The Hub

I have to admit that I haven’t been to the store at the Farmingdale location. This past weekend, I did a sprint triathlon out in smith point where The Hub was a sponsor and doing last minute repairs. 30 minutes prior to the race starting, my tube popped. I was using my father’s 1970s Panasonic bike and loaned the bike I usually use to a friend. Luckily, they were replacing tubes free of charge for the race! While pumping up the new part, the tube popped again. The mechanic pulled everything apart and noticed the rim had started to rust (after 40 years) and was causing friction against the tube. He quickly lined the rim with electrical tape and put on a new tube. I still had plenty of time to get my transition area set up and the bike held up for the ride portion. The Hub really saved me. I took a vacation day for this race and would have been bummed if I couldn’t participate. Truly a life saver!
