Painting with a Twist

I came here with my fiancé. The instructor was Hannah, she was funny and energetic. I am not artistic at all. My fiancé on the other hand is artistic as fuck. He kept laughing at me the entire time. They host raffles and other fun things so you can win prizes.
This is perfect for a girls night or just a fun night out. They host private events you can book and you can choose what you want paint. They have multiple locations in the area now.
Bring your own food and drinks, alcoholic or non-​alcoholic.

Painting with a Twist… a.k.a. basic girl’s night out/​wild suburban mom night.
I came here with some friends to paint a giant canvas picture of wine glasses, because it is my favorite thing to look at.
You can sign up online and look at the classes that are coming up and choose what you want to paint. It is a fun amateur art class, where the teachers walk you through each step of the way and make you feel good about yourself for producing something that looks halfway decent. Choose your class wisely. Ask yourself: «Self, do I really want a picture of Starry Night with an Eiffel Tower hanging up on my wall with a Dr. Who Tardis in the corner?» If you answered yes, then knock yourself out. It is really about the experience anyway.
Most classes are between 35 – 45 bucks. I paid/​pre-​registered online. If it is a large class, it can be a little tight, but it is still fun. Classes are about 2 hours long, and at the end you take a blow dryer and finish drying the acrylic paint so you can take it home that day.
Art smocks are provided, but bring your own booze. I saw some girls drinking out of sippy cups. Like I said before, wild suburban mom night out.
As Bre mentioned in her review: Don’t open too many bottles of wine! You can’t take open containers with you. This caused me to chug the rest of my cabernet with a friend, and then sit at the pizza shop next store for awhile so we could safely digest some greasy food and drive home.
Also, I saw some groups bring snacks with little cheese plates or those Wegmans dips. They were obviously painting with a twist pros.
You can bring your boyfriend for a cute date, but the estrogen might be overwhelming for him. He will pretend to have a good time, and then when you get home you will wonder what to do with two of the same painting, and hang up the one that looks better. Happened to a friend of mine.
If you don’t feel like hiking out to Webster, they do have a location in Greece as well.

What an experience! Fun, crazy, loud, silly! I’m no Picasso but my painting was terrific! Such a warm friendly atmosphere you can’t help but have a great time. It was PACKED on a Wednesday night! That tells me they are doing this right! I want to go back as soon as possible! This really is a must try…

I had a wonderful time. This was my first time at a painting class. The instructor was nice and after a few sips everyone in the room was feeling even nicer. I can’t wait to go again. I just wish there were more closer to the actual city.

I’ve been here three times (once for a private event) and I’ve loved every single occasion. The instructors I’ve worked with (Chuck and Magnus) have been fabulous and made the whole painting experience really enjoyable.
I don’t consider myself a talented artist, but at least now I feel like I can accomplish some sort of painting (with the help of some wonderful people).
I had my bachelorette party here and I had so much fun. This place is great for small or large events, great for friends and coworkers, and now I can say it’s great for date night. We are so lucky to have something like this near us.
I can’t wait to come back!!!

This place was absolutely fabulous! The most fun I’ve had in a while. Great atmosphere and the instructors are a great ball of energy!
I do recommend if your looking for something fun and different you should definitely give this place a try!

I went here last night with my best friend and we had a blast! The teacher was hilarious and made painting really really fun. I’m no artist but the teacher simplified the instructions so the outcome looked surprisingly decent. You bring your own wine and they supply the cups. It was so much fun, we will definitely be going back!

This is one of those perfect outings for a group of girlfriends. I highly suggest it for a birthday party — it’s simple, there’s an activity, BYO –food and –wine, and you leave with your own personal painting.
I went for a friend’s birthday and we had a blast. The instructors do a great job explaining the painting piece by piece so it surprisingly ends up looking like the original. The unique differences between each painting is a fun comparison to see at the end of the night. Also, if you have someone who’s a good DJ have them make a playlist or pop in your iPhone to play some jams on Pandora — they have a hookup and speakers. We may have started a mini-​dance party in the back.
Pro tip: No open bottles can leave the building so open one or two at a time so you don’t lose out on that vino!
I recommend making a reservation because they’re booking a month out in some cases (specifically on the weekends). If you have a weeknight outing, it’ll be easier to schedule. I’m planning to go back with my wine/​food pairing gal group.

