They have the best ggan-poongi(spicy fried chicken) in town. Their black noodles and jjamppong is good too.

Really good black bean noodles and spicy fried chicken. Can’t really say much for anything else since that’s all I usually order from here.

I ordered seafood jajingmyun gampunki and beef fried rice. Wow I’ve never had more greasy food in my life on top of that they charged $ 50 for these 3 things. The daikon also had a weird taste. Wow and not in a good way

Oh. My. Goodness. This food is amazing. I’m so glad we found this place all tucked away in the corner. We got the black bean noodles that everyone raves about and boy am I glad we did. I went with regular and my husband got the seafood. I can’t speak for his because I don’t like seafood, but based on his reaction I’m going to say it was amazing. Once my kids had a taste they all came back for seconds. The chicken wings… oh wow. Perfectly crisp on the outside, with a delicious spice, and remarkably tender and moist inside. I’m not gonna lie, the mongolian beef was good, but it’s just a filler compared to everything else. To say we found a new favorite would be an understatement. Full and happy tummies all around.

This was not good! It smelled like cigarette smoke. The eggroll was cooked in old rancid oil. It was cold and drafty and everything we ordered was just not good. Won’t return.

Seriously this place has the best jjajang myun(black bean noodles) in the Greater Seattle area. It’s why we are willing to drive the extra 30 – 40 minutes to get our fix!!! Their noodles in red sauce(chammpong) is also on point. We also love the sweet and sour beef! The price is also right, the service is great, and the place is clean! Worth the drive and the visit! It’s right on the Korea town strip, so nearby you can go to HMart and a delish shaved ice café!

To elaborate, this should really be a 4.5 rating. I decided to start my own personal«immersion» into Korean/Chinese last night. So bear with me, I’m sort of a «gringa». My mom was born in Ireland, but she was a darn good cook with a broad variety of dishes — Chinese, Italian, Scottish, etc.(and of course the traditional Irish mashed potatoes with boiled milk and green onions…). I’m a fan of just about anything… but the last 10 months or so I’ve started eating Vegan… not an easy endeavour at first, because the first 3 months was a solid craving for Popeye’s friend chicken. I went off the wagon to Popeye’s once, so I’m doing pretty good. However, I do occasionally indulge in fish and chips and fish tacos from Del Taco… I don’t feel all that great afterwards, but I believe that if you are craving something, it’s better to go there than to fantasize about it endlessly. I can count my «off the wagons» on the fingers of one hand. My vegetarian experience lasted 7 years without going off the wagon, and one traumatic life experience sent me to McDonald’s to super size it with an expensive bottle of French red. After that, veggie no more. But I read the reviews on the jajungmyun(black bean noodle dish) and just had to try it. I did take out and also got the mapo tofu and the spicy chicken wings(gampoogka) sp??? I know, slap the wrist… So, I was really amazed at the amount of traffic at the many strip malls with Korean restaurants, etc… it took me three tries at three different strip malls to find Dae Young Palace. My food was waiting for me — I was about 15 minutes late due to traffic and getting gas, so here’s my report. Generous portions — I got two orders of the jajungmyun so that I could have a few meals at home. The mapo tofu was VERY generous, very hot(temp) and very spicy GREAT! The peas managed to be crunchy, the sauce rich, red, and the tofu not soft — and floating with red peppers. I’d give that dish a 5 plus. Really pleasantly surprised. It was my favorite. The jajungmyun was good — delicious, but it could have been a little spicier for me. I realize that the restaurant has spicy flavorings, and I will add my own at home the next meal. But delicious — smooth, flavorful. I give it a 4. The noodles were a little stuck together because they were separate, but that is my fault too — because they were sitting there waiting for me while I was cruising Pacific Hwy. Once I put the black bean sauce on, they separated immediately. The chicken wings were amazingly flavored. A tiny bit overdone, but again, sitting waiting for me. Spicy and sweet. My dogs, who get the chicken bits without the sauce, were overjoyed that I was eating something that wasn’t vegan or made of soy. I give the wings a 4.5. I couldn’t eat too much, though, as the 9 month lapse since my last Popeye’s spree caused my stomach to rebel a little — «go slow», it was saying. Also I enjoyed the little raw onion and radish appetizer with hoisin dip. It set the whole meal off. I polished it off with a couple of glasses(big glasses) of sake and it was heaven for my tastebuds. I will definitely go back soon. I can see why people want to go right back after eating there… I woke up thinking of the wonderful flavors.

