It’s hard to impress me when it comes to Chinese food. Although Miu Kee was highly recommended by my beloved bf, I have to sadly say that… it’s not worth the hype. Without knowing its name, I’ve actually been here several times with my family. I’ve tried a variety of their food, from«authentic» Chinese fish, pork, duck dishes to more americanized stir fried noodle and chow fun dishes. They’re mediocre at best. I’ve had better ones at many other places. A lot of people recommended their wontons(soup and noodle soup), but I hated the texture(chunky) and lack-of-taste. One item that I tried out of impulse was their beef and chinese broccoli fried noodles, and that was the only thing I really liked. The beef was tender without tasting like excessive cornstarch. The noodle was part crispy part soft. Right amount of sauce and salti-ness. There’s also an interesting taste to it… tasted familiar, but I can’t pinpoint what it was. So yea, I liked this particular dish. The service was not great, which could be expected for most Chinese restaurants. If you’re new to Chinese restaurants and are expecting casual conversations, smiles, and frequent asks of how your meal is going, then you are going to be disappointed. But they give you what you ask for and don’t bother you for the period of your stay, and so… I can’t complain. Bottom line, it’s not bad, but it’s not great.

My family always comes here when we are craving wonton noodle soup(hoanh thanh mi). It’s pretty decent here but all the food is usually really salty whether it be the soup, casserole, chicken, or fried rice. The service is horrible here though– the waiters are rude! Definitely would not willingly go here aka go without my parents.

Whenever I visit VA a must for their wonton noodle soup! I’ve been getting this for years. Don’t forget to add the hot chili paste inside the soup for a kick and flavor. Service may not be the best but overall a solid Chinese food sort for the community of falls church and it’s open pretty late.

First time coming to this restaurant. I was expecting delicious food and quick service… or at least having a server even pay attention to my friends and I. 30 mins we had to wait until a single person even gave us a menu. I would understand if the restaurant was packed, but there was barely anyone in the restaurant. If I could give this restaurant a 0 I would absolutely do it!

Stopped by this place after midnight one weekend since it was one of the few places serving food which was still open. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in, it was very spacious and had roast meats up in a display window as well as a lobster tank. The place was still surprisingly half-full given that it was so late. They serve complimentary hot tea to all the customers and I highly recommend ignoring the menu they give you. Instead, take a look at the noodle soup menu which is on a little stand in the middle of the table. I had the roast pork and it was amazing and came in a very large portion. I wasn’t able to see the noodles! Overall the taste itself was pretty typical of most Cantonese noodle places, but the broth was overly sweet. There also was a distinct lack of any vegetation in the dish, though at 8 dollars the dish was still quite reasonably priced. Be warned however, that service may leave something to be desired. While they seated us and took our orders quickly, attention to detail was lacking as it took us over twenty minutes to get our drinks, despite our best attempts to flag a waiter.

I ordered lunch for 9 $: shrimps in crabmeat sauce and fried rice, egg soup. Design was just not attracted at all. It looked like somebody already ate it and throw it again. :(maybe I choose the wrong meal. So I didn’t eat it. At least they bring free sliced orange with a receipt

I stopped going to this restaurant a while back but it’s the favorite restaurant of one of my friends so we continued to go. The food is okay in general but the service leaves something to be desired. During our last visit, the Garlic Scallion Chicken that we always order came out cold so I had to send it back. A yelling match ensued between the server and kitchen about why it’s cold. The chicken came back out lukewarm with a few pieces missing, probably because the kitchen staff didn’t believe it was cold. In any event, the servers act like they’re doing you a favor by being there. They don’t smile back or say anything when we thank them. Sometimes, the good food will make up for the bad service but there’s no reason to go when they’re both bad.

