Yuca frita with plantain taste. Happened to be near by this place and stopped for some pollo a la brasa, my mistake, should have checked the Unilocal standing first. I ordered a half chicken and yuca frita, the chicken was a six on a one to ten scale, the salad looked so disgusting that I didn’t even touched it, the yuca frita had PLANTAINFLAVOR! No, not a new hybrid yuca breed, they just fried the yuca and who knows what else with the same oil(a culinary sin). I wonder if the fried plantains taste like yuca… They served a minuscule amount of side sauce for the chicken and yuca, I asked for more sauce and they gave me another minuscule sized container, perhaps I looked to them as a super model and not as a 200+ lbs guy. The yuca side was small, WAYSMALLER than the average pollo a la brasa place. The bathroom looked more like the bathroom of a NYC auto repair shop. There was one great thing about my meal… The Dear Park bottled water I bought. THEYHAVEHUGE«Tip» containers everywhere, perhaps the should consider putting their sauces on bigger containers too. If you’re near by this place do yourself a favor and keep driving.

Horrible experience! I’m leaving the restaurant with a sickening feeling from eating and half way through the meal seeing plastic halfway gone. Took it back and got another meal of disgusting shyt. After three bites(trying to give in a chance) I asked for my money back then they forget English. Do not go. If you do pray before during and after. Oh yeah, during the Unilocaling I’ve just witnessed the lady from the kitchen push the trash down then make a plate.

Their food is good & they’re generous with the sides, especially the yucca frita. The staff is not too friendly and the décor is bare bones, but at least there’s good music.

Don’t let the bland name and awful building/location bother you — this place is tasty. Pervuvian Chicken and Steak is… well, exactly what the name says. A Peruvian Chicken and Steak joint. It’s no fancier than a cafeteria and the location(while on 50) is pretty sad. I definitely wouldn’t want to eat in here. Prices are actually fairly decent for the volume of food, and service is remarkably quick. The food here is worth traveling to the location. The half chicken I ordered was large and incredibly moist, which is rare for places like this, especially since I came relatively late for lunch. The yucca were absolutely delicious as well. The sauces here were just as good as any other Peruvian place, which is to say that they made the chicken and yucca even better. I didn’t bother with the salad, which I found kinda blah, though others may enjoy it. I’d highly recommend this place, albeit only for take-out.

This place is great, for what it is – a place to get cheap rotisserie chicken and sides. There aren’t a lot of places in the area where you get salad, yuca and a quarter chicken for less than $ 7. The poor ratings for this restaurant are odd to me. Why are people giving one star because of service? All you do is order at the counter and pick up your food. Would you rather pay extra for tip to have your food brought out to you 10 feet away? This place is great for a quick, cheap dinner. I typically stick with the chicken though, as the main dishes are a bit expensive in comparison. Lunch is great too as they always have daily specials.

The rotisserie chicken is delicious! Golden brown, crispy skin and uniquely cooked over charcoal. Never had that flavor before and it’s quite memorable! I am hoping to come back to eat this again.

Chicken is flavorful but on the salty side. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and the yucca was old and stale. Extra points for not charging extra for additional sauce

SHITTIESTCUSTOMERSERVICEEVER. I went to get lunch for myself and coworkers. When I got back to work I realized an order had been left out. I called and let them know I had the receipt and would be coming for a refund. I was accused of stealing and being a bad person by their Oompa Loompa looking manager. Perhaps she didn’t understand what I was asking either way good customer service tells you to listen and keep trying to find another solution other than yelling and accusing me of things. I would never eat here again or recommend anyone else eat here!!!

EATATYOUROWNRISK!!! We got our order and sat down. Shortly after the lady that served us came back to our table and said she brought out potato salad instead of cole slaw which was correct. She took the potato salad and I watched her take it out of the container and put it back into the serving bowl behind the counter!!! Very scary…

Very good! Get the yuca! I didn’t like the chicha morada but other than that give this place a try. Nice people at the counter too.

I really enjoyed my visit here. Minus the very plain Jane name stating the obvious, Peruvian Chicken and Steak serves decent Americanized Peruvian cuisine that fits the bill when you’re hungry. For my meal I ordered the quarter cut chicken, yucca and a small salad all for $ 5.95. I did not order a drink. They offered other traditional Peruvian cuisines like lomo saltado and whole chickens for a bit more of price, but less than what you’d pay at Peri Peri. I feel like I got a lot for my $ 5.95. It was well worth it and I’m surprised it was not a couple bucks more. This meal also gives you the choice of fries or yucca. Go with their yucca for more authenticity. The atmosphere is dismal with very little character in the space. I thought it was cute they were blaring Christian music in the background versus your typical Latin music you anticipate when you come in. Either way was fine with me. The music wasn’t overbearing nor loud. I’d recommend this as a grab and go more than dine in.

