Top Gun Restaurant

Stopped here to try the cheesesteak. Not at all what i was expecting. I have had better, the meat looked and tasted like it was leftover fajita meat from the restaurant next door and the cheese whiz was not fresh… the place was pretty run down and outdated. I hate leaving negative reviews but this one is a DNR.

I would pay $ 100 for a sandwich if Chuck would deliver five hours away.
This place sources top-​notch ingredients from local farmers. This is an east-​coast native trying to bring east-​coast sandwiches to the desert. They slow-​cook their own meat in a smoker out back. The servings are… more than generous… I’d say they’re ‘grandma-​sized’. As in, if you’re starving, better get a small. If you want to feed a family of four, get a large. When I lived 30 miles outside of town, my wife and I thought of our weekly trip to town in terms of what we would get from Top Gun that week. Now that I moved to Elko, when we make trips to Reno we swing an hour out of our way to pick up a Top Gun sandwich. When I win the lottery, I’m going to hire Chuck as my personal chef.

The only reason it’s not getting a 5 star rating is they no longer offer breakfast.

But the friendly owners and nice tasting food trumps the negatives.

I had the medium steak and cheese with fries. Possible worst fries ive had. Worse than the frozen ones you heat up in the oven.
Steak sandwich… sorry out of swiss. Peppers and onions… I found about a tablespoon on one half of the sandwich. Sandwich was mostly bread but at least it was the best part of the meal. Asked for some mustard and catsup and it may have been the first time judging by the response. And i received around a tsp of each in a cup
Overall it cost me just over $ 13 for a poor meal… Lesson learned. Wish you had a minus star

This place is a hidden gem. The food is fantastic and the service even better. The portions were huge and filling. Our party of four left with all of being full and satisfied. Please come check this place out.

They have good sandwiches and awesome wings! Good service, very friendly and the fact they have FREE delivery is great!

Just had it for lunch. Disappointed. It really didn’t taste like a cheesesteak sandwich should, no real flavor and the thing I was looking forward to, the garlic parmesan fries were just french fries with parmesan cheese sprinkled on them. I can do better at home. Bottom line, not going back.

I’m the duke of this place and I don’t even live in Fallon. Hmmmmm. Maybe there are not very many Fallon Unilocalers.
Stopped in again last night after a hard day of exploring to perform an experiment, that experiment being– «Is the medium hamburger as big as that all the time?»
The answer is– yes. I managed to finish more of it this time, but only because I neglected my Garlic Parmesan fries. If I had polished them off first as it my custom, I could not have eaten the whole burger. I am loving all the condiments and those huge sweet onions on there.
Great food, great service, nervous that there were not many people eating there, please don’t go out of business.

As soon as we walk in nobody greets us. There was a guy and and lady in the back who gave me akward eye contact then proceed to avoid eye contact. When my group sits down we wait a good 15 minutes for anyone to even get us our drink. My friend had to actually walk back up to the front and ask to be served. Once the young guy came to take our order he proceed to tell us how this wasn’t even part of his job, he was actually the cook, which was obvious by how he took our order. 30 min later we finally get our food and actually it was good just not worth the wait and the cotomer service. They never even checked up on us and once again we had to walk up front to get our bill.

We sat in the restaurant for 15 minutes and no one approached us to take our drink or food order. I had to walk up to the counter to ask for service. The one worker came and took our order. Then 20 minutes after we ordered we were still sitting there with no food or water or service. He walked into the room we were seated numerous times and asked the other table if they were doing ok without even acknowledging us or bringing us the waters we ordered. After about 45 minutes we finally got our food. Yet again no drinks though and we had to ask again for water. Ten minutes after getting our food we finally got our water. The food was really good except they gave us the wrong cheese on one of our sandwiches. All this being said while the food was good, we will definitely not be coming back here or recommending it to anyone

If I could give negative stars this restaurant would get a few!!! I would advise not to eat at this establishment until they improve there cooking skills and table service.
Prices and proportions are way too high for the food they serve.

Great homemade food. The owner Chuck and his wife are always friendly. The cheese steaks and wings are amazing and I don’t think I have ever had anything that I didn’t love in there.

Service was rather slow and the place didn’t seem at all busy, only 1 table of what looked like friends of a person working there. We were seated all the way in the back. We ordered 2 cheesesteak sandwiches and a large seasoned fry. Both sandwiches came out wrong. We only sent 1 back and the server tried making it right by only charging for the small sandwich instead of the medium. The fries were cooked well done, we didn’t ask for them that way but we both enjoyed them. Once my sandwich was re made it tasted good, but after having to send it back the wife was nearly finished with hers. Once they get their issues worked out with inconsistency this will be a good little find in Fallon but for now I can’t say I’ll be returning.

I’ve been three times now… and in all honesty I have no complaints at all, really.
The first time I went, I had the Philly Cheese steak and large fries. The only problem: I don’t have a stomach that could contain it all! Lol… the food was really good, just more than I could handle. Should’a brought my wife to help me out! The fries there are good too. I tried the cheese fries (mozzarella?) but really don’t care too much for them. No big deal, I’ll just get the regular fries from now on. Just ’cause they don’t «do it» for me does not mean other people might not want them. That is why menus typically have a selection of things, so that we can choose what we like. Speaking of which, they have a very diverse selection of food… I just need to remember to get the smaller portions since I cannot handle the larger servings of food as a rule. I also had a burger there. The burger (with bar-​b-​que sauce and onion rings) was really good… better than Micky D serves, for sure.
Anyway, I’ve gone there during the lunch time frame and never had a problem getting seated. The service, food and pricing is all fair and more than appropriate. The new additional seating area came out really nice too. The owner is very nice and approachable, and he seems to care that YOUR MEAL was as good as it can get.

I was very impressed with this restaurant. It is a small family owned restaurant and they are very welcoming. We had breakfast there and the food was good. Though my sausage was over cooked, it did have a good flavor to it. I was also disappointed that they did not have decaffeinated coffee. We will definitely be back. The amount of food you get for the price is excellent.

Just tried the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Bread, sauce and BBQ was outstanding. I think I’ve found a new favorite sandwich! I have yet to have a bad meal from Top Gun!

The food came out slow, but the service was great otherwise. I got the large philly and it was one of the better ones I have had. The bread was really fresh, and you have plenty of cheeses to choose from. I also had the seasoned fries, which are regular fries with some seasoned salt on them, they were fresh and not over seasoned. They came out well ahead of my philly. I would eat here again to try their burger for sure.

This place is terrible! I don’t know what everyone’s hype is about. Wings are mediocre at best, the burger is dry and over-​cooked and tastes really bad. The mozzarella sticks and onion rings taste like they were fried in motor oil. Only reason I’m giving two stars is delivery.
