Probably one of the biggest street fairs without admission fee that I’ve been to, and parking was only $ 5! The street parking was all full by the time we got there so free parking was not an option. It’s a big fair, and you’d be very happy if you like fairs and don’t care for avocados, because if you do, like me, you’ll just end up with disappointment. We walked for 3 – 4 blocks without a sight of an avocado… And finally when we saw one, it was hass avocados at a produce stand, which you see plenty at a Von’s or Sprouts… I was really hoping to see different varieties of avocados! We also tried the famous deep fried avocados. Although they don’t sound appealing to begin with, we still gave it a shot. Meh. Don’t bother. We didn’t even finish the tray! The best thing that happened there was my purchase of some dresses made in India/Nepal as I love the unique designs. This fair was great about having a lot of everything but very little avocado or avocado related products.

Other reviewers got it right. It’s a glorified street fair with a half dozen avocado vendors among the hundreds of vendors. I was wanting to buy some avocados other than the Hass variety you see at the supermarket, but no one was selling them. Most were selling the 25 for $ 5. A great deal nonetheless. Bought the chips and guac from the holy guacamole stand and it was tasty. The secret is to keep the guac ice cold to maximize the flavor and they did a good job. There was one booth that had dozens and dozens of varieties of avo of crazy shapes and sizes, but they weren’t selling them… they were only for display. Bummer. I asked if I could buy any. They said no but that all of the avos on display would be sold after 4 pm when the fair closes. And for $ 5 each. Yikes! The festival was decent but once is enough for me.

Awesome! Get there early! There are a ton of $ 10 parking lots right at the festival with spaces open all day. We took our Smart car an found parking so close!(It’s our festival car lol!) I have never seen so many vendors! We bought shirts, jams and spreads, dip mixes, avocados, wooden signs, jewelry and so much more! Some great finds and very creative artists! I’m glad we finally got to go and I am excited to make this a new tradition! ****Please do not bring your pets! Website says no animals and we saw way too many dogs! The pavement is hot, there’s not much shade and every dog we saw was in rare form! Please, please don’t do that to your animal!!****

More like«NON-Avocado Festival»! What a waste of time– The only saving grace was the beautiful day & the cute downtown area despite the crowds. just like other people said” where were the avocados”??? It was a typical street fair with a bunch of bs for sale, lemonade, gyros, hot dogs or sausages. I saw 2 guacamole stands & fried avocado slices. Finally found an Avocado themed lunch… Waited in line for a «stuffed avocado Ahi poke»…they ran out 2 people in front of me. I was so bummed! Won’t go back. Over crowded and really lacked on the whole festival theme.

Okay, so I’m sort of new in San Diego. I had heard of Fallbrook but had no idea where it was. I see an «Avocado Festival» on social media, and thought what the hell? Sort of misleading I might say. The title should have been«Giant Street Fair». We walked for blocks without seeing ANYTHING avocado. I was getting a little perturbed, as I can check out a street fair anytime without driving 40 miles. Finally I spotted some people walking around with guacamole and chips and I(almost tackled) asked them where the got it. They pointed me to the holy guacamole booth.(Same guys at every Farmers Market) I grabbed a $ 6 boat of chips and guac and headed on my way to find some avocados. I finally arrived at a couple of booths that had produce and lot’s of avocados. I was so bummed because I wanted avocado chips, avocado oil, etc. All I could find was few fresh produce booths, and couple olive oil booths. The rest of the blocks were filled with trinket booths. Kinda weird to call this an avocado festival. Especially since I was standing in the Avocado Mecca of the universe, Fallbrook.

My cousin has the most fabulous bacon avocado tree. But it only produces every other year. This year wasn’t one of them. So, why not go to an avocado festival? (Okay, I was bribed with the additional bonus of lunch & slots at Pechanga & shopping at Tom’s Farms. Incentive was needed to get me up at 5:30 in the morning and drive all the way down there.) This was a big festival. Booths lined Main Street for blocks and blocks. Food and farmers market booths were on some side streets. We were there too early to experience any live music. I’d really rather think of this as a city street fest, rather than say that avocados were the main focus. A lot of local businesses and other groups were interspersed between the many craft booths. Tip: check out the various booths selling the $ 5 bags of avocados before you buy. We found this one booth that offered a variety of good-sized avos in each bag. Found a vendor selling proteus flowers and couldn’t resist buying three lovely stems. The hubby wandered through the classic car show. Spent some time watching the dog obedience demonstration and felt bad that we’re such failures. Our chihuahua is the most unruly curmudgeon ever. Since we were there early, we scored quite a few freebies: Check out the cool Miley Cyrus bag! LOL Got some pretty good stuff though, really. A grocery tote, eyeglass cleaner, pens, chip clip, keychain, can cooler, useful pest & health info, hand sanitizer, etc. Friendly atmosphere. But, go early! By the time we left around 10:30, it was already getting crowded!

Just like previous reviews said, it’s more like a huge street fair. I still didn’t mind walking around though. What was a little sad was that I saw a lot of pet owners with their dogs, when the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce website for the festival says absolutely no pets allowed. I would’ve totally brought our pup if I knew. Not very many avocado showcases. Just the Holy Guaca-Moly stands with their $ 6 chips and salsa, Cold Stone’s avocado ice cream stand, Avocado Gelato, and some farmer’s market stands selling $ 5 for 25 avocados in a bag along with their other produce. The beer gardens only sold Budweiser??? Really??? How disappointing. We did see some wines on the north refreshment area, but by that time, we already helped ourselves with some local tap at the Irish Pub on the same street at the fair. I had a Bacon Wrapped Hotdog for lunch. It was okay. The BF got Kalua pork. He liked it very much. I wish I tried some ice cream, but the Cold Stone stand wouldn’t let the BF try the avocado ice cream first before we got some. No worries, I can get avocado ice cream in any Filipino Food Store if I really craved it. We got there at 10:45am and was still able to find parking on one of the side streets off of S Mission. It was a scant 2 block walk to the festival. I’m glad the temperatures were not as hot as previous festivals were. Overall, it was entertaining. I might visit again next year.
