When I was little and would visit Guatemala this place was always a must. Although I don’t remember much of the taste from the food I do remember this place use to have a more fast food feel. Anyways I drove from plano all the way out here for this place and it was well worth it. The chicken is nice and crispy, yet moist and flavorful.(and not heavily greasy feeling) No regrets whatsoever when it comes to ordering a large side of platanos, trust me you’ll go through them quick.

I’m glad to have a Pollo Campero closer to home after a couple of years of going to the one on I-20. I’m still figuring out all the menu changes, but the food is all good. The grilled chicken and new flavors of empanadas and sauces are a welcome addition. I still prefer the Campero fried chicken, but I’m glad they are making it easier to try the grilled and the nuggets with the Latin Trio.

I’ve never seen the look of disgust on my co-worker’s face until I saw him attempt to finish the grilled chicken from this place. After talking to another who had eaten at this place, he agreed that he would never ever eat there again too. No problem, note taken, I will never attempt to eat this chicken. Now the question is, how long will this place survive???

The Empanadas are so good all of them and the fries are good as well. Their honey mustard is really good and I like their cilantro lime dipping sauce.

I’ve never seen these before until I went to Carrollton, I love their sides and drinks! The first time I had it I went there three days straight. Be careful their empanadas, plantains, and yucca fried are highly addictive. I’m not even going to return to try the flan cause it will be hard to stay away!

Tasty chicken, terrific beans… a big hit with families. But, we miss many of the things from the older Northwest Highway location. There’s no longer a place to get fixin’s to make your own tacos. No cilantro, pico, or peppers. So, our tortillas don’t become tacos as often. Alas. We liked the look and layout of the old location better too. Staff can be out of touch. Some of this is a language barrier perhaps. Recently we asked if we could change the TV channel from an Univision Soap Opera(yes) to the Rangers game. Not happening. Management should look into how this outlet is being run on a weekly basis. On our visit, they were OUT of white meat chicken. Next time we’ll need to be careful when we order a «mix» of chicken: ours arrived all fried, instead of half fried, half citrus. Tables could be cleaned more frequently. There are not many options at the soda fountain, so your best bet may be the fruit juices up front. Things don’t always move quickly here. This is OK, but don’t expect to walk out with chicken as quickly as you would at other fast-food places. Chicken«nuggets» are all white meat and good, but note this is NOT the same breading as on the regular chicken… there’s more of a hot mustard flavor here. It’s difficult to get to this location coming from Northwest Highway. Expect to jog thru a parking lot or make a u-turn. In short, we will return, but it will likely be for pickup so we can return home and add our own stuff.

In the land of fast food fried chicken, Pollo Campero wins hands down. I love this place. I drive from East Dallas all the way over here to get their chicken. The seasoning is great. I also love the rice and black beans. And yes, the plantains. I’ve not had anything I didn’t like. You may pay a buck more, but it’s so worth it. And they load the bowls. If you get one, be hungry.

I like their easy to understand menu. Also very appreciated for the pronounciation help on the drink menu lol. The chicken, yucca fries and tortilla all taste very good. Will be back for empanadas(do their survey for free empanadas) !

Citrus Peruvian grill chicken is better than Pollo Tropical; and I love Pollo Tropical! Giselle was super friendly and suggested I fill out the survey bc I was torn between the chicken and the empanadas. The spicy chicken empanada was good but the grilled was out of this world: nice and juicy breast!

