Gents Fine Grooming For Men

I moved to Kent in July 2015 and had searched for a real barber shop for many many months (not one of those «hip hop shops») Gents is awesome! They even write down your preferences on a card and save it for when you come back. Madeline has cut my hair to perfection the last two times that I went in!

Great customer service! My first time going here and it lived up to the reputation. David was my barber and he couldn’t of been nicer or more knowledgable. I had my hair and my beard cut for an up coming wedding and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Will definitely be going back. The real beauty of this shop is, no matter which barber/​stylist you get, you are guaranteed a great cut! David has a system he has trained all his employees with and its awesome, definitely keeps customers coming back!

Was in the area visiting some family and happened to come across Gents, fine grooming for men. I’ve been putting off a haircut for a few days and I usually go to the same place, but I thought what the heck– I’ll give this place a try.
I walk in and was greeted by a young lady who was very nice but completely ignored by a gentleman who looked like he could be the owner– judging by his cheap coach print belt (seriously, who wears coach print belts… Especially if you’re a dude?) and feeling entitled enough to be on phone in front of a potential customer at the front desk. The young lady that greeted me began telling me about the type of grooming that is offered at Gents: scalp massage, customized cut, neck shave– woah I was impressed. She told me she would get someone to get me started, and showed me toward the chairs to have a seat. She came back and told me the bad news: they are by appointment only. This could have easily been communicated to me as I walked in the door. To add to the disappointment, there were 4 people standing around with absolutely no customers in the spa (I hate to even call it that, considering its in a strip mall in federal way next to a coin laundry mat). I showed subtle frustration and asked if I could make an appointment now since there wasn’t a soul in the place, the lady barber snapped her gum in her mouth and complained that she needed to take a lunch and stormed off.
I have never written a review in my life, good or bad. But cmon GENTS, wtf? I’ve been sitting outside of your spa, barber shop (), whatever it is, for the last 30 – 45 minutes while I write this review and no one has come in for a cut. I’m not sure if this place gives good scalp massages, cuts decent hair, or if their neck shave is close and smooth, but I can tell you that their customer service is dog crap.

I’m pretty picky about who cuts my hair as I’m in the process of losing it (thanks awesome genetics). I’m going to break down my experience and hopefully if you’re looking for a spot to get your haircut you’ll choose Gents Fine Grooming.
I read reviews here that recommended an appointment. I called and got one the next day which is great for me because I usually wait until I’m a shaggy mess to get my hair cut.
When I arrived the store was clean and really squared away. No clutter which is always nice. I got in the chair and Dave, my stylist… barber… whatever, started by asking me about how I usually wear my hair, what style I’m looking for, whether or not I use product daily. This was awesome. Guys, let’s be honest. We have no idea how we should be getting our hair cut let alone what it’s called. Then Dave got to work.
I normally go in for a high and tight. I like my hair low maintenance and after I got a VERY expensive haircut from a «Men’s salon» in Seattle I was left very disappointed. The lady seemed to not really understand how to cut a guy’s hair short. Dave made sure to not repeat this mistakes. Overall I’m very happy with the results and even scheduled my next appointment. The head massage and shampoo was also a nice touch.
My only criticism was also mentioned in another review. I don’t like staring mindlessly at a wall while waiting for that, «Surprise! Here’s your haircut!» at the end. I’d rather be able to watch and face the mirror during the haircut. I mean can you blame me I don’t have much hair left so I might as well look good while I got it. Other than that one minor thing the experience was great. Dave even recommended a styling product that works well with someone with thinning hair.
Getting my hair cut at Gents Fine Grooming was a treat. I felt like I got a good value for the money (It’s a little more expensive than I’m used to, but it’s worth it.) and you can really see the attention to detail the shop uses with it’s customers. Dave even was going to fill out a card with a diagram of how I had my done for future reference. I mean that’s thorough. Thanks for you great haircut and see you in a month.

I usually go up to Seattle to get my hair cut but figured I would try a local place for once. I picked Gents because it had great reviews and the guy on the cover looked like he got a decent cut. I saw Madeleine and she did an okay job. There were a few issues I noticed prevented me from giving more stars.
–They seat you facing away from the mirror so you can’t really tell what’s happening until after the haircut is over.
–She did a great job fading the back and sides, but the front was a different story. I didn’t realize until I got home but the right side is a lot shorter than the other half. As in, it sticks straight up no matter what product I put in.
–The style of the cut was. dated? I don’t know how else to put it. Looks like my hair did in the 2000s. I feel like the undercut/​combover style has been popular for a few years now so it should be easy for any barber to do. I showed her a picture of how I usually get it cut and it ended up much shorter than it should have been, in addition to the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ front side issue. Maybe she didn’t get a good look at the picture? I’m not sure.
The haircut was not the worst I’ve ever received, but not among the best, either. I will probably stick to the Seattle barbers that I know, even if they are more expensive. The haircut definitely cost less than what I normally pay but the value just was not there for me.
Asian hair can be problematic to cut if you aren’t used to it and I understand that so I gave an extra star.

