Fallbrook Waste & Recycling has been nothing but helpful to us. We had prompt service when ordering new cans or extra cans upon first moving in to our home. The only issue was when they changed over from personal black(garden waste) can pick-up to clients using their provided green cans(3 incl. in price), they took forever to be delivered– weeks and weeks. I assume that was because there was so many people ordering that created a back-log. This meant that sometimes, I would have to call and the green waste guy would have to come back to pick up my personal cans because he had accidentally bi-passed them assuming I already had my green cans. It all worked out though in the end. The people on the phone are always friendly. The recycling center people are nice and always helpful. Overall, if you ever have to go there to take extra waste items, it’s very well run and organized. Everything is sectioned off based on the kind of trash and it’s all being cleaned up constantly.

I feel the need to be sentimental now that the holidays are here. A couple years ago I was forced live back with my parents, myself being a washed-up, PhD drop out. Like many people, it was extremely tough for me to find a job. I was sending out hundreds of resumes a month. I was interviewing one place after another at least 3 times a week. All of this was emotionally and financially exhausting. I was spending too much money on gas and my car… and I hardly had any savings. This was mainly because I was very wasteful during my school years; I know better now. To «earn» money, I collected recyclables and sold them here at the Fallbrook Waste & Recycling Services. I can tell you, as much as I hated doing it(it is dirty, there are wasps everywhere, and you have to separate your own garbage, plastic, aluminum, and glass), I knew I had to do it to scrounge up some money. I always tried to go there early in the morning when there weren’t that many people not because I was embarrassed but because the place was usually crowded with a lot of other people doing the same thing I was doing. It was tough because you had to get enough trash bins for yourself so you could store your plastic bottles and aluminum cans so they could be weighed and you could get paid. The guys who worked there were usually very nice. They chatted up with the regulars(I assumed) with casual/familiar Spanish and made the process bearable. I was always treated very nicely and got paid with crisp bills. It’s been a while, but I am grateful that I don’t have to rely on cans and bottles to get some money. I have a job and earn decent money; I no longer live with my parents. Yet every time I finish a bottle of water, I can’t help but remember those days… and a small part of me kinda tears up from that. Thanks for being around, Fallbrook Refuse Service. :)