YOLO so must eat this Pollo! This is a pretty detailed review, so if you just want to know the nitty-gritty, it’s really good. I was waiting for a prescription to be ready at the Walgreens across the street, and Unilocal directed me across the street vs. driving through Whataburger next door. I had been there before, ordered a fried chicken sandwich, and sacked every salty morsel. But literally gained 2 lbs overnight due to the salt. So, i went to their website, checked out their menu nutrition options, and BAM saw a(semi) healthy choice of grilled breast and wing meal that comes with a side, choice of roll /tortilla, and drink. I almost chose the slaw(they have 2 kinds, and when restaurants have more than one choice of same veggie, you know their going to be good). But, nutrition facts steered me away, and I chose a better option: black beans. Sprinkled with just the right amount of onions throughout plus the creamy sauce made them surprisingly gourmet. I’ll post some photos, of both food and online nutritional value… the sodium is off the chart, and it’s all the seasoning in the skin. And trust me, it’s yummy. But even peeling it off, the bare meat is flavored just enough. It’s a mystery how they pack so much flavor and keep it moist! I also ordered the chicken nugget meal(menu name is different than«nuggets»), but that’s what they are. I tried one and would rate it a 3 out of 5. And their fries are definitely not made in house. But it’s a Latin restaurant. Not a Mickey D’s.

First visit. Mainly Hispanic customers filled the place. Counter staff said fried chicken is their main dish. Tried two piece dark which I got with two corn tortillas and a side of Campero Beans(pinto beans). The fried chicken was hot, tender, and moist. The breading was not over thick. The chicken was good. What I enjoyed the most however were the pinto beans and the home style corn tortillas. The place was crowded at the end of lunch hour, but I didn’t have to wait over 5 – 10 minutes for my order. I would return and try some other options if I’m in the neighborhood. It’s between SAMs club and the southbound approach to Love Field.

Pollo Campero is fast but definitely NOT fast food. They have items that are not found in or of a quality not found in other restaurants in Dallas. Their Yucca fries are unique. Their spicy fried chicken has skin that is much crispier than Popeye’s. They also do not re-use their fry oil from day to day. A lot of places re-use fry oil. If you reuse the fry oil, the fried chicken skin will be dark colored and have a slightly rancid smell. Their fried chicken skin is light gold colored and definitely not rancid. Their tortillas are wrapped in saran wrap in order to hold moisture. Other places serve a much drier tortilla. Their Plantains are not greasy like other places. The Yucca fries are unique as I’ve never tried it anywhere else in Dallas. The empanadas are very meaty and flavorful. There is nothing bad here. However, the guava drink is a bit sweet, so be sure to drink it with ice. It is too sweet to drink without ice. Also, even though it is a fast food restaurant, the manager and workers here are really nice and will bend over backwards to make it a great meal for you. So, if you have any special requests, be sure to ask. For example, if you’re not in a hurry and you don’t want the chicken under the heat lamps, say so, and they will make your chicken to order, piping hot and juicy. Buen Provecho!

This is bar none the best spicy fried chicken place in Dallas. It is definitely worth it to go out of your way to come here. The restaurant has simple décor and is really clean. The staff here really bend over backward to make your meal to your satisfaction. The manager Luis really cares about your dining experience and since the manager sets the tone for any establishment, all the workers here work really hard to make your meal memorable. For example, even though it is a fast food restaurant and they have chicken under heat lamps for fast service, if you are not in a hurry, you can request that they cook your chicken to order and they will spend some quality time to make some really fresh, crispy, juicy fried chicken for you. Yum! Here is how they stand out. Other places that serve platanos in the DFW area will serve it dripping with oil. Pollo Campero will not do this. It is lightly fried in oil and then drained thoroughly afterwards so it won’t be greasy. Other places do not serve Yucca fries. I have never had Yucca fries in the DFW area before. Their empanadas are meatier, moister, and more flavorful than any other place that serves empanada in Dallas. Heck, it is even better than the empanadas I ate in the Andes. The price is right, too. The empanadas are only $ 1.49. The maiz tortillas are moister than in other places because they wrap it in saran wrap to keep the moisture in. Many other places that serve fried chicken will reuse their fry oil from day to day. Pollo Campero changes their fry oil daily because the fried chicken is light golden brown and fragrant. Reusing fry oil results in a dark brown chicken that smells a bit rancid. All of these dishes are better than anything you’d find anywhere else in the DFW area because of their attention to detail. Even their to go boxes are superior. Other places will put fried chicken in styrofoam boxes. When you put hot fried chicken in styrofoam, the hot chicken will melt the foam and you will be eating carcinogenic styrofoam. Not good. Pollo Campero uses cardboard boxes for take out, which is costlier than styrofoam, but much better for the environment and your health. The roast chicken is very tasty if you eat the meat with your choice of flavorful sauce(they’ll give you 4 types of sauces), a sprtiz of lime and a maiz tortilla. If you drink their guava drink with a cup full of ice and wait for some of the ice to melt, then it is perfect and not too sweet. The guava drink reminds me of this crazy pink alcoholic drink the Andes Indians drink out of enormous glasses with a super long sipping straw. The drinks at Pollo Campero are non-alcoholic, though. This is the only Peruvian fast food restaurant in the DFW area that I know of. The portions are big, the food is tasty, the price is right, and you will definitely leave with a smile on your face. Mucho sabor! Ay, ay, ay!!!

