Olive On Brooklea

For a few years I had been buying my olive oils and balsamics at Crystal City Olive Oil in Corning, NY. It’s two hours away from me, and if I didn’t get the chance to go there and I ran out of my oil or vinegar I would be jonesing! But when Olive on Brooklea opened up I was saved! I know I eat healthier when I have high-​quality ingredients, and the oils and vinegars from here certainly fit the bill. For me, drizzling my salads with their tasty oil and vinegar is the only way to go now. My favorite oils tend to be the very robust selections that you can’t get in the grocery store. The choices here for both the oils and vinegars are just amazing — as well as the accoutrements such as flavored salts and other gourmet items. I go here when I need to replenish my personal supplies of oil and vinegar (the Vermont Maple balsamic is to die for), and also when I want to find unique culinary gifts such as chipotle honey or lavender sea salt. Any staff I’ve encounters here is solicitous and knowledgeable, but not pushy. And I’ve been MORE than happy with every purchase. I’m happy to hear they recently opened up another shop in downtown Syracuse! Do yourself a favor and stop in there to try the oils and vinegars — I promise you will be surprised and delighted!

Shopping there is a wonderful experience – go for the full tasting experience and try them all. The oils and vinegars are fantastic. Who knew the full range of flavors that could come from olive oils: peppery, grassy, mellow, pungent. Not to mention the flavored oils: chipotle, mushroom, garlic, butter. There are nut oils and seed oils as well. It’s a great place to stop with friends after lunch, friends from out of town and a great place to get gifts that will be used and appreciated.

Finally, quality olive oils and balsamics arrive in Upstate NY! Enjoyed a half hour browsing and tasting the oils and balsamics. All of the oils were harvested within the most recent 12 months. Michelle, the owner, is fabulous and knows her business.
I purchased a maple balsamic, a traditional balsamic (absolutely heaven over vanilla ice cream) and the Koronciki extra virgin olive oil.
