Alamo Rent A Car

The Fayetteville Airport rental car companies delivered easily my worst experience with rental cars to date. I travel for work occasionally and have rented through virtually every company. On this particular occasion, I had booked a car from Dollar several weeks in advance (yes, I know this is for Alamo but I’ll get to that). When I arrived at the airport at 11:30 PM I was informed by the Dollar clerk that they were completely out of cars. I contacted my travel office and they informed me what was available at the other companies – from their system. Surprisingly, nothing matched. All my travel office showed were cars ranging from compact to full-​size. But when I checked Avis, Hertz, and Alamo they each stated they only had trucks, minivans, and SUVs.
I told my travel office to book what they could and I’d fix it at the counter. When I got to the counter Alamo counter they refused to honor the rate that was booked for me. Additionally, they only had 3 cars and charged me nearly double what was booked for the premium SUV in spite of me being a part of their rewards program. At this point I had about 5 minutes to make a decision so I had to take it. On my way out to the lot I noticed numerous compact and mid-​size cars in the rental spots. I asked fellow travelers about their experience and theirs all had similarities. Some didn’t even bother getting a car and just used a taxi. Others had their original rate honored in spite of having to get a truck. When I returned the car I mentioned this and that I wasn’t satisfied. In spite of the clerk asking how my experience was she was fairly rude and only made excuses as opposed to trying to alleviate any of the frustration. She consulted her manager who wouldn’t leave the back room and matters only became more tense.
This is a small airport and as such you’re going to have to deal with poor inventory and weak talent pools for employees. I’m not typically a paranoid person but I have a suspicion that these companies pull this same crap on a nightly basis and there actually are cars available to rent. It is a business after all trying to make as much profit as possible. Not only will I never rent at this airport again, I’ll never fly there as well. Save the headache and your wallet and fly to RDU.

Great friendly fast service. I’m from Chicago and usually renting a car is a lot of paper work and hard work. This location was as simple as sign and drive. It was easy for me to pickup after my long flight and drop off when I was running late for my flight back definitely will be using this location again

1^st time I’ve rented from Alamo (Fayetteville Municipal Airport) and it was a pleasure. The customer service agent is friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and genuinely desires the best. The car was clean, no damages, oil and water levels good, no engine problems at all. The return was easy and quick. I like Alamo!!!

The counter receptionist was very unprofessional over the phone and in person. II would of understood her unprofessionalism if she was swamped or overwhelmed, but she had no customers an3d was on her phone. I asked for a list of cars she had and if she had any suv for rent and she told me to go outside and look whats out on the lot. This place is an actual –5star.
