When sculpting maquettes, or any sort of pre viz(or for fun)-art, Chavant clay is my clay of choice. I used to use ROMA clay, but that damn sulphur smell can get to a person. I use the Chavant NSP. It’s easy to work with, and does not smell like matches. It’s a pinkish color, ROMA was green, but Chavant also has green. There’s no difference between the colors, some have it, some don’t. It’s the grade of the clay itself, which is labeled, that matters. When I started out in sculpture, ROMA was what I used, when I hooked up with my mentor, and other classes/gigs, Chavant became the new norm. These blocks of clay come in 2lb blocks, I have a nice stash of them in my work closet. If and when a project arises, I will heed the call. «FLAAAAAASHHH!!! Ah, ahhhhhhhhh! He saved everyone one of us!»