Pollo Campero is definitely a fast food establishment. You can tell that from the moment you pull in to the well-lit and extremely clean parking lot. However, you will never know it by the excellent quality of the food! I was PLEASANTLYSURPRISED!!! My dinner companion had told me how good Pollo Campero was. It has been on my list of places to try, but this was my first dining experience there. What makes Pollo Campero so unique is the marinate, which gives their chicken the«Sabor Campero» edge above the rest. We both had a hankering for chicken, so we got the new Half Chicken Special at a great price of $ 8.99. That way, we could sample both the fried and baked chicken. We got different side dishes so we could try a little of everything. The Campero Rice and Campero Beans were my favorites. The Campero beans were another surprise for me. The Campero beans were much thicker than I typically like – not quite as thick as refried beans, close to no juice at all. They were good, and next time I will ask for extra juice. Now, you might have to save a piece of chicken to take home with you, for a snack, if nothing else. That way, you can save room for dessert. Again, with the desserts we each got different desserts and split them, so we were able to taste them both. I preferred Cuatro Leches, and my dinner companion preferred the Caramel Flan. I suggest getting both desserts, and making your own decision. I recommend this establishment– yes it is fast food, but you will never know it by the quality and taste of the food.

I’m no expert in Cuban food because DFW does not have an abundant amount of Cuban population. When I think of Cuban, I think of Cuban sandwiches. I’m not too familiar with other types of Cuban food. With that being said, I have enjoyed my visit to Pollo Campero. I was able to try a little bit of their menu. Got some fried chicken, grill chicken, Camperitos(nuggets), and empanadas. sweet plantains, THEBEST!!! I love sweet plantains! These were so good. I make these at home but they are no where near this good. Must get this as a side. Camperitos, not your average chicken nuggets. I could eat these everyday. They were meaty and delicious! empanadas, I see myself coming back for these spicy chicken empanadas. They were so good. It’s hard to keep the quality of the pastries in a fast food joint but they delivered. fried chicken, They were also good but between this and the camperitos. I’d go with the camperitos. grill chicken, flavorful with lime and herbs. Juicy on the inside. All were delicious!

Guatemala has another excellent export after their iconic woven textiles-Pollo Campero! I had a delicious meal there tonight that allowed me to sample several of their menu items and they are all delightful in different ways. Their Camperitos chicken tenders are full-on white meat(not processed mystery chicken substance) served hot and sizzling with a side of creamy and delicious cilantro, jalapeño dipping sauce. My spicy chicken empanada was steamy, light and filled with very tasty diced white meat chicken. I really enjoyed the crispy skin of the fried chicken pieces I got and the roasted chicken breast was moist and tender with a hint of citrus marinade flavor. Their signature Campero beans tasted slow cooked, home-style and their black beans are simple and unadorned, but very tasty. And lastly, to top off this Guatemalan feast, of the items I tried, their yucca fries were steaming hot, crisp on the outside and warm and tender on the inside. I will be returning to Pollo Campero for delightful and delicious delicacies from our Central American neighbor, Guatemala and you should give it a try too!

