There is a sign above the front desk imploring you to review this motel on every travel site imaginable. I’m shocked that they would do this, given the incredibly low quality of their establishment. I’m on a cross-country motorcycle trip and I usually camp unless it’s raining. I stopped here to escape what had become of Hurricane Irene. My expectations for these roadside motels is pretty low, I want a clean room, working wifi, clean towels and clean linens. The motel is incredibly old, and that alone is not a bad thing, but it’s just never been properly taken care of. The entire room was a patchwork of sloppy painting, spackling and repairs that looked like they were done by an inept handyman. The tiles in the bathroom were loose, and were patched so many times, with so many different types of tile, it was difficult to discern which tiles were the original. I’ve been in some rundown places, but this was RUN — DOWN! The wifi barely worked, and sometimes completely stopped working at all. The towels were stained, and one appeared to have someone’s initials on them, written with a black sharpie. The bed spread was so old that it should have been retired 15 years ago.(They were the kind they started making in the early 80’s, with the exposed batting on the back). The airconditioner roared like a B-52 bomber. The«Non-Smoking» room reeked of smoke.(to the point I had to open the windows and door to air the place out. They say this motel is a great value(«they» being the two employees that left a review on a travel site), and it might be the cheapest motel in the area, but really, *anything* is going to be better than this, and it wasn’t all that cheap at $ 56 a night including taxes. I love saving money, but I hate feeling like I’m getting ripped off, next time I’ll «upgrade» and pay a little more for a quality motel or even a B&B.