The food here is good, don’t get me wrong but sometimes the service is mediocre but I focused rather on the food then the«kind waitress». The food here taste authentic and is recommended for some good Asian cuisine!

Ok so I know I said I wouldn’t go back but I went again with different groups of people. This time it was much better but only thing I really enjoy is sweet n sour beef and fried spicy chicken wings. If you crave jajangmyun I don’t recommend from here.

Had their black bean noodles, spicy seafood noodles, and spicy chicken wings. Black bean noodles was ok this time around. The first time I had it here was actually pretty good, but now it’s just ok. As for the spicy seafood noodles, big portion with lots of noodles but taste was kinda off. It was missing something to it, like a kick. But the spicy chicken wings… it was the best! It was crispy, juicy, and well seasoned! Will be back for their wings next time!

Disgusting black bean noodles(jajangmyun). Mostly sauce, barely any meat or seafood– tastes like it’s been reheated over and over again. Oiliest black bean sauce ever. Quality of noodles was also disappointing… sticking to each other, poor texture, taste. Doesn’t feel fresh. Tang-soo-yook sauce tasted too sour, poor balance. Dark and gloomy atmosphere, don’t want to imagine the kitchen’s sanitation level. I’m never going back. Surprised to find a few people eating there. Wasted money, couldn’t finish dishes… I’m wondering how they stay in business. I’m blown away by the positive reviews.

I didn’t have the chance to go into the restaurant, as my birthday party was occuring. We only picked it up, but the food transported wonderfully. As nearly everyone else has said, the jjajangmyeon was PERFECT. I had never tried it before, but what a wonderful flavor combination. The savory salt and the sweetness of the black bean went so well with the slightly sweet rice noodles. From what the three of my friends that had it said, the fried rice was amazing as well. Since it was such large portions, fried rice made for at LEAST three servings, where the jjajangmyeon made for two full meals. Still dreaming of the black bean sauce… Having raw onion with a dark dipping sauce and the radish as banchan was peculiar, but delicious! I would heavily suggest this place.

Just your typical hole in the wall restaurant. Ordered the jjajangmyeon and sweet and sour pork and both took quite some time to get to our table. The waitress seemed nice but spoke very little English and did not provide any water at all. We had to ask her for water and utensils. The Jjajangmyeon was decent but I definitely had better, the sweet and sour pork was fair. Probably won’t be back again.

After going on a grueling 0.8 mile hike and eating a bevy of oysters at Hama Hama bay, our group was famished. So naturally, we found the closest place that we could get our grease, carb, MSG fix and found Dae Young Palace. We ordered black bean noodles, seafood noodles, mongolian beef, fried pork, some rando chicken dish for our white friend, some rice, and… a diet coke. Jk. But we literally ate in silence and wiped the contents of the table clean. I think that’s enough to tell you how on point their food was.

This Korean Chinese restaurant is well known for the fusion favorite called«jajangmyun», which means black bean noodles. My husband loves this place but also the fact that he hasn’t found anything better than this elsewhere. Note* this is a mostly noodle and veggie dish, do not expect your too much animal protein. Luckily for me, I’m good with that. The«champong» is common here too, which is a spicy seafood noodle soup. If you like seafood and soup, this should work for you :) I also like their sweet and spicy chicken wings, crunchy coating, recommended with rice to eat up the sauce!

I wish that the entire menu was in English I felt like it was only catering to the Korean/Chinese community no biggie but I would of like to try more things and bought more. Other then the typical americanize menu for lunch and dinner

