Doubletree by Hilton

My wife preordered a room a week and a half prior to our visit. The room was not at all of what was ordered on the confirmation receipt. We order a large room with a king size bed with a balcony view of the lake, (gotta let some country out right now), got no balcony, got no lake, (unless they were counting the parking lot as their lake) when addressed the front desk clerk Alyssa of this issue, instead of her checking the computer for the possible error, she spoke with her manager Lisa whom instantly stated in order to UPGRADE to that room it would cost an extra $ 20. I then re-​informed them both that the Confirmation clearly stated that we are to have a king sized bed with a balcony view over the lake, they requested a copy of our confirmation sheet, and I pulled it up on my phone and showed them what had been ordered, the manager Lisa, then gave a funny look on her face upon receiving the information as if we wanted to cheat them out of $ 20, front desk clerk Alyssa apologized for the inconvenience it caused, and stated that she didn’t understand why their system said something different. Alyssa gave us a room on the 5^th floor in h honors. (Now the fun begins) the room appeared nice until you began to look closely, there were hanging WEBBS near the balcony doors which indicated to me that the room had not been recently serviced, and there were multiple spots around the tub that appeared to be mold. Then for most of the night, the ice machine was malfunctioning and making noises and we (you’ve guessed it) happened to be the lucky ones whom just so happened to have the room right next to it!
WE WILL NEVER MAKE THIS MISTAKE OR RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE, WE SHOULD HAVE REQUESTED OUR MONEY BACK, ESPECIALLY AFTER SPEAKING WITH CORPORATE AND FINDING OUT THAT SOMEONE INTERNALLY MADE CHANGES TO OUR RESERVATION!!!

I really wanted to give this place a 5 star but there was a couple of things that prevented that. For one, we were there over Memorial Day and they were running behind in getting folks checked in due to the hotel was full and they did not have enough staff to get everything ready. I know folks have a life outside of work, believe me I get that but it is a holiday weekend, any hotel should know they are bound to be jammed. Even more so when there is a major soccer tournament in town, the Rangers on a holiday weekend home stand and a Jimmy Buffett concert just a bit down the road. Also, in our room the shower curtain had a weird odor to it, like it was musty or dirty. This was not a real big deal seeing as well, if you are doing more than opening/​closing the curtain you need some help but still something the cleaning folks should of taken care of.
Now on to the good. For starters their staff could not be any more kind if they tried. They were apologetic for the delay in checking in and even gave us extra cookies for the trouble (BTW their cookies are the bomb!). The room overall was in great shape and well maintained. The bed was the most comfortable we had ever slept in. The noise level overall is quiet and I can say that knowing there was multiple youth soccer teams staying there. When I was coaching youth hockey and staying in a hotel there was a constant noise coming from anywhere inside and well, we could not hear a peep when we were inside. They have tons of parking which is also a plus. Oh one more thing, if you have to wait in the lobby it is large with ample seating and free coffee and water. They have a restaurant there but we never used it so I have no comment on it.
We would stay there again without a doubt. Outside of the couple minor issues I mentioned our stay there could not have been better.

Totally dated facility Room smell. Great staff. NOTHiNG in area. AH overall should not be called Double Tree

Prostitute was entering the room next to mine when I arrived around 10pm. I came down to the front desk very distraught requesting a new room, as you can hear through the walls. Lisa re-​booked me into a new room that smelled completely like cigarette smoke. Very frustrated at this point, I called down to request yet another room when Lisa told me this was a non-​smoking hotel and this smell was not possible. I guess there was more than one person in the hotel breaking the law… then Lisa suggested I change hotels as she couldn’t guarantee any of the other available rooms would be better. This is not the customer experience I expect from a Hilton. Rooms are very dated, dirty, and make you feel grungy. Will not come back.

I love the lobby downstairs, it’s large with multiple tables and outlet plugs; a great place for business and getting school work done. The décor is updated so it doesn’t look old, and service is where it should be, good.
I am not a big fan of some of the carpet, but overall not bad. Rooms are clean, well kept each day, and the most important thing, everything works! For the price it is a ⁵⁄₅ star in my books.

