Pattison’s West Skating Center

This is a great deal for families – Sunday and Wednesday nights from 6:30 — 8:30pm, it’s $ 5 for skate rentals. I love how big the rink is, kids and adults of all skills levels can move about freely. My kid really perfected his abilities here – moving from needing the plastic trainers to being able to skate on his own.

The skate deck and music was nice and I was enjoying myself until I had an epic fail. I would have rated my experience higher but not one employee acknowledged I fell even though it was a painstaking journey from the skate deck to the bench and I had to be almost carried out to my car. At the ER the PA asked if anyone had asked how I was doing and when I said no, she said that’s what everyone they see with an injury from there says.

This place is really cool. I took my almost 5 yr old and she loved it!!! Went for family night. I’ve been in the PNW for 6 years and have never been. Price is reasonable for entrance and I like that as a spectator I don’t have to pay. The food is reasonable also, although I haven’t had any. Would definitely go back.

I love this place, my 11 year old loves this place. I’ve been trying to think of ways to make it better and I’m not coming up with anything.
Maybe a little more variety in the snack stand but that’s all. We love Pattinsons West!

I went here when I was a teenager in 80’s. Had so much fun then! We took our 4yr old this week, and he had so much fun. They had the trainers for him to hold on to while skating. They should get some for adults, as well. One adult in our party could have used it. The place was clean, great fun music, friendly service, and it smelled fresh (the one in Bellevue just smelled like no one ever cleaned the place). It brought back memories, and I plan on having a girls night out there for a throwback 80’s style! So glad the rink is still here!

Adult night was awesome! Nobody was rude about having beginners on the rink. In fact it was all cool, just still to the middle
The pace was packed. It is the place to skate for sure. Even just to watch the really good skaters is fun. The guy handing out skates was super cool with us checking in and out a million sets to get the right fit even!

So I’m giving this 5 stars for the outstanding service I had with mike. He was very accommodating. I had a lot of questions and like a lot of mothers, stressed about her baby girls birthday. I didn’t end up doing the party here because difficulties with the date and time but I have gone to a birthday party here with my daughter and everything was pleasant then. Book your parties months ahead ! I called over a month ahead and couldn’t even get a spot that I wanted which is understandable. Thanks again mike!

We went here with a teen day Camp during the day. Although it was somewhat fun, the quality of the roller skates we rented really ruined it. I had teens pay extra to get inline skates and the bearings were shot, making it impossible to go fast. The quads were super uncomfortable or ill-​fitting, making several people’s feet numb or were painful. Also, several people from camp who had the chicken strips got sick that evening.
I would say they need to invest in some new rental skates.
Alsio (This is not their fault), but we were there at the same time as a children’s camp, and about 7 or 8 kids had the skating walkers, which also made it difficult to have fun, if you gained too much speed you risked pummeling small children. I don’t know if it’s ever possible to do a teen time slot?

I have been going here since I was nine! Now that I have a daughter, she roller skates here. Everyone is so friendly. For the new skaters, they have little training walkers to help kids learn. They are amazing. I love that since I don’t really skate anymore they let me walk around the outside corners with her while she skates! This place is fun and I know we will make plenty of family memories for years to come.

Since I’m assuming most of the people viewing this will be adults I’ll just talk about the Sunday Adult Nights. I went here a lot as a kid and I’ve been to a few parties on random days and it’s fine as a typical skating rink but Sunday Nights are what I’ve recently discovered.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find this as a gem of an outing on a Sunday. The music selection is just perfect for skating. It’s music to groove to! While they play some stuff you hear in the club, they also play a lot of soulful stuff that makes you feel good. Everybody there is just having a good time, not looking for drama. You see plenty of synchronization and everyone got moves. It’s just something I honestly wouldn’t expect to find in Washington but I’m not complaining.
Only reason it doesn’t get that fifth star is because it could probably stay open a bit later, maybe they could add some liquor to the equation since it’s adult night. It just lacks something to put it over the top. Maybe if more people found out about it they could add a few things to make it more unique and even improve the food selection. Maybe I’m asking too much, I don’t know.
Overall it’s a great time though. I’ll always come here on a Sunday when I’m visiting the Tacoma/​Seattle area.

First time goers and had our daughters birthday party there. We had a blast! Great place to have a party and inexpensive. The facility is large and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even had skates for our 2 year old son who also got hooked into skating. We are making this the new family fun place! Thanks!

I was a bit disappointed today when we went to Pattisons. It came highly recommended by a cousin who is in roller derby. Upon arrival the rink was beautiful. We got our skates on and off we went. Quickly my 6 year old asked to have her skates tightened but they said they wouldn’t tighten any skates over size 13?! They suggested we get these walker things on wheels-​so we walked through the facility and found an unattended one-​checked w a few people to see if it was there and they said no! My daughter was off! Great option since they won’t tighten skates… about 2 – 3 times around the rink a man came up and took the walker and said you have to rent them-​would have been nice if someone mentioned that earlier! So we went to the pro shop and they didn’t have any?! So what are the options?! They weren’t very apologetic, the lady kept glancing at her friends like we were crazy because we were unhappy.
Needless to say-​I didn’t feel the customer service was half as nice as the facility. Def not the most child friendly skating rink I have attended.