The food here is pretty decent for one of those Chinese places that have been here since I was little. The wonton soup is good, the seafood fried rice is good, the salty tofu is good, and roast pork and roast duck is usually good. Service is pretty below average. Sometimes they are not bad and sometimes you wait 10 minutes until you get your water. Food gets a 3.5÷5, service gets a 2⁄5. Don’t know if that makes a 3 average but that’s what they get

Don’t get me wrong I love the food here. However, over the years that I’ve visited I noticed that the quantities have gotten small and the prices have gotten higher. For example, the crispy fried pork used to come in a big box with lots of scallions, but now, for take out, it’a much smaller in a tiny container with less scallions. It might be because of the demand of the food but I think the prices would be more reasonable had they come with larger quantities. I used to frequent this place but not as often due to the rapid increase in prices.

For years, Miu Kee has been fulfilling my late night cravings and I wish I could give them 5 stars but their service has gone downhill. The past few check-ins, I’ve been rudely seated with no eye contact and an aggressive point to a table. The bus boy even gave me a flat out«NO» one time when I politely asked for utensils. Regardless of which, I still love the food here. RECOMMENDED: Won ton Noodle Soup w/char siu pork — Hands down everyone’s favorite after a long night of drinking. Portions are always big! Roast pig & Roast duck over rice — Large plate of meat that would make anyone happy. Salt & Pepper shrimp — My favorite way to cook and eat shrimp. ALWAYSORDERTHIS :)

Good. The only Chinese restaurant who can cook the right Yang Zhou Friend Rice, in the east coast. Yes, not even NY can cook this baby. They put lots of shrimp which you don’t find that on any other Yang Zhou in the area, they sautéed the char siu pork bits(so it has bit of crunchiness), the rice is not soggy, the seasoning is just right not overdone. If they can cook simple fried rice the right way, they pretty much cover the rest of the menu alright.

Great for late night food, not sure if I would go during the day. I always get shrimp wonton and spinach soup. My favorite part of coming here was once we came in and sat down and after the older lady took our order she turned around, let one rip and walked away. Now many may find this offensive and grounds for not returning… I found this one funny as shit and two adds character… beware the farting waitress, only funny at night while drunk.

Good place with good dishes, but not cheap. It does take a long time to get your orders. Waiters and waitresses are responsive, and also way too quick to get the tab. One disgusting area is their bathroom(men’s). The floor is a safety hazard because of the thick grease on the floor tiles. Furthermore, the urinal is sickening! I shouldn’t have used it. Now, it makes me sick just thinking of what I saw. If we measure a restaurant’s cleanliness by its bathroom, this place failed miserably. Management please do something promptly. Otherwise, you will not have many return customers.

I came here to eat with a friend late night after work(around 12am). Thank goodness this place closes late, because we were in need of a meal. The interior looks like a typical Chinese restaurant, really. I tried their egg noodle soup with wontons which tasted great. When they give you a small dish of green peppers, add soy sauce to it and dip your wontons in it — so good! The service was awesome and portions were great. The reason why I’m giving this place 3 stars is because the prices are a little steep for a Chinese place when there isn’t much of a difference in the food, and nothing was out of this world. Still, this place is great for big groups and late night eats.

The crispy fried tofu keeps me coming back here even if the place clearly needs a renovation, the servers and back end staffs all take their breaks in the front end amongst the paying customers. They talk so loud in cantonese, with their mouths full and its really causing me indigestion.

