearly had no extra room to try today!

How is it that I had never heard of the Biscuit King. The signs on 98 caught our attention on a Saturday, and we were so intrigued we decided to go check out their biscuits Sunday morning. We loved the look of the outside of the place when we pulled up. It’s in a big red metal building out in the country with some junky looking stuff on one side of it. We walked in and it was obvious they didn’t even try to make it look like anything other than a big metal building. It was full of several plastic top tables with vinyl table cloths. You walk up to the counter and order, then go sit and wait on them to bring out your food. The menus are by the register, nothing fancy or laminated, just printed on copy paper. We also noticed an old couch, juke box, a little children’s play area, a pool table, and a stage where a band used to play, but we were told they no longer have live music there. There are very few small windows. You don’t come here for the view. The menu was pretty simple. They serve breakfast all day long. Well, they serve breakfast until 2, when they close. They have the traditional plates with eggs, bacon, biscuits, hash and browns, or you can order stuffed biscuits. The stuffed biscuits are stuffed with eggs, cheese and bacon or sausage, and jalapenos, if you want them. They call their biscuits ugly biscuits and they are ugly, but they’re delicious! My eggs were perfectly cooked, as was the sausage, but the hash browns weren’t browned. The service was pretty friendly and the prices can’t be beat. In fact, it’s dirt cheap! This is the kind of place we’ll go back to often. Awesome place!

The last time I was here, I was appalled to see huge containers of Bisquick mix sitting out in the kitchen. It’s obvious that little, if any, of their food is made totally in-house. If you’re a southern restaurant that specializes in biscuits, you better make your own biscuits from scratch, without mix. Also, the food was EXTREMELY mediocre and the ambiance was atrocious. And plastic knives and forks and styrofoam plates isn’t just tacky — it’s incredibly wasteful. I don’t understand the appeal. I’d rather go to McDonalds(and I hate McDonalds).

I’d give it 2.5 stars because, while the breakfast was AWESOME and the employees sweet as pie, the ambiance is pretty horrid. So 5 stars for food and friendly kids behind the order counter, but zero stars for the rest of the experience… average 2.5. The place was cavernous, dusty, unpleasantly cluttered, eerily quiet, dark… truly AWFUL! The toys out for the kids(hence, «Fun Barn») were all broken and filthy; the play area outdoors was a weedy, hazardous mess. My advice would be to get the delicious breakfast food to go … keeping your fingers crossed that the food prep area is cleaner than the rest of the place.

Great place to grab a hearty breakfast biscuit for a lil change and get to work. The western with peppers is a must try or the hot ultimate!

I’m a big fan of the biscuits, especially after a late night. It’s probably a good thing I’m not from the area because I’d eat there frequently, and then I’d have to buy bigger clothes! I’ve only eaten the biscuits, based on the recommendation from my fiancé who is from Fairhope, and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. Last time, I got the Western with salsa inside and it was really good! I love that they use Conecuh sausage because I can’t find it as easily in Atlanta. If you’re in the area, it’s worth stopping in and getting an ugly biscuit. The Ultimate is a solid winner because it has everything!

I can only comment on the biscuits and all I can say is «wow!» I am not a biscuit aficionado so you people that like the light and fluffy Hardees type or the greasy Bojangles biscuits, don’t hold this review against me. But they are delicious and actually taste healthy. Don’t go here to sit down and have a nice, scenic, country breakfast waited on by Pearl. This is truly a barn with very few windows. I went yesterday and ordered biscuits to go…“ultimate hot which is stuffed with sausage, eggs, cheese and jalapeños”…INCREDIBLE! I will be a regular from now on!

One of the best biscuits you will ever eat! Good southern breakfast. My only complaint is the place is pretty dirty. I don’t even want to think about what the kitchen looks like!

Hole in the wall in a barn in a field :) we went during a downpour, so that made for interesting ambiance(rain on a tin roof). No frills southern breakfast. It is all made to order(biscuits are premade that morning-saw the owner making up more batches). My kids had waffles, my husband had biscuit and gravy and I had the ultimate ugly biscuit. The waffles are large, the ultimate biscuit was really good, two kinds of sausage, egg and cheese. I wish it had been a little hotter and I had butter(I love melted butter on any biscuit — even when it has meat — if I am going to indulge in a biscuit I am going all out!). My husband said his was good and the kids liked their waffles, but I personally would go with something more traditional southern, that is what they know how to cook! The place is family run and everyone is «honey» or «sweetie» or «sugar» it isn’t a put on, but if you aren’t from the south you might be slightly taken back. I spoke to the owner for a good 5 minutes and we actually spoke about Unilocal reviews lol(and how he really didn’t know much about the internet reviews) he was very nice and total old southern man who makes good biscuits. I would go earlier in the morning than we did(9:30) because in my opinion these type of places are best first thing.

We went here for breakfast recently and were very disappointed. One of their specialties, the ultimate biscuit, had very little of the eggs, cheese and bacon it was supposedly stuffed with, and the biscuit was dry and hard. My husband’s ultimate biscuit was a little better since he ordered his with sausage gravy over it – which gave it some much needed moisture. The service was fine, but food not good enough for a return visit.

This place is a no frills country restaurant with some great biscuits. We will have to go back for lunch and again for breakfast. It’s a great place and they have great food. The owners are super nice and seem to care a lot about their customers. Not too sure their employees care too much so I won’t give them 5 stars. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food after most everyone else got served before us even though they came in later… The owner made it right by giving us free refills(except I think all refills should be free…) Anyway, I enjoyed my meal and I will be back!

One of those places you just have to find. We enjoyed a great breakfast after a weekend get away to Point Clear. Stuffed biscuits were the bomb. Great cosy barn that serves lunch as well.

The Ugly Biscuit is one of the best breakfasts you can have. I rate the Biscuit King 5 out of 5, but this is 100% because of the biscuits. Normally, I comment on décor, service, etc… but the Ugly Biscuit is so phenomenally good, I don’t really care what the restaurant looks like, or that its just good olé’ down home folks that run the place. Some patrons remark concerning the ostentatious displays of ultra-conservative allegiances, but that doesn’t change the fact that these biscuits are amazing. I always get the Ultimate, stuffed with bacon, sausage, peppers… God only knows what else. Even though I live 1400 miles away, I always get an Ugly Biscuit when I come home. I’ve never found a commercially sold stuffed biscuit, and my attempts to recreate this in my own kitchen have been met with utter failure. It’s such a brilliant idea that is executed with such precision, I’m amazed a major chain hasn’t picked up these biscuits yet. Go here. Absolutely go here for breakfast. You will not regret it! This really is a buttermilk biscuit breakfast calzone. 5 out of 5 just for having a unique and incredibly delicious idea.
