Modell’s Sporting Good

This Modell’s is good if you’re a man/​shopping for a man. If you’re a woman looking for clothes, good luck! First, this place is laid out odd, keeping men’s clothing to the center and left while putting the women’s department towards the back and left, near the sneakers. You might think there’s a decent selection but it’s extremely anemic. I was able to find one pair of Nike shorts in two separate trips. Needless to say, I likely won’t be back to this location for any of my needs and will shop at the larger and better laid out Modell’s in Plainview. It’s a shame, I don’t buy work out clothes often — a few times a year I refresh my clothes — but to have a really poor selection is rather disheartening when you’re local in the area. Whoever is doing the buying for this area — please add more to this Modell’s! I’ll shop if you provide!

I was pleasantly surprised with this Modell’s. The place is clean and organized and they had some great deals on apparel. Shopping on Christmas Eve, it was a bit of a mad house, but they were able to maintain their customer service and cleanliness of the place. They had fleeces and jackets for only $ 25-​$ 30. Tons of sports apparel for cheap. They had a rack of New York Mets T-​shirts for $ 3! Who cares if they had a 2015 year on them, you can wear these shirts any time. They had Mets t-​shirt with players names on the backs for only $ 5 and these were players that still play and haven’t been traded, that’s a rarity to find shirts like that for a price that low. There was a decent selection of women’s sporting apparel too. Didn’t make it past the clothing section as that’s what I came in to shop for. The line seemed long but moved really quickly. This location isn’t nearby, but I recommend people to stop in here if in the area.

I went here with my husband to buy a pair of sneakers with a gift card from my brother-​in-​law. It was hard to see where the sneakers were at first but my husband found them. The signage by the sneakers was very helpful, I wanted training sneakers for the gym and not running shoes because I don’t run. The employee by the sneakers was very helpful he asked right away if I needed anything but I found what I was looking for. After the sneakers we looked for a headband earmuff headwarmer, we found it easily. The girl at the register seemed like she didn’t want to be there which is why this review gets 4 stars instead of 5.