This place serves some definite comfort food. Many Koreans have tried the infamous jajangmyun and jampong at least once in their lifetime. It seems difficult to find places that sell some for the right price with the right amount of comfort, but this place puts a lot of love into their food. However, when my brother and I come to this place, we don’t think of the luscious black noodles smothered in sauce or the spicy warm soup that surrounds noodles and seafood. Are brains bring up an image of ganpoongki. Others may know it as the fried pieces of chicken in a delicious, delicate hot sauce. By far, this place is home for me whenever I am craving some delicious ganpoongki. The place is pretty run down, but don’t let that fool you. The owner here is a woman who works by herself so service can be slow. However, she is patient and kind and if you ever call for her while she is in the back, she will come out right away. Whenever my family comes here we always order the same three things: jajangmyun, jampong and gampoongki. Occasionally we will order tangsuyuk which is a Korean version of sweet and sour pork. Jajangmyun — The bowl looks smaller than most places, but there is plenty. The sauce is thick and it has pieces of vegetables and meat through it. The noodles are thick and perfectly cooked. It’s honestly your perfect bowl of comfort. Add some of the spicy powder to it and it’s amazing. Jampong — If you like noodles in broth and spicy things, this is for you. The noodles are similar to that of jajangmyun but it is surrounded by a spicy broth. The soup is also filled with all kinds of seafood, so if you aren’t a huge sea lover, steer away from this soup. You can ask for the soup to be spicier if you want, but it’s always the perfect spice level for me whenever I get it. Gampoongki — This is by far the best place to get it. The exterior is perfectly crisp and the sauce it comes with is heavenly. When you order this you get a bowl of rice which you can eat with the chicken or use the sauce and mix it with the rice. Both are great. I love how tender the meat is on the inside and how simple yet complex the flavors are. Tangsuyuk — I love pineapples so the sauce that is smothered all over the pork is divine. It has a sweet yet sour taste to it with the subtle hint of pineapple. The pork is also crisp yet tender soft on the inside. Whenever I’m craving tangsuyuk this is also the place I go to get it. Prices are definitely reasonable. The two noodle dishes can range from 5 – 8 $ while the latter can cost around 10 – 12 $. However, 45 $ was enough to fill 3 big men and a hungry girl. Overall, wonderful experience eating here and will definitely come back when I want some comfort food.

This is my favorite place to get jjajang myun(black bean sauce with noodles) so whenever I am in the mood for some jjajang myun, I come here and am never disappointed! I love it! The place is old and hasn’t changed at all since I was 8 but I don’t come here for their décor or the ambiance. I honestly do not like any other places in Seattle because their jjajang myun just tastes off! I know they are no where near as good as Korea’s but this is the best in Seattle. They also have really good kkan ppoong gee, spicy chicken so I pretty much always get those two things. Their tang soo yook, deep fried beef with sweet tangy sauce, is not that good though. I wouldn’t recommend getting that here. Another really good dish is their mapo tofu. My brother gets that a lot as well. If you are in the area and looking for some good jjajang myun, try this place out!

hmmm, maybe just me but I didn’t really like this place. The décor was very dated and the place is in dire need of a renovation. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the seafood gan jja jang. Any true purveyor of jja jang myun knows that contrary to popular belief, it’s the noodles that make the dish(not the sauce). It was decent overall but the noodles weren’t very good. I don’t know if they hand cut the noodles or if they use a machine or if they just buy them frozen but they just didn’t have the right texture and taste to them. The sauce was ok but the calamari pieces in mine were a bit funky. I also ordered the beef tang soo yook(korean style sweet and sour beef). It was really bad. Again, true purveyors will tell you that it’s the crispiness and quality of the beef that make this dish(again, not the sauce). One«secret» is that most restaurants will fry the pieces ahead and time and then will re-fry them again and this second frying gives it an extra crisp. I’m actually ok with this but the problem is that if the pieces are left out too long and the quality of oil is subpar, then the pieces actually absorb the oil and you’re left eating pieces with lots of absorbed oil which is just plain gross. The dish here was disgusting because the pieces of beef still had oil remnants so each bite was like as if you were dipping the pieces in oil. yuck. Again, the sauce was decent. We also ordered a shrimp fried rice and this was pretty good. Of course many people will say«how can you mess up fried rice» but again, you can do that easily my friends… if you don’t use good rice. Many places use peas and vegetables out of a can and I believe this place did as well. The shrimp pieces were very small but plentiful(ok for fried rice). The carrots were chopped up a little too small though and I thought they should have cut them in small cubes rather than tiny chips. We ordered a fried mandu(pot sticker) appetizer. Similar to the tang soo yook, it was drenched in oil. It wasn’t as bad but still barely edible. Anyway, I don’t think I’ll be back. I suppose if I have a craving for jja jang myun then I might head back someday but I think there are other options in the area that are much better.

Oh my god, their hot wings and jjajang myun are amazing!!! I already feel like eating it again. I kind of had a hard time ordering because the menu was in Korean and the server lady didn’t really speak English. I was a little pissed off since the server lady looked so annoyed by me not being able to speak Korean. But other than that, our order came out real quick and tasted amazing, and she was actually really nice. I had lunch here earlier today and might go back tomorrow!
