Yes! Rough River Dam State Resort Park is as good as it gets! It is only about 1.5hr away from Louisville but it felt like we were on a faraway vacation. We had a wonderful time here a couple of weeks ago. We rented a pontoon boat from the state dock and stayed a night in one of the two bedroom cottages. We have never driven a boat before. I made this clear when I called the dock for reservations. The dock clerk was most reassuring: «no problem, we’ll show you what to do.» They were equally patient once we got on the boat. They showed up how everything works; gave us maps and a phone number to call if we get in any trouble. As we found out soon after, driving this pontoon really is as easy as driving a car! We had the best time of our lives on a lake! It did not hurt that the weather was perfectly sunny and balmy. We explored the lake and its branches over a course of about 4hrs. We saw beautiful natural rock formations that can only be seen from a boat. We also dropped anchor to have a nice little boat picnic! Yes! We will definitely do this again next year! The price was not too steep either(8ppl max): $ 100/weekday and $ 150/weekend day plus gas. The cottage is as nice as the other state resort parks’ cottages we’ve stayed. It is equipped with a full bath, stove, full size fridge, dishes and TV with cable. There is also a nice fold-out couch. And if that is not outdoorsy enough for you, the cottage also has a screened in porch plus a fire ring and grill outside. I don’t think a glamper like me can ask for anything else! The check-in and check-out was also very easy and pleasant. The service desk clerks were friendly and efficient. They even called us about 30min. after check-in to make sure we have everything we need. I highly recommend a visit to your state resort park if you have not been!
