We only came here to get one thing and one thing only. A banana split. Their food looks like utter crap so we didn’t bother to order. It looks like frozen burgers and fries that they heat up and serve. Might as well visit your good old frozen food aisle at the supermarket because you can find just the same. I have to admit it was pretty good. Nothing fancy at all, we would have liked it even more if the teenager boy didn’t cough all over our banana while cutting it up. Ew. We also asked for a cup of ice, which is not free. They actually charge you 40 cents for a cup of ice. Robbery! Location — at the bottom of the hill of County Line Rd meeting Bustleton Parking — big lot

It’s amazing that until a couple of years ago I had never heard of or seen a Sonic Drive In, nope I’ve still never seen one of their famous commercials and yet I now find out they are America’s number one fast food Drive In and they have been around for well over fifty years. I’ve passed the one that opened in the next town over quite a few times, but I never found the desire to stop in and check them out. This one is only the second Sonic I have ever seen and I was starving, so I decided to drive in and check them out, yep, this was my first Sonic experience. They open at 6:00am every morning and we elected to use the drive thru and to take it home instead of eating in our car or at one of the outside tables since it was 7:00am and still a bit damp and chilly. All around the building are slots for cars, each with their own menu sign and ordering system. I’ve only ever seen carhops in the movies, so it was cool to watch these servers skate their way to cars with a full tray, kudos to them because I would have fallen on my butt and be wearing the customers orders! There is no inside dining, which is another thing that makes Sonic so different from the rest. A third thing that I thought was unique to Sonic is you can have any item on the menu all day or night, so if you want breakfast for dinner or a burger for breakfast, go for it. They also have combo meals to save you money offering your sandwich with a side and drink at discounted prices and they have a happy hour, between the hours of 2 to 4 with ½ priced soft drinks or slushies. I ordered the Super Sonic burrito which was barely filled with scrambled eggs, bits of sausage patties that looked like they had been torn into little pieces, jalapenos, raw onion, bits of tomato, tator tots and melted cheese, for the price I guess I can not complain, the ingredients were real scrambled eggs, cheese, fresh veggies and the sausage was good, just not enough of it. They put no salsa, sour cream, nor guacamole in the bag, which was a bummer until I realized I had all of this in my fridge, but still… Along with my super burrito I had the tator tots topped with a cheddar cheese sauce and opted for crispy bacon to replace the chili, they were good, how can one mess this up and the bacon was crispy as requested. The order of cheddar peppers is their version of jalapeño poppers, except they are a long ½ jalapeño filled with cheese, breaded and fried perfectly and one of the reasons I will return. The other reason why I will go back is their drinks are outrageous when it comes to selections and varieties of each. Seeing it was early I decided on a Java mocha chiller, which was thick like a milkshake, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate, outstanding! For hubby I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and fries, they claimed it was shaved sirloin and the meat was good although it was a skimpy portion and did not fill the bun by any stretch of the imagination, but the meat was laced with grilled onions and the provolone oozed its way done through the meat. Again, not the best cheesesteak but it was tasty, the fries were exactly like McDonald’s. When I had ordered I was the only one in line for the drive thru window and it took at least ten minutes(probably closer to fifteen) for me to get my order and by then there was a line of cars and trucks behind me and I started feeling guilty, because maybe all they wanted was a coffee and on their way to work. I asked if I should pull aside and I was told I was fine, when I finally did receive my order I was asked if I wanted ketchup and I said no, he then asked if I wanted any sauces and by that point I just was not thinking about what food I had ordered and I replied no, just so I could get out of line. Put the damn salsa, sour cream and what have you in the bag so that when we get to where we are going we are not disappointed. Know what was in the bag? Ranch dressing, now what in the heck was that all about? They are famous for their long«Coney Island» hot dogs, which is basically not a Coney Island at all but a chili cheese dog and their burgers and I am too picky to ever try either of these, so I will never know what I am missing, but I will return for the cheddar peppers, an ice cold drink and the egg, cheese and meat croissant sounded good.
