This place is rather small and I’m unsure who the person taking my order was but he was rude and I felt rushed. The place is hard to find, the food or lack thereof look unappetizing. The place was pretty quiet and the place just looked gross. I won’t look forward to returning to this dump. Don’t waste your time do yourself a favor. I should’ve know from the buffet alone.

The food is seasoned just right! I like spicy food so we only added hot sauce. Its the right temperature for you to enjoy. Papa Lou is originally from my old stomping grounds and very friendly nice man. Anything not franchised has to be better then Big daddys and This is it. If you want to feel like you are at mom and dad’s then this is the place! He remembers his regulars and it feels good! He also gives a gift around the holidays!

I’ve been to this establishment a few times. The staff is friendly. The food wasn’t very good. It tasted like food out of a box. The chicken was cooked in fish grease and the greens weren’t very good either. I doubt I’ll be back.

Had a great meal. I went for lunch and got the buffet. All the food was hot and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. It was wet and rainy outside so all the southern comfort food hit the spot. The staff is extremely nice. Very polite and great service. The décor is a little outdated but who cares. It is a small southern café. I will be back. Make sure you get the collard greens. Oh the price is super cheap.

My wife and I have been going to Papa Lou’s for their Sunday buffet for the past three years. Its has been consistently good every time. The food is delicious. There isn’t a better value anywhere. We both get the all you can eat buffet with a drink for a total of about $ 21. It even comes with delicious fried green tomatoes and a dessert. I think I’m addicted to the key lime cake! All in all I decided to give this restaurant 5 stars because I appreciate consistency. To have been going there for years and to never have had a bad experience with food or service speaks volumes.

I love that this restaurant has a mom and pop feel with friendly staff. They have all the southern favorites. However, the only thing I enjoyed was the fried chicken. Everything else was bland or overcooked. I love supporting small businesses but I would rather got to Rosa’s Homecoming down the street in Fayetteville or George Wesley’s Southern Kitchen(even better) in Forest Park. I am a Southern Girl and come from a family of great cooks. When I don’t feel like cooking myself, I frequent the suggested two places as I am a true southern foodie.

This was by far the worse soul food restaurant I ever ate at. The food was not hot, greens were bland and bitter, the chicken was seasoned well but was not cooked all the way(the owner claimed it was the bone but everybody should know the difference between completely cooked and chicken not cooked all the way), the macaroni was mushy(way overcooked) oily, and bland. I always wanted to try this place because of the 3 good reviews and it was a complete disappointment. I will never return. I felt I donated my money to a bad cause.

I decided to try this place out because it had 5 stars but only 3 reviews. The restaurant has a menu and a buffet. I decided to try the buffet but it was served cafeteria style, where an employee puts your choices on your plate. I guess this keeps waste down. They had a good selection of meats and vegetables and everything tasted okay. It could have been a little hotter but I was there during a slow time. Nothing was unpalatable cold so it was okay. They did make to order fried green tomatoes to go with the meal. They were very good. If I lived in the area I would frequent here once in a while but I would not make it a regular place to go. The restaurant had dated furnishings but everything was clean. The staff was friendly if everything had been hot they may have gotten a 4.

Great place for soul food. Always a good selection, and great prices. Papa Lou even prepares fresh fried green tomatoes for everyone while they enjoy the all you can eat buffet. It’s a great place for lunch.

This place is a little ma and pa restaurant that delivered great food. After hearing from word of mouth and the couple of reviews that were on Unilocal already, I had to try it. The mac n cheese, collard greens, fried green tomatoes(complimentary), and BBQ riblets were all delicious! Don’t be fooled by the exterior… this place offers great soul food and great customer service to go with it; very friendly.