This place is tasty! We stop here at least once a week. The grilled chicken is tender & flavorful — it falls right off of the bone. The Camperitos aren’t your normal chicken nuggets either — they are all white meat & have herb flavorings that are complemented by the cilantro cream sauce. As far as the sides are concerned the Yucca fries are my favorite, especially if you’re looking for a something slightly different than regular french fries. My wife loves the plantains. The food may take a little longer & may be a little more expensive than your usual drive-thru, but it’s definitely worth it. Also, the staff is always friendly.

This menu looks much better and different than when I tried it several years back. I love the variety of fried and grilled chicken, spicy or not. I had the spicy chicken empanadas(order of 3) and they were perfectly sized to feed 1−½ people. The chicken wasn’t exactly spicy but flavorful for sure! I will certainly make sure to try one of their dipping sauces with it: honey mustard, chipotle honey,(I forgot the other two :(sorry)!!! I definitely plan to come back to try more more more!

The good news is that the food is just as delicious as at the old location. But you can tell that this store is geared towards the drive-thru, as the dining area is just a fraction of that in the prior location. Parking is more of a problem, as well. The majority of the parking is on the right side of the building, but you have to walk around to the front, to get inside(and there are only a handful of parking spaces on the front side). And there’s still no left turn into Sam’s from eastbound NW Hwy, where the store is located, giving you an extra light or two to wait through. I commend them for using degradable cardboard containers, and paper bags, long before Dallas’s plastic bag law went into effect. But be careful of grease soak-through, if you have a long trip home. I haven’t said much about the food. I always get 3 pieces, fried, and the«gringo» sides(my term, not theirs) of fries and a roll. They usually cook the fries to order, so they’re hot. Rolls are meh at best. The chicken is always juicy, with a thin, flavorful crust. Tip for take-outs: always check your order before you leave. The get my simple, right-off-the-menu order wrong about 25% of the time. If you like a thickly breaded fried chicken, like KFC, you won’t find it here. But if you like tender, juicy meat, and flavorful crust, you’re at the right place.

I was in the mood for some good protein and remembered the opening of this newish addition to FB. After a shopping trip across the street at Walmart Neighborhood Market, decided to give this spot a try. Drive through was a little slow, but after all this is not McD’s and is not quite the typical fast food joint. I am a lover of dark meat so ordered two grilled thighs and two legs. That seemed confusing to the server as their grilled chicken does not come in individual pieces. After much conversation, she said she would give me two orders of ¼ chicken, each one leg and thigh. Okay, that will work. I also ordered a small cole slaw and opted for the included roll instead of a tortilla. To my surprise I get to the window to pay and it’s $ 9.73 including tax. Huh? This for 4 pieces of chicken and one cole slaw? I must say the chicken was delicious, moist, fall off the bone tender with the perfect smoky spicy flavor. I did enjoy this. Thus the reason for a weak 3 star instead of a 2. Not so much the cole slaw. It was drowned in a heavy mayo dressing; one bite, rest went down the disposal. As for the roll, it was MIA; I scrounged through the bag and it was not to be found. Sad face :( This meal would have been close to four stars were it not for the price and the roll left behind on the counter. Again, $ 9.73 for 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks just didn’t leave a good taste in my mouth. While @ Walmart, I should have purchased their delicious rotisserie whole chicken for $ 4.98, which would have been at least 2 additional meals. Next time craving this favorite protein, that will be my choice. Chance of a return visit? Not likely.

I’ve always enjoyed Pollo Campero from the first time I tasted their chicken. It’s unbelievably juicy, even the white meat. The extras are great and the sauces are awesome. The Fried Chicken is awesome, Crispy on the outside, Juicy on the inside. The Grilled Chicken tastes just like if you made it on your grill at home. The Empanadas de Pollo, the Camperitos… finger licking good. I loved the Yucas Fritas but for some reason they always give me heartburn. A great combination is buying the Combination Fried Rice from Phở Empire on Beltline and some Fried Chicken from Pollo Campero… Mmmmmmm!