Very yummy! We got our food to-go and figured that we could try a variety of foods since this was our first time. The service here was friendly and quick. Don’t expect anything fancy when you go here. It is meant to take home and enjoy with the family. We got the chicken. Super moist. Very good. All of use agreed that we would def be getting this again. I wish we would have also gotten the steak as well! Next time… In addition, we got… French fries– Thick cut and very good. Nothing special but tasty to snack on while in the car on the ride home. Plantains– Verrrry tasty and moist. Well cooked and thick cut. Yucca– Thick cut. Make sure to get both the white and the green sauces for these. Both are good and are great if you dip in each. My only bummer on these was that they were too cold when we got home. I am glad I snuck one in the car. Rice and black beans– Tasty and hearty. Well seasoned. Nothing special but a great side to go along with the chicken quarters. Salad– Meh. Nothing special except that it had pickled red beets. I would probably skip this next time and just eat a salad I made at home. It was just iceburg. Boo. Flan– I am not a huge fan of flan but like it on occasion. Good consistency and taste. Great to share after eating loads of yummy chicken.

Yikes. Should’ve known when we walked in at noon and there was no one inside. Service: No greeting when we walked up, we just started ordering. And when the food came out, we were sitting at the table… but they just set the food at the counter. Granted – we ordered carry out, but we were the ONLY customers in the restaurant. Guess they didn’t appreciate us enough. Food: Tamal de Pollo: There was probably like a tsp of chicken total, and the tamale/corn stuff itself was very bland and the texture tasted like they mashed it together a long time ago, froze it and reheat it. Pollo Saltado: Gave a heap of white rice, and I guess the chicken/fries were plentiful, too, but I would not crave the food at all. It was mostly just a really salty experience. Atmosphere: Not sure they took a lot of time decking the place out. I mean, it’s not a big deal, but it would be nice. There is a lot of sunlight, though, and a lot of spaces to sit… for all the customers they seemingly get. Have no clue why this place is still in business. Hate to be harsh, but the employees are unwelcoming, and the food is either tasteless or too salty. Will not be returning…

Great Rotisserie Chicken, that’s it! The chicken is fabulous here… the sides are pretty good. They actually adhere well to the traditional Peruvian seasoning which we love. Don’t expect many amenities, this is primarily a take-out joint although it has plenty of eat-in space. Not the most comfortable or clean place I’ve experienced. Also, beware that they only have two dishes in the $ 5.99 range, everything else is $ 12.99 and up! Worth the stop-in for finger-lickin’ chicken!

Disclaimer: This was my first attempt to Peruvian food so my opinion should be taken with a pinch of salt. The good part — The place is spacious with lots of parking and in the middle of a busy area. The prices are dirt cheap but again I have not seen other Peruvian places. The green sauce is spice level 5 for most people and reminds me of Indian green chutney. Sauce should not be missed. The bad — I tried their Chicken and steak sandwich and it did not taste special or bad either. It felt like having mexican food. Only after I topped it with green sauce, it enhanced the taste of the food. Not a razzmatazz place so if you are looking to go out here for a date, stay away but a fine place for casual lunch/dinner.

Okay, but nothing special. Chicken is good, but not AMAZING like Super Chicken. Sorry, but Super Chicken just puts this place to shame. My fried yucka was tasty, but seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. My side salad was kind of pathetic. The interior is old, grimy and dirty — Service was fine, but I definitely felt like a gringo in the moonlight. No smiles at all… Super Chicken is way better…

I can’t believe there are so many mixed reviews for PCS?! This restaurant is one of my favorites in the DC area given the great price($ 4.50 for ¼ chicken, fries or yucca and a «meh» salad) and awesome chicken. I’ve enjoyed my meals here much more than Pollo Rico, Super Pollo and some of the other Peruvian chicken places in the area. I concur with one of the other Unilocalers that you should pass on the horchata.

This place is good. The chicken isn’t GREAT but it’s decent. The skin is crispy and the flavors there. When compared to other chicken joints around VA, they may NOT be the best but it’s worth a try or five. With that said, I love their plantains. Thanks to another Unilocaler, I had read that they served up some yummy plantains. I am a big fan of the plantains offered at Texas De Brazil. Since it’s impossible for me to go there on a regular basis, I have FINALLY found a cheaper restaurant that can serve plantains the way I LIKETHEM :) Soft, sweet, and just right. Their salads are good. Top it off with one of their side sauces(the best) and you’re in for a treat. The fries are fresh and crispy. They aren’t salty, which is how I like them on occasion. Dip your fries into one of their sauces and it’s a match made in heaven. I must try their yucca one of these days. The price is unbeatable. I get an OVERALL good meal here for a great price.

I like yucca/yam, especially when it’s fried. Just having it on your menu will get me in the door… Add a couple of rotisserie pieces of yardbird, and some platanos — and you definitely have my stamp of approval. Peruvian Chicken & Steak(formerly Desi’s?) is not unlike other Peruvian chicken joints(El Pollo Rico, Crisp & Juicy, etc.). They have three of the essential food groups covered, with a basic recipe for a full stomach. The gastronomical value quite exceeds the dollar value of what you get. I’d ordered extra verde & blanco sauces for 25 cents more, not knowing that they’d already given me alot. I came home with about 15 of those little containers in total — no lie! The fried plantains were excellent — a little less crispy on the outside; but, really soft, ripe and sweet. The chicken was perfect, the yucca/yam was substantial, and both my wallet and belly were full. I’ll be back — very soon.

Great tasting chicken and compared to other area Peruvian chicken places this place is definitely worth a try. A whole chicken is just under $ 10. Place is very spacious, big wide windows, and clean. Service was friendly. One thing I didn’t like was that you didn’t get, nor was I asked if I wanted or needed the white and green sauces you normally get anywhere else. Food was good and I’ll definitely be back for more.
