I hadn’t eaten at a Boston Market in quite a while. I usually end up at the one in Richmond Heights maybe once a year and seriously regret it. I have always liked their food but if you’ve been to that one you know how how undesirable the restaurant and the employees are. So I ended up at the Fairview Heights Boston Market on a Tuesday for lunch. It was great. I got the ¼ chicken white with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. They serve you now on a real plate with real silverware. It was a pleasant surprise and I’d certainly return.

Let me start by saying that I have never used Unilocal before, but after eating the leather-shoe they call meatloaf I am now going out of my way to express my opinion. My order was a simple meatloaf with 2 sides of Mac & Cheese plus an extra side of loaded mashed potatoes. It came out to be 10.35, which is a reasonable price for what I hoped to eat. But it sucked. I would rather have eaten a wet sock than their fake meats. The best part was the Mac and cheese which only tasted slightly better than store bought Craft macaroni. My meatloaf reminded me of a rubbery Salisbury steak that would be served in a middle school cafeteria, and too top it off the loaded mashed potatoes were bland and practically tasteless. You can get the same meal at Cracker Barrel for about the same price, however the chefs at Cracker Barrel must actually know what good food looks like. Even the smell of the lobby was musky and unappetizing. I wouldn’t eat this if it was the last resturaunt in Illinois. If I could vomit my food back up and get a refund, I would. In fact my vomit would taste just about as good as their meatloaf. *drops mic*

If you had a family of 5(3 kids 9, 12, and 14) and didn’t feel like spending $ 75 for a meal, and yet wanted something better than McDs or Wendy’s, what would you do? That’s the dilemma I face every time I eat out. This place takes care of the desire for good food(maybe not the best ever, but still good) without going broke. That makes me happy, and I’ll keep returning on occasion.

There are way too many restaurants along the N. Illinois strip to bother with the slow service and mediocre food found here.

Food is good, especially roasted chicken. However, service and employees are abysmal. Skip this place unless you are craving the roasted chicken.