Few things in this world have stayed the same over the last 15 years. Phones have gotten sleeker and smarter, cars faster and more fuel efficient, but some things, like Miu Kee, have stayed exactly the same. I’ve been coming here since I basically moved to NOVA so many years ago and I’m pretty sure not a single thing has changed at Miu Kee. They have the same tables and chairs, the same christmas lights on the bar that probably still has the same liquors in them from 15 years ago, and maybe even the same fish and lobsters in the tanks. But maybe staying the same isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Miu Kee hasn’t changed because it probably didn’t need to change. The menu has seen minimal alterations over all these years — You’ve got your standard American Chinese food, but also sizzling casserole dishes still served chafing dish style over an open flame, Chinese roasts and BBQ meats, and all other the traditional stuff your grandparents would even remember. And you know what? It’s all good. While I would not say that Miu Kee is exceptional in any area, it serves very good food, has large portions, and all at reasonable prices. Some of my favorites include the spicy eggplant and ground pork casserole, beef and tomato over rice, and the bbq roast pork. If you’re looking for simple, good Chinese comfort food, look no further than their rice and noodle dishes listed on the little laminated cards on every table — Generous noodle soups and delicious varieties of roast meats and more served over heaping portions of steamed rice. This is the closest I have been able to get to the dirty and delicious New York Chinatown corner restaurants outside of the Big Apple, and that is a good thing. Inside, Miu Kee does show its age. While not falling apart, the old carpet, drapes, and ceiling tiles are all calling for a refresh. They have been calling for one for over 15 years now, but they are still standing strong so mysterious forces may be at play. That said, there are plenty of tables for parties of all sizes. Service is also good as well. Food comes out quickly and requests taken care of promptly. As for value, the NY Style rice and noodle dishes basically all fall under $ 10 and most entrees fall in the $ 12-$ 18 range and are more than enough to share. While I and most people tend to crave the shiny and new, I’m glad that places like Miu Kee exist. It’s old school in the best way, sticking to their roots and doing what they have always done and doing it well.

The wait staff is more talk than work. I ordered roast pig, roast duck and Cantonese seafood noodles it was all rather average. Unless the wait staff loses the rude ways of talking to each other rather than looking out for the customers this was the last time for me. BTW the rude waitress is the one with black dyed hair and is ugly.

I really wish I didn’t have to do this. My family has been going to this place for YEARS and it is a decent place for authentic Cantonese style food. Their food quality is luck of the draw, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s salty and bad; sometimes the duck is fresh, sometimes you get a plate of bones and are left wondering what happened?! But my update is in regards to their service. Now, I know Chinese restaurants aren’t known for their service and you don’t go in expecting anything really any better than fast food/self-serve quality. However, the past few times I’ve been here, spread out over a few months, their service and treatment of customers has left me questioning why I would ever come back if there are better places in the area. Most egregiously, they up-charged us on a lobster dish we ordered by $ 5, saying it was a «large» lobster when it as clearly a small one. Almost every time we go, when we’re not ordering the noodles, is get the lobster with ginger and scallion so we KNOW when we’re getting what we ordered. Another time, a simple plate of sautéed veggies in nothing but garlic and oil ended up being $ 11 on the bill?! It’s these experiences that make you not want to support the smaller business in town but it’s a two way street and no one wants to feel like they’re being disrespected or taken advantage of. Perhaps the sting is sharper since we’ve been coming here for so long but as it stand, we may not come back.

Only been here twice, but believe me if I lived here I would be back more. It’s kind of tucked away, and the atmosphere/service may seem lackluster but the food is so good it doesn’t matter! Their noodle soups are the best. Especially the crispy duck or pork wonton noodle soups! If you order that you will not be disappointed.

Located in an unassuming strip mall. This little gem is the perfect place to go for an inexpensive Cantonese comfort meal. Parking is easy and you can’t miss the restaurant with its huge neon red signage. Walk in and you’ll see tanks of fish and crabs to your right. Someone will seat you quickly, bring tea and water and menus. Don’t forget to check the table topper menu for soups, noodles and rice dishes that aren’t on the menu. We ordered the quarter roast duck(a steal at $ 7) kung pao shrimp and the seafood and noodle soup. The quarter duck was absolutely awesome, super crispy, perfectly seasoned and deliciously fatty. The seafood soup was good(highly recommend adding in the spicy peppercorns they bring with the dish). Your table will also come fly equipped with vinegar and spicy red peppers in oil. Recommended adding these as well! My main complaints are that this had no fish, to few scallops and shrimp and to many pieces of squid. The kung pao shrimp was good as well, though a little spicy and heavy on the peanuts. At $ 36, our meal was a steal and we left happy and full.