I’ve been a client here for about four years now. i am a middle age man with longish, curly hair. It was difficult to find a salon that I was inclined to return to — I just couldn’t find a competent shop to style my hair. In Gent’s I’ve found a shop I’m comfortable with, where I can just sit down and they know what I want! David and his staff are both friendly and very professional. I’ve found a home for my hair so to speak!

Absolutely grateful for this place to exist! I cannot remember the last time I trusted a place to get my hair done. My favorite part is where they took my hair seriously as much as I did; if not more. Love the breakout from the cliché of haircut places; where they don’t just ask you for what «number you want on the side and top.» They observe your growth patterns and make a suggestion based on that. Never seen it done before! But I can tell you that it works!
Their customer service is phenomenal. They take their time with you and genuinely care for your being. Which is a also a plus. In addition, their products are AMAZING! Had to buy a couple for myself because they make your hair look 10x better… Search no more; Aveda is the answer.
My hair looked so good that I wanted to keep this place a secret to myself! However, the experience I receive was over the top of what was expected and it cannot go untold. The cost of a haircut is pretty pricey, but I can tell you… It’s worth it! And the search for where to get your haircut done, well is done.
Of course, this is just my first visit. «Consistency is key,» and I can already tell it will be consistent (because they drew a map of where to cut my hair at the end). I will update my review sometime in the future to let you guys know my whole experience (relationship) with gents. Other than that.
If you’re a men looking for a way to look more like a gent. Then I personally recommend Gents to you.

I will go to no other place to cut my hair but Gents. It’s classy and every single time I go there I get a consistent good looking haircut. The experience is incredible. Trust me. Every penny of this haircut is worth it.

Nathan gave me the best haircut I have had since I moved to Seattle. I have found my place for haircuts and will definitely return monthly for hair and beard trims. The friendly staff and appointments ensure a great experience with no waiting.

Best Haircut Ever — No joke. I’ve been getting my hair cut at Gents for several years now, and, in general, they provide the best quality, best value men’s haircuts I’ve ever gotten. And this time, as always, my visit was very enjoyable and the staff was that perfect mix of professional and friendly. But this week, I did something different. I let David, the Master Designer, exercise his creativity. I was months overdue for a hair cut, providing him with plenty of hair to work with and I told him «I’m tired of the standard business cut … do whatever you think is best, but make it fun and creative». WOW … I kid you not, this is THE most amazing hair cut I’ve ever had. I am thrilled with the change to my appearance this new cut gives and I would highly recommend that you let this very talented individual exercise his creativity and skill with your look. You won’t regret it. And in case you were wondering, I was also able to buy the men’s hair products I’ll need to keep this cut looking its best right in the store. Five stars plus, for sure. Way to keep an existing customer and make them EVEN happier!

There’s not many places where I enter and come out even better-​looking, but this is always one of them. David does an excellent job and if you want to change up your style his suggestions are always good ones. Best of all, your wife (and your girlfriend) will love the way you look.

I cannot say enough about my first experience at Gent’s. It was truly refreshing to walk into a place where you are welcomed, treated as a guest, received top notch service… a great haircut to go with it… and all at a fair price… As I finished up and was headed out the door, the owner David thanked me for my business! Gent’s is simple on the inside, with no frills, no attitude. It was simple and nice, very comfortable. There was easy conversation between other guests and the stylists, some kick ass hair product they worked with and a drive from the team to do the best they could. They’ve got it down! It’s clear that they are aware of what is important in a barber shop (although it’s more than this) and what’s not… I will be back and have already recommended some friends to try them out. Jen was my stylist and she was great! If you are after a salon/​barber shop that specializes in men’s hair… this should become your «go to» place. They know what they’re doing.

This place is great. The are very friendly. My husband is a general contractor and often times will miss his appointments due to work. They never get upset and always try to work him in if he misses an appointment. The salon is clean and a very nice environment for men. My husbands hair is also sort of a challenge to cut. What hair he has is very curly. He always comes out looking great. Now if I could just get him in there more often! Gents is a great place for the guy in your life.