Positives: Large room, convenient location, clean.
Negatives: We did not sleep well because the A/​C is SO loud. It sounds like the bathroom fan is on, but you cannot turn it off because that’s the A/​C.
The bed was just okay. There were service hiccups such as that I requested foam pillows with the reservation, but this request was not fulfilled. I requested shampoo and conditioner that were not brought up, then the service desk lady said she would bring them up herself, but it wasn’t she who delivered them. The shampoo bottle knocks over very easily and looks like it should stand on its lid but doesn’t.
For the price, I expected all of these would have been taken care of.
I might come back here if the location and price were right, otherwise I don’t recommend it.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times. This is the last. Checked in last might. I was fifth in line with one clerk checking in and other handing out cookies. I would have thought checking in a line of customers would take priority but then I don’t run a hotel.
The room was comfortable and cool (100 degrees out). This morning I had calls to take and a late departure from the hotel so I didn’t shower until 9:30. No hot water. I managed a cool shower without too much screaming and on checkout was told this is common when the hotel is full. I reminded the young lady that this should not be my problem.
Need to stay in the area? Try the Omni. Much nicer and they have hot water. Oh, the cookie was cold too.

Some of these reviews seems like robots and some seem to be from Aholes. Here is my take on the place. Called st 8pm or so and booked a room. Spoke to a Lisa (never faced her in person) she was nice and took care of me. Showed up and checked in quick, and got a warm cookie. That was nice. Ac controls were a bit older but the room had updated furniture and stuff. Comfy beds and pillows. Odd thing, window dripped in water overnight. Ill let them know about it. A pleasant stay. Right on the river. Oh oh oh. The bartender Letty was very nice and fun to talk too. We walked up late at last call and she was very generous. No free buffet but there is a breakfast you can pay for. Not expansive really. I would stay here again. Im an easy going guy so if you are a nit picker i probably missed some things you would have complained about. Anyway, hope this helps. Also surounding area is nice and quiet. We felt safe.

Pretty good place to stay. Cookie at check in and the staff was very kind.
I ate dinner in the bar which was ok. It’s just bar food on a fancy menu but it was good. Glass of beer was $ 6 and the burger was $ 12.
Bed was soft, sheets were clean, room was nice. I would recommend it if you are ever stuck in Dallas and need a quick spot to stay from the airport.

I’m honestly used to the Doubletree being a fairly nice, hotel for an affordable price. This one does not foot that bill. This particular Doubletree would fall into a category of quite overpriced, just ok hotel.
I stayed here the last Thursday and Friday nights in October and was not at all impressed. The staff at the front desk was very nice and always helpful. The cleaning crew, while nice, they do not listen. I’ll admit, I probably could have prevented the following scenario by placing the ‘do not disturb’ placard on the door, but what can I say, I’m stupid sometimes. Friday morning, I was greeted with a *knock knock* «hello?» *click* and the door opening. While I spring up and say «Not Today, not today. Thank you, but I won’t need any cleaning service today.» I figured that would work, even after repeating the process 3 more times before leaving for the day at 11 AM.
The air freshener in the hallway was WAY too powerful and at its source in the Elevator area, almost headache inducing.
Funny note, the signs in the elevators (yes both elevators had this issue) directing people to use the stairs in case of emergency were falling apart. One of the signs was in more disarray than the other, but both were falling apart. I wonder when they were last inspected. …hmmm.
Upon returning to my hotel room that evening, I discovered that the 4, count ‘em four, times I informed the cleaning staff I would not need their services that day fell upon deaf (possibly lost in translation) ears. They had entered the room and «cleaned». There had been no cleaning done, only straightening. The beds were made, the towels were hung and the coffee station replenished. However, upon closer inspection, the paper covers on the glasses at the coffee station had not been replaced with new covers, but merely the old covers that had coffee dripped on them and had fallen on the floor were placed back on the glasses. Hooray! What else did the «clean» and is that how the room was «cleaned» between the last guest checking out and ME checking in?!? Oh goody, what kind of nastiness did I just sleep in? Nope… stop, that was a rhetorical question to which I do NOT need an answer.
While taking a bath, my girlfriend noticed the grout in the shower looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a VERY long time. Chalking that up with everything else we encountered at this hotel in regard to cleanliness, I really don’t think I’ll be going back to this location. That and it’s a bit pricey for not being very conveniently located.

