My husband and I visited around Halloween and although they have an AWESOME selection of organic vegetables, which we love. The jams, honey and egg price were OUTRAGEOUS! I’ve decided to buy frozen organic products. Or go back to California and buy there! I REALLY miss Denio’s Farmer’s Market or Foothill’s Farmer’s Market!

My grandson and daughter invited me to their school outing a few weeks ago. I was very excited to attend as I not only was going to spend some quality time with them but I had not been to a pumpkin farm since leaving Illinois a few years back. Which in Southern Illinois is quite an experience. Any way back to the review at hand. My daughter and I arrived early and decided to look around the produce market etc… I was slightly disappointed in that there was not really much to offer. I guess I assumed they would be overflowing with produce and baked goods. There were plenty of squash and pumpkins, however some looked a little aged. Most were fine, but I didn’t see much in the area of baked goods. Guess I thought there would be breads, cakes, pies etc… didn’t see much of that. There was plenty of jams and jellies though. However, I must say the biggest disappointment came in the fact, we were unable to purchase a lunch at the restaurant onsite. My daughter had packed a lunch for my grandson, but after looking at their website mentioning the restaurant we thought we could grab a bit there while the kiddos were eating their lunches together. Upon walking in to get lunch we could see it was hectic. We were asked if we were with a group coming from Reno, and stated no. Then a lady from the back area came up and said they were busy putting together lunches for the Reno group and wouldn’t be able to get us anything for at least 1 — 2 hours. I was a little upset but thought well this couldn’t be helped. Maybe next time they should get more help to allow people coming in to buy lunches too. That however was not the worst part. Apparently the teachers of my grandsons school had called the day before to confirm they could get lunch at Lattins Country Kitchen still and were told no problem. Unaware that I had entered the diner and was turned away, they teachers went in to get lunch. The lady from the back came up as she did with me and pretty much told them in a rather rude and loud voice, I HAVENOTHINGTOGIVETOYOU, I AMTOOBUSY. Suffice to say the teachers were more upset by this news as they had been told since booking this little trip to their farm they could receive lunch and were quickly ushered out with words that could have been a little more appropriate from their restaurant staff. Shame on Lattin Farms for doing this to them and other paying customers. If you advertise that you have a restaurant on site then you darn well better make sure you can cover your restaurant. These teachers were tired after being with 1st graders all morning walking through your less than stellar establishment, and were very hungry. Now they had to wait until they returned to school to eat and that would have been difficult since they still had a few hours of teaching left to do. To explain my less than stellar establishment, again I refer to the produce market, the tiny pumpkins the kids picked at your pumpkin patch area and the tiny corn maze. Was there another one nearby that might have been somewhat taller? There was however the cow train which the kids really enjoyed, and they were able to feed one goat using some contraptions at the farm. However, some of the kids were disappointed in that they didn’t get an opportunity to do it because of time constraints. However, after lunch all the kids were free to do that as there was nothing else for them to do but run around.

I initially came here to pick up fresh produce while on vacation, but I was so impressed with the quality of their homemade beads and jams that I returned the next day. Breakfast! Oh my word! Do yourself a favor a stop by on a day when it’s cool enough to eat outside on their back patio. You’ll get to enjoy a fantastic down home breakfast amidst a backdrop of a working farm. Throughout the meal, various Lattin Farm family members stopped by to see how the food was and ask us about ourselves, and then they continued on to their barn chores. Such a hidden gem! Make sure to meet the farm puppies, and have a frank conversation with the llama/alpaca while you’re there!

I cannot say enough about this place. They continuously give to the community in so many valuable ways. They provide entertainment with festivals for schools and families. They grow their own healthy organic foods. Many of our families favorite times together in Fallon have been at Lattin Farm!!! Hay rides, small animals to view, the little wagon train, tents for local vendors, corn maze, pumpkin patch. It reminds me of a place you would read about to your kids in Bernstein Bears. Good wholesome family fun!!!

