Went to have my hair colored and cut approx 2wks ago. Eventhough I was told my stylist is a ‘certified hair colorist’ I still made sure I have plenty of pointers and instructions of how my hair behaves with hair color. I brought pictures of what I wanted which was a light golden brown from my natural dark brown. I advised her that my hair has a lot of red undertones that become very pronounced when my hair is lightened and have to be neutralized and that it’s quite porous so it tends to grab color very fast and turn black so usually the previous stylists have to account for that with the processing time. Unfortunately despite all that, when she was done I had red hair close to the roots while my ends are nearly black. It’s been 2 weeks, no change in color. Very disappointed! And during her discussion with me after the fact, she said ‘well your hair is ashy’. I realized then and there she had not listened to me at all and proceeded to do whatever she wanted. I can not remember her name off hand. She’s blond with chin long hair. When she saw the disappointment in my face she offered for me to come back so she can fix it. My thought is however, if you couldn’t do it the first time why would you be able to do it the second time especially since I realized she hadn’t been listening to anything I said. While going to a ‘certified hair colorist’ sounded like a good idea, as you would think you would have significantly better result, in my experience that is absolutely not true and you should stick with the while uncertified yet far more talented stylists out there but not in this salon. I’m dreading the damage my hair will have to go through for me to undo what she has done, I believe the only way to remove the black color in nearly the bottom half of my hair is to bleach it. I am a physician and tend to go to salons very seldom because of time constraints. I don’t possess the time to keep going back to salons to fix what has been done.

I needed a new salon and per a friends recommendation tried Mane Connections. From the get go it was a great experience. The stylists take time to talk to you and give you their recommendations. Jason did a fantastic job listening to what I wanted and what he thought would be best taking all considerations into mind(I have my hair in a ponytail in my line of work so he cut my bangs longer). Everyone is very nice and accommodating. Definitely check out this salon – great haircut and a very reasonable price !

I used to live near The Mane Connection and I’ve seen a lot of the stylists there, they’re all fantastic and really know their stuff. I live an hour away now and have tried every salon possible in the area, but I always go back to The Mane Connection(Jason) to get«fixed.» I’m done with trying to find another place, I’ll just have to make the drive. Jason always has good ideas and knows what to do with my hair. Oh, and you won’t find the usual pretension or cattiness that is in EVERY other salon.

I’ve been coming here for over 6 years. I was referred by a friend to Krystal who was her family friend. Krystal did amazing work for both my sister and I. Krystal sadly moved a little while after getting married and suggested us to Liza who is seriously wonderful! We love her! My sister has seriously thick and curly hair and Liza helped her keep it long, manageable and beautiful! They also do great coloring! I’ve had my hair washed by some other nice girls. All the ladies here are friendly and are super helpful! We try to be loyal customers even after moving to Texas and back during high school. Love it here!

The guy that colored and highlighted my hair totally messed it up. There were literally orange patches with blonde streaks and the base color was brown. I looked soooo white trash. I was told there was no one there that day who could fix it so I called into work that day in order to not look like a complete idiot and went in first thing that next morning to have the color corrected. It wasn’t what I wanted even after the correction but I didn’t look totally insane when I left so I dealt with it. Also, prices way too high, especially for the crappy service.

I’ve been going to the Mane Connection since 2005. I was working in Farmington Hills and they came highly recommended. Kellie has been my stylist since the beginning and she is absolutly great. Even on those rare occasions I have to see another stylist, there is nothing to worry about. Since then I’ve reloacted on the east side but still make the trip to Farmington for my haircut.

I’ve been going to The Mane Connection for almost 20 years, and I love it! I started coming to The Mane Connection with my mom when I was 5 years old or so, and she, my sister and I have been loyal customers since then. For the last 10 years(ish), Bethanie has done almost everything imaginable to my hair: lots of different colors, high-lights, low-lights, cuts of all lengths, and updos of every kind. It’s incredible; I can bring in a picture and ask her to do something specific, or just walk in and say«Eh, Bethanie, I want a change. Something different», and whatever she does is always fantastic. She does a great job with updos as well; I’m not usually a person who know exactly how I want my updo done, but once I describe my dress to her, she’s got great ideas in mind. She’s a certified master colorist too, and I can see why. Recently I moved to New York City, and I’m amazed by how Bethanie’s work looks as great as the work anyone here has done(even though here I’ve paid 3 times the price!) Liza has done my hair a few times as well and is great too!

Love, love, love this place! Everyone there is friendly but professional. My hair color looks amazing and my cut is easy to work with. The back massage is great too. Lots of little extras for the money. Well worth it!

My sister-in-law recommended Mane Connection to me as a place where I could find someone to do my hair on Sunday morning at 7:30 for my wedding. Now where on earth could you find someone to get up that early on a Sunday? Well, Liza at Mane Connection was up to the challenge. I went in on the Thursday before my wedding to meet with her and get a trim. She was so awesome! She was totally open and communicative about what I wanted my hair to look like, and boy did she deliver. I had gorgeous flowing curls that were soft and shiny, not sticky and shellacked. The shop is clean and the staff is really friendly. As a bonus, before your haircut you get a quick shoulder massage with this nifty electric massager. If you go, definitely ask for Liza as she is super!

Six years ago I was new in town and looking for a fantasic hair stylist. A co-worker of mine recommended Mane Connection, Krystal specifically, and I’m so glad that they did. I’ve always found her to be willing to listen to my ideas and then input her professional opinions, which is just what I want out of a hair stylist.

Almosthusband and I were on our way to Joe Louis to have our engagement photos taken when we realized he looked like a muppet and was badly in need of a haircut. It was by mere chance that we happened to spot the Mane Connection tucked back in the corner of this dilapidated shopping plaza. The only reason I paused to look is because I used to eat quiche at the café on the corner on the way home from ob-gyn appointments. The shop is extremely clean. I did not immediately smell chemicals and burnt-hair when I walked in(always a plus) and there was a lady sweeping hair as soon as it hit the floor. They got us in right away and in no time at all Almosthusband had been cut and buffed and was presentable once more. The hairstylist, whose name I did not get, was a sweet little thing who took my bad jokes in good stride. I mentioned to the owner that I’d be writing a review and she asked me to mention that they were the home salon of the 2007 Miss America winner. I blankly said, oh how nice, I didn’t even know Miss Michigan had gotten that far. And then looked up to see that right in front of my face is a huge poster of Miss America hawking the salon’s Redken products. My keen observation skills are what make my Unilocal reviews so enjoyable.