Looking for something new to do besides dining out, movies, or the bar scene? Painting with a twist is the place to try. You don’t need to be an artist or have any background in art to let your brushes hit the canvas.
It’s an instructor — lead 2 or 3 hour session and the art supplies are provided. You just bring yourself, some friends, some bottles of wine, some snacks, and some humor. There were a couple of times when I harshly criticized my painting but I realized I’m not Van Gogh so I must let it gooo.
The only thing that bothered me was that I felt rushed towards the end. I understand there are time constraints but all of the finer details for this painting were towards the end. I would’ve preferred less time spent on spattering paint on the canvas for the background and more time of the details.
The instructors did a great job creating a fun, laid back atmosphere unlike those days in high school art class. There’s no grades and no judgement and no need for perfection. I was chatting, laughing, sipping and had a blast. The biggest bonus is I left with a prize — a pretty painting that I can say I made myself!
I am definitely going back! Eventually I’ll have a collection of my paintings. Any bidders? ;) Just go there and DIY!!! Paint away!

I am a HUGE fan of Painting with a Twist, I’ve been there twice now and can’t wait for more. I felt like I actually had artistic talent! And they let you bring in food and wine, so it’s great to do with a group, or attend one of their open classes with a friend. They welcome all skill levels and I was very easy to follow along with the instructors. They also have a punch card rewards program and you can get punches by checking in on Facebook and writing a Unilocal review (looks like I’m due for my punch from this post). I can’t wait to go back. Who is coming with me???

Great vibrant place for a girls night or even a family outing! Be sure to reserve in advance as space fills up fast.
Even for the unadventurous or uncreative minds, you will leave the studio feeling accomplished and proud of your very own painting on canvas. They will display a finished canvas of the picture you are painting, plus walk you through the steps to create your own while the instructor paints a canvas on the raised stage. They will give you all sorts of tips as you go along, including how to mix your paints and brush stroke techniques.
Don’t be fooled. This is not a snooty or intimidating environment. Bring your own drinks and snacks (wine is encouraged!)… Relax and have a great time with your friends and family and enjoy your very own personal canvas for years to come!
For all of the supplies, a painted canvas and 2 hours of fun, the $ 35 price is well worth it!

Tonight, we did Monet’s ‘Lilies.’ It was my first time at Painting with a Twist. I went with 2 friends who were also newbies. We brought some snacks and drinks to enjoy during our 2 hour «class.» I wouldn’t really call it a class because it is much more relaxed than a traditional art class.
The instructor starts with a fully finished painting to show what we’ll be drawing and has a blank canvas next to it. She (Sarah) then started off describing each thing she was doing and telling us how much paint to have on the brush – which was very helpful. We did the background first and stopped to cheers a few times (fun!) as well as dry our paintings with hairdryers to speed up the process.
We continued to go through the painting one step at a time and Sarah’s helper (Carly) would walk around answering questions. They reminded us to take a step back and check out our paintings (because you will rarely be as close as we were at that point), this was good too because it helps you get a good look at the whole painting.
We ended the night by signing our paintings and with a group picture. To sum it up, I want to go again! I might even go again this week!

I came here with my family to celebrate my brother’s commencement at RIT – what a great substitute to another large restaurant meal! And you get to take home your own piece of art! Not to mention, the people who work here are SO nice – we arrived 40 minutes late, but the instructor waited for us, and they even closed late so that we could have the full class experience. This place gets five stars just for friendliness. And fun. Wine, paint, a packed meal of whatever your heart desires? This place is the perfect answer for what to do with a large group of people for any type of celebratory event.

On Saturday, I enjoyed an awesome girls day with all the lovely ladies in my Family at Painting With a Twist. I had heard about this place, first on Real Housewives of Orange County. Then I check online to see if there was one in Rochester and Viola!, there was one in Fairport.
I booked a party about 3 weeks ago to get family together when my sister and cousin came in from out of town for Thanksgiving. After thinking only 10 people would show up we ended up having over 20 people! Even my 85 year old grandmother came, and had a blast!
After talking with the owner, John, about what to expect during the party, I got even more excited about getting everyone together. We brought food, wine and a lot of laughs! We even started singing along to Sweet Caroline when it came on the radio! The staff was super friendly and made sure out party went smooth.
I am so happy that we have a PWAT in the area, it gives us a great option to choose when you want to have a fun girls night! Private parties can be done any day of the week, but you have to have at least 10 people. Trust me, that was very east to do!
Not only did we leave with an awesome painting, but we left with great memories of one of the best girls days i have ever done!
