The Gun Dude is exelent! My wife and I stop by just for the coffee! They have a good selection of guns in their inventory and do a great job with FFL transfers. I appreciate their openness and honesty. If they can’t give you the best price they will tell you, and encourage you to purchase there instead.

Can’t say enough good things about The Gun Dude. I have been a patron since way back when they were at their previous location. I have watched them build their business over the last couple years, and I can tell you for certain that they are the hardest working crew in the gun retail business.
If you are new to firearms, there is no better gun shop for you to visit. Josh, Jeremiah, Jenna, Christine, Nick, and everyone else on staff are super friendly, approachable and service-​oriented. Most other gun shops leave things somewhat intimidating for newcomers – they may look down their nose at you, field your questions with annoyance, or even try to sell you something you don’t need. But at The Gun Dude, they offer you a cup of (really good) coffee and sit down with you to have a conversation about your needs and interests as a first-​time firearm buyer. They will go over everything you want to know, like safety practices, the responsibilities of gun ownership, where to find training, and what kinds of guns might be a good fit for your own intended uses and preferences; and – perhaps most importantly – the other aspects of protecting your self, family, home, or business, besides simply owning a gun.
They also put on regular free talks and seminars at the shop covering a variety of topics helpful to new gun owners, as well as free social events like spaghetti dinners where you can meet other members of the local gun-​owning community. It’s a very inclusive place where everybody is welcomed and treated well regardless of your personal background or your level of interest in firearms.
On the other hand, If you are a seasoned firearms enthusiast, there is still no better gun shop for you to visit. Since he first started the business, Josh has put a huge amount of effort into offering FFL transfers that are not only extremely affordable (only $ 20!), but also extremely easy and streamlined. He developed a transfer request system is entirely automated – simply purchase your firearm from your online retailer, then visit The Gun Dude’s website and fill out their simple online request form referencing the details of your order, and the retailer will be automatically emailed a copy of The Gun Dude’s FFL information so they can authorize immediate shipment of your gun to their shop. Then just wait to receive the email notification that your gun has arrived, go by the shop to complete your background check, and you’re on your merry way.
They have a diverse selection of used guns available in-​store for fondling and impulse-​buying, and If you want something specific or hard-​to-​find, they can also special-​order guns from a wide array of manufacturer catalogs. If you would like to sell a gun, they make it very easy to consign a firearm through their shopfront, and they also offer discounted FFL transfers if you would like to sell directly to another individual with a background check conducted.

Stopped in tonight to discuss a custom holster, Josh (who makes holsters onsite) showed me some options and a new design he just started making, we discussed what I was looking for and he went to work! 20 or 30 minutes (and a few cups of TGD coffee) later I had a top of the line custom holster that fit me and my firearm! I walked in thinking it would take a week to get and it might not be what I was looking for but oh how I was surprised. The product that I walked out with is 100x better than the 10 or so I tried and returned on Amazon. It even allows me to where my dress shirt tucked in and conceal carry. If you are looking for a new gun friendly place in NOVA you MUST check these guys out!

I hope that The Gun Dude serves as an indication of where the whole industry, and its associated culture, is headed. The atmosphere and interactions are geared to be inclusive, and stand in contrast to the stereotypical exclusive environments. Whether you are a first time buyer, or are a long time shooter that needs a local FFL to receive a hard to find item, they appear not only just happy to have your business, but genuinely interested in making sure you get the assistance that you need. For example, I was just transferring in an item (which was extremely reasonable at $ 20) and, without me having to ask, they offered to demonstrate the breakdown and reassembly. Based on my interaction and observing those with customers also in the shop, it is easy to tell that the staff are dedicated to doing everything they can to help each customer. As a bonus, they also do a better cup of (free!) coffee than a number of coffee shops.

One of the finest places to get coffee. There are some great tasting flavors and I have given many pounds of coffee as gifts to friends and family and they keep asking for more.
They also are a really cool gun shop and the easiest of places to do a transfer. I see a lot of people of all shapes and backgrounds coming to the Gun Dude for educations and seminars and doing purchases. Out of all the places I’ve done business this is by far the most comfortable and the least intimidating.

I had a custom holster made and it turned out PERFECT. I have a glock 21 with tac light and laser and within 2 days everything was done. Before I left they made sure everything was the perfect fit and exactly how I wanted it. Look no further. The best shop around.

Amazing service and excellent advice along with a cup of coffee as well. I did a FFL transfer today of a rifle and it was only $ 20 and as friendly as can be. This is a family owned business and they even provided an ownership stake to a longtime employee who is treated like family.
No snobby salesmen here– strictly professional advice and help with all your needs. The owner is more than happy to spend the time with you to ensure you choose the right firearm that suits your needs. I can’t recommend them enough and will do all my transfers here.
This place is perfect for those wanting to learn more about firearms and are happy to do a FFL transfer for those online purchases as well.

Out of all the shops and FFLs I have dealt with in the past decade, this is the ONLY place that has stood out as a top notch business.