The Doubltree hotels used to be really nice back in the early 2000s, but it seems they’ve fallen behind since. I would say this hotel is average for the price… maybe even a little overpriced. This review is both positive and negative, and I think they even each other out.
Front Desk/​Staff — Professional, nice, friendly. Always love the chocolate chip cookie. Apples in the lobby for the taking is another plus for a healthy snack.
The hallway air freshener on my floor smells like pee-​cakes. Not pee. Just pee cakes.
Room — Décor is a little outdated but clean. The thermostat is still knob-​based as opposed to digital. furnishings and curtains are OK. The room smells kind of like… mothballs? Shoe polish? I don’t know what it is… doesn’t smell horrible, but not pleasant either.
Bathroom — also very average. Cheap looking counters but really nice rain shower head.
Toiletries — Love the toiletries. Smell like lemon and nice sized bottles. For the price, it would be nice if they also provided q-​tips and cottonballs.
Room service — nice service. Food is moderately priced, about $ 15 to $ 20 an entre… food looked good, but the taste was mediocre… too salty. I had the chicken breast dinner with roasted potatoes and a minestrone soup, and it was all very salty. The saltine crackers that came with the soup were all stale (how long have they been around??).
Free breakfast included with my rate so we;ll see how that goes in the morning.

The Double Tree is never my first choice of hotels. I had a work trip scheduled during a NASCAR race and the Final Four so there were not many options left.
Pros:
— Very hot water in the rooms. I read reviews from another site about their previous water issues, but the issues appear to be resolved.
— Joey, the engineer, was helpful but is in high demand around the premises.
— I had a nice time hanging out in the salon area with my co-​workers listening to music from our phones (it’s a small, cozy room with a couch and two chairs). Joey was nice enough to provide me with a blanket (it’s chilly in there). They should model their guest rooms after the salon.
Middle of the Road:
— A warm cookie is provided at check in — a nice gesture, but it was stale and just reheated or something.
— Some buttons on the phone did not work but it did not really impact me. I just used my cell phone to call the front desk.
— It would have been nice to have a makeup mirror, a fridge and a microwave but that was not advertised on the list of amenities. You can rent a fridge or microwave for $ 15.
— No fault of the hotel, but there was a lot of door slamming going on. Next time purchase less slam-​able doors ;)
— The breakfast seemed appetizing to me but I did not partake. My co-​workers thought the food was okay, but it could get crowded at times.
Cons:
— The front desk customer service was not particularly great. They over promised my co-​worker some amenities and were unable to deliver (kind sized bed, balcony etc). It was not the fault of the person checking us in, but she did not handle it well.
— I rented a microwave for $ 15 because I need to heat water to a certain temperature. The microwave was FILTHY (see pictures). The engineer did come into my room to clean it with disinfectant, but it still gave me the creeps. Also, I mentioned this to the front desk staff and they just laughed. Really they should have refunded me. Update: I received my bill and they did not charge me.
— Terrible mirror and lighting in the bathroom. My highlights looked green and my skin jaundiced.
— Flushing the toilet sounds like a jet engine taking off.
— There were some cracks in the vanity in my room. One of my co-​workers had a broken mirror in her room and the sink stopper was missing. The bed light took like 20 pushes of a button to turn on and created a burning smell in the morning. It took me 4 or 5 tries to get in the room with my card every single time I tried.
— Slowest elevator on earth!
Basically, the stay was fine. It was liveable but not preferred.