This review is mainly for their Fall Festival. I have never been to a pumpkin patch and this year could possibly be my most eventful Halloween month so far. I guess this is what happens when you step back from urban life and have to find things to amuse yourself with… the little joys of life. We went on a Saturday around 11:00am. There were already a lot of people and their parking lot was almost full. We checked out the llama and sheep by the parking lot before heading over to the store to get some tickets. Corn maze $ 7 adults/$ 5 children Children rides $ 1.50 per ride/$ 8 unlimited ride wristband Hay ride $ 2/$ 6 if you want a pumpkin Lattin Farms is participating in Nevada’s 150th anniversary celebration so the corn maze features some Nevada trivias. How well do you know your state? Before you enter the maze, you can choose to participate in the trivia and they will give you a paper with 10 questions to fill out. Throughout the maze, you can find red poles that hold the answers. At the end of the maze, you can trade your completed answer sheet with your choice of mini pumpkin or gourd. I can’t imagine doing the maze at night, I was lost enough during the daytime. It was fun though and I wouldn’t mind going again.

We had a great time. And the kids loved everything they got to do. I do have to say that it was a little run down and a little expensive. But we did have a dun time.

Home, home on the range… where the organic cantaloupes, beets and asparagus play? Somehow I don’t think that’s right, but it is what it would be if we were talking about Lattin Farms! Rick and B. Ann Lattin, owners of Lattin Farms, have been supplying the Northern Nevada community with delicious fresh, organic, produce and family fun for the past 35 years! In that time they somehow managed to raise 5 children and 11 grandchildren, make some delicious pickles and jams, and build a brand around being our friendly neighborhood farmers. Rick and B. Ann have been committed to promoting local agriculture for a long time, and I was so happy to have had the pleasure to meet them during an event they hosted for the local«Goats R Us» 4H program and Gloria Montero, of Montero Goat Farm. The event was to promote the upcoming 4H auction in Fallon this weekend, and Nevada Junior Livestock Auction in about a week, as well as showcase goat as a delicious and available source of local protein. Dough Catering cooked up three delicious preparations of goat that left everyone wanting more! There was a goat sugo over goat’s milk polenta with a parmesan crisp, a goat carnitas tacos with charred scallions, fresh radish, and cilantro crema, and goat sliders with smoked tomato aioli, cheddar cheese, on a homemade brioche bun! Each dish was better than the next, but my personal favorite was the sugo. The more than 150 attendees were amazed at how delicious and tender the meat was, as well as how similar it tasted to proteins they were already familiar with. I’m excited to see these additional proteins coming into their own here in Nevada, along with the wonderful variety of fresh produce the Lattin’s are producing. It’s a testament to our cowboy and agricultural roots, and I love seeing it in action. Meeting people like Rick and B. Ann, Gloria Montero and Karl Clinger, and all of the 4H kids and their families, is incredible. It reassures me that we will have local food available for years to come because of their continued commitment and dedication.

Try their jam, it’s amazing. Their melons in season are simply the best, at the end of the growing season call them and you buy cheap cases of incredible tomatoes to can for the winter and in November go to their corn maze.

Wasn’t sure what to expect. I thought we would have more to do but my 6 year old loved it. We picked out some pumpkins. Went through the corn maze(got lost) and had a nice day out.

If you’re looking for a great place to take your family for lots of Fall fun, this is it! Lattin Farms, a family-owned, organic farm in Fallon, holds their annual harvest festival every October. There is lots to do – shopping for organic produce, taking a hayride out to their pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin, a «cow train» for the kids, crafts, a bounce house, a scarecrow factory, a petting zoo, and, best of all, their incredible, HUGE corn maze! The maze is just spectacular. Be warned, though, you need to give yourself between an hour and two to get through it. Plus, the ground is pretty rutty, so make sure you wear good shoes and are prepared to carry small children(I would recommend a jogging stroller or a baby pack.) Last year it took us nearly an hour and a half to finish; this year we made it through in an hour and fifteen minutes. SO much fun! This is a cheap day out, too. The corn maze is the most expensive part – $ 7 for adults and $ 4 for kids 4 – 14. The cow train and the bounce house are $ 1 each, and the hay ride is $ 4, which INCLUDES a pumpkin!(That’s the cheapest pumpkin you’re gonna find anywhere!) Lattin Farms is just an all around great day out, and well worth the drive out to Fallon!