Let me preface by saying I was a first time gun buyer, and the Dudes/​Dudettes made it the most painless transaction ever. I had shopped around for a pistol for a while, and ultimately went with The Gun Dude because of their excellent service.
I initially emailed them about purchasing a Taurus PT92. I got a response within the half hour (not the norm I’m sure, they seem to be a very busy bunch), and that immediately got my attention. Not only were they informative on what they could provide, the services they offered included with a purchase, and a competitive price for the firearm, there was just a certain err of familiarity and eagerness to help me find the right gun at the right price.
I eventually came in the store and was immediately greeted by Jenna. She was quick to recall what I was looking for when I told her who I was and what I wanted. I ended up asking if she could find a stainless version of the PT92, and she scoured the stores partners to find the gun that I wanted. All of this while getting hounded by phone calls and requests. Believe me when I say, she kept her head on a swivle while helping me and about three others. She eventually found a vendor that had the stainless in stock and gave me a price I didn’t even have to think twice on. Jenna deserves any and all praise for her excellent service.
If you’re in the market for a firearm in northern VA, go to The Gun Dude. You’ll be treated like family, they’ll sell you the right gun at the best price, you can pick up some coffee on your way out if you need to (oh yeah, they’re a coffee shop also, bad ass), and you won’t regret your purchase.

Literally the best staff a gun store can have. They walked me through each firearm I was interested in and the process was so fast and simple I was done within 30 mins. Best place in Northern Virginia to purchase a firearm.

Even though there was a slight snaffu with my purchase, the staff did a great job of accommodating me and even gave me a better product at a cheaper price. Definitely consider the Gun Dude for all of your firearms needs.

Pretty cool that FCC has a gun shop now! My husband and I have made several purchases here over the past few months (gun order, ammo, FFL transfer). The shop is set up well. I love that you can just walk around and hold different guns without having to have them passed over the counter one by one. It really takes the pressure off the browsing process. They don’t have a ton of merchandise in stock, but they’re also happy to order whatever you’re looking for.
We’ve been helped by The Gun Dude himself, Mrs. Gun Dude, and Jeremiah. Jeremiah is my favorite, while my husband likes The Gun Dude, probably ’cause his name has «Dude» in it. :) All three have been friendly and helpful, though they can admittedly get a little swamped if there are more than one or two other customers in store. I try to go at off-​peak times if possible. If you do end up waiting, there’s some comfy couches and free coffee/​reading material to pass the time.
My recent FFL transfer went pretty smoothly and at $ 20 it’s the cheapest price around (even cheaper if you pick up a free «Family Card» that entitles you to a free transfer after the first 5!).
Note: If you’re pretty new to buying guns online, know that Gun Dude (like most other gun shops, it seems!) might take awhile to contact you after the shipment arrives. If you’re itching to get your purchase ASAP, be sure to check the tracking information yourself and swing by the shop when delivery is complete.

Went to the TGD for the first time last week. All the reviews are true! Great shop and great people. I had my girlfriends shotgun that seized up a little due to moisture build up. They had it cleaned up in about 30 mins very good price as well. Would recommend anyone going there for service, purchases, or transfers.

Prior to visiting TGD, I have never owned any firearm and thought the process might be very difficult. However, the experience at TGD was completely the polar opposite. I began by doing some online research and found a great deal on a handgun, but did not know how to conduct a transfer. That was quickly solved by going through TGD’s website, which lists the step by step process, the forms you’d have to fill out, the necessary forms of identification, and just about anything else you’d need to do a transfer. However, I was recently issued a new drivers license and did not know if that met the requirement for the forms of identification, so I decided to take a visit to the shop to see if TGD could answer my questions.
The moment I arrive at TGD i was greeted by Nick and he was able to answer all my questions. He was even willing to walk through the website form with me just to make sure I understood the entire process.
I get home, purchase my firearm and send it off to TGD for transfer. I then went to TGD’s website and completed the automated transfer process, paid for the transfer in advance, and got all the forms I needed before my firearm arrived. This made the actual transfer process very quick. Once my firearm did arrive and I went to pick it up, the guy who arrived a bit before me was not quite IT savvy and messed up some of the instructions for transfer, but TGD was quick to help him out too. After he was taken care of, my transfer was completed without any hiccups. TGD was very helpful to a first time guy like myself and has earned by business going forward.

So glad that The Gun Dude is back in business! Originally used them for a FFL transfer back when they ran out of the owner’s house in Springfield, and was really disappointed when I think some zoning issues forced them to close their doors.
But they’re back, and even better than ever! The new shop in Falls Church is really picturesque, designed like an Apple Store so that you can freely handle and examine the guns on display.
The experience that has won me over even further is that I recently purchased a CZ 75 P-​07 Duty and tried to modify it myself, losing a few parts and messing the whole thing up in the process. I went in and spoke to both Josh, the owner, and his brother, Jeremiah, and ultimately I was without my gun for a total of 20 minutes while it was fixed on the spot!
Great customer service, expeditious gunsmithing and a unique firearm shopping experience inside the beltway. Total aces, 5 stars.

Great experience! The store is new and bright and pleasant to be in, not the 1980s strip mall feel of a lot of gun shops. I brought in my P226 to consign, as I am moving overseas and cannot bring it. It’s been a while since I bought it, so they spent some time researching pricing before agreeing on a very fair price and reasonable consignment terms. Beyond a good outcome, they are clearly great guys, too, and I enjoyed chatting with them a bit after we wrapped up the transaction.
Bottom line: I’d happily send my wife, mother, or sister to this shop, knowing that they would get a fair deal from good people.