LOVED this hotel! For $ 70 a night we experienced friendly staff, great housekeeping service, warm chocolate chip walnut cookies at check-​in, extremely comfortable bed and pillows, and had an overall great experience. Safe area, clean rooms, beautiful lake view from the back.

Stopped while passing thru to AR. The staff here are sincerely courteous and extremely helpful. The hotel is clean and the beds are heavenly. Would definitely recommend!

In one year’s time (from April 2012 to April 2013), something happened here; first off, they screwed up my room reservation, which was for three nights — to two nights. Second, they always had breakfast vouchers for HHonors Silver and up rewards members that they don’t have anymore. These guys had an awesome breakfast, which was one of the reason I wanted to book this hotel again when I’m on business in Dallas, but never again. I’m almost sick and tired of the entire HHonors and Hilton bullshit.

For being a Doubletree (which is a little sister company of Hilton) it was quite a disappointment as far as the «details» but thank goodness for our Groupon deal or else the money would have been weeping from being spent wastefully! Just to give a few examples of them not having all their stuff together, our room had one telephone that was working and one that was not. The food that we ordered for «room service» was not a freshly cooked «hot meal» but just some food from their breakfast buffet that was dumped onto a plate and brought to our room. I must admit that their «pastry» option on their menu was pretty good, though. Their hot water came in a carafe that made the water taste and smell like burnt coffee instead of fresh hot water. The blanket that was provided as a cover was not really attached to the actual duvet sheet so at the end of the day, there were a bunch of different pieces that were kind of roaming around and not in one comfortable piece. The rooms themselves were pretty clean and smelled ok. Their bed was comfortable but you can never go wrong with a kingsize right? hehe

Not impressed.

I will start by saying we always stay at Hilton properties. This was my first at Doubletree. We usually book our rooms on the Hilton Honors site. I thought I would save a few bucks by booking on
and figured out why that is possible: the rooms are the worst in the hotel.
We booked a lakeview room with a balcony. The view was of the trees; no lake, second floor. Also, the double room had two single beds, a little smaller than a full.
Because I am a diva, I called Christopher at the front desk and asked whether we could switch to a King. He graciously set us up with a King room with a beautiful lake view on a much higher floor. On top of that, he gave us yummy cookies and two tickets for free drinks at the bar. As always, Hilton has excellent service!

My wife and I stayed here, just to get out of the house for a night. I was here 1 time before for a reception but I didn’t stay in a room.
The front desk person was really nice and mentioned the Doubletree cookies would be ready in another 5 minutes. My wife loves those cookies. I am not a big cookie fan. I think the elevators were kinda slow, but the room was a basic DT room. We had a balcony and everything worked in the room. I did not have any issues with the free WiFi in the room. My wife really liked the Wolfgang Puck coffee as well. I am not a big coffee person either.
We went down to the lobby bar and had a few drinks. My wife had an Amaretto Sour and I had a Bud light. The normal hotel prices for these 2 drinks was $ 12.00, but the nice bartender gave us the happy hour prices due to it was real slow, which was really nice of her. We did eat and we shared a burger. It was good and juicy. It was a decent size and it came with a pickle and chips.
Our room came with a free breakfast. We received it from the manager, but normally the hot breakfast is 12.95 and the cold breakfast is 9.95 per person. He had the hot breakfast which was really good. They have an omelet station which they will make for you, bacon, eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and sausage. If you pay for the hot breakfast you also get the cold items which included tea, juices, yogurt with granola, pastries, fruit, milk and cereal. Since there is not a breakfast place around the hotel and if you have the money I would pay for this breakfast, It was better than other hotel breakfast I have had.
Check out was super easy since I did it through the TV and we would stay here again if we just need a night away from everything. We had a great time.

My first night at this hotel. Remote control broken, and they are unable to replace or fix it.
Hotel claims to have broadband access, performance was unusable. Called main desk which passed me to their tech support who informed me that they have a 512K/​256k circuit serving the entire hotel. That kind of bandwidth for a residential broadband is unacceptable, let alone serving an entire hotel.
This is a hotel chain owned by Hilton in a major metro area, I expect more.
