I heard through the grapevine that«there is this place» that has an awesome little counter at the back of the store that sells Salvadorian food. Being hungry, I finally went on a quest to find it based on a vague description of its location. It is a Latino grocery first and foremost I suppose — they have a good selection of food stuffs to include produce, meat, fish & shrimp, and packaged pastries/baked items. But I went in search of some comida autentica salvadorena. When you find your way back to the counter they have a picture menu in spanish as well as english. There was a surprising amount of choices. There are platters with beef, chicken, fish, plantains, etc. as well as some soups(beef, tripe). I was torn between the pupusas and tacos. After asking about the chicken and barbacoa tacos the lady indicated I best get the tacos de barbacoa so I followed her advice. It was a great choice, you get 3 tacos on double corn tortillas full(!) of tasty barbacoa with some fresh cilantro, onion, and tomato sprinkled on top. They were awesome, some of the best barbacoa I’ve had. Did I mention they were full of meat? I could hardly finish all three. They also provide an awesome habenero salsa which has a strong kick balanced by a fruity component — not sure what’s in there but I drenched my tacos in it. It’s not too hard to find but somewhat out of the way and you won’t necessarily see their sign while driving down Route 7 since that road SUCKS! and is fully of crappy drivers. It is basically across the street and a little bit more west from Panera Bread Co. It’s in it’s own little strip mall section. If you hit Raaga Indian restaurant you’ve gone too far. The barbacoa tacos were $ 7.49 but well worth it I think. Next time I’m going to try the pupusas though, I think they were only like $ 3.