Pleasantly surprised — little one has begged me all her to go to one of the all-​school skating party nights they hold quarterly. I finally gave in… Having been traumatized by roller skating at an early age I was very apprehensive of taking her. The facility was way cleaner than I expected it to be and the music was great! For $ 3 we rented the contraption that looks like a walker on wheelers for beginners — by the end of the night — little one was still wobbly but had a great time. She wants to take lessons (they have beginner lessons on Sat mornings) before next school year so she can keep up with her friends (who looked like rink rats flying around at lightening speed) next year!

Oh Pattison’s West, you smell exactly the same as you did 12 years ago… wait… I don’t know if that’s a good thing. This place has been around as long as I can remember, and it hasn’t really changed much. They’ve added a big screen TV along the long wall in the rink itself but I’m not sure who watches that while they’re skating. I only go during the afternoon skate on Saturday (as of 3÷22÷13 it’s 12 – 5) when everyone skates (kids and adults) but am really interested in trying out the adult skate sometime. Not that the employees don’t control the chaos — they do pretty darned well in my opinion (no tag, etc). If you’ve been here before you know not much has changed — there’s still the construction orange benches to sit on, the really ugly carpet and the dark wood paneling.

I’ve only been here twice and with a big group each time. I’ve made a point to call ahead to let the manager/​owners know and to ask for a group rate (with at least 15+). We also ordered pizza and also got a deal (min. of 5 to get special). The rink is big, and there are plenty of seats for non-​skaters.
The staff is young, so they can be immature and distracted at times. The managers are great though, but everyone is very accommodating. The only downside are the condition of some of the skates/​blades, and the choice of music (Saturday night).
Other than that, it’s a steal for a group social night and I will definitely bring my group back.

For a skating ring, this is surprisingly clean– so a Star for cleanliness!!! We recently came here for a birthday party and the kids had a blast. I really like how you can rent «walkers» for the skating novice aka my 6 year old son. Although it was a packed and busy Saturday afternoon we were able to quickly rent one so he could enjoy himself.
1 star for their great tasting food, and a lot of seating.
1 star for the big screen TVs they have everywhere for parents like me that prefer to sit and watch the kids while catching a game.
If we didn’t live more than an hour away we would totally come here for birthday parties! Either way I’ll be back to take my kids since they had such a good time.
Overall 4 star for the experience and the fun my kids had.

I have not been skating in years .
I really dont know why I went but it was fun .
I think it is good exercise and now my legs hurt .
the falling down part was not as bad as I thought it would be since I only fell like 5
times .
maybe I will go back fun place.

I took my daughter and couple of friends today and they had fun. 3 hrs + rental skates for about $ 23, not bad. I took her and one friend to Kent Centre for ice skating recently and it was more $ — about $ 28 and think only 2 hrs.
Anyway yes there is a spot for bday parties. Some video games (older games), gift shop selling little toys and candies like Chucky Cheese and a small café serving pizza, pretzels and drinks.
There are plenty of seats around the ring if you want to watch. It wasn’t too crowded on a Sat afternoon so they had plenty of space. Yes there are a lot of kids, many faster, some smaller and slower. Few adults also skating along. Everyone seem very pleasant and respectful skating around.
Clean, nothing was on the floor as some other reviewers found.
If you want some place to take the kids for a few hours, this is a fun place to go.

Flashback to my elementary/​middle school years, I won’t state the actual years, just so I don’t feel any worse than I did skating with my 9 year old daughter and her friends:)
This place was just how I remembered my old skating rink! Hardwood floors, the snack area, games, lockers and even the restroom stalls, haha! Oh and I will add the smell, which I won’t say is pleasant but it ALL just brought me back. My inner child came out even more so than at my own daughter’s skating party at Wheelz.
The music they played was pretty good, my daughters and friends looked at me weirdy as I got excited when they played «Pour some Sugar on Me,’… ok just gave away a little hint:) I had to skate hard to this song, LOL!!!
Even though this place brought back alot of awesome memories, I will say that I preferred the Wheelz location as it was much more open and spacious and just more modern, i.e. no smell:)
An added plus– I saw the pictures of Apolo Ono and pointed them out to the girls, they were sooo excited to know that he trained here! Olympic athlete and Dancing with stars, woop, woop!

My friends thought that I was joking when I said that I wanted to have my 24^th birthday party here. I wasn’t.
This place brings back childhood memories and can be fun for all ages. Watch out though because the ones who are under 12 years old and under 4 feet tall seem to take over the rink and the place. You can’t really blame them though because it is their territory.
You wouldn’t believe some of the middle school gossip I overheard in the bathroom. Some of the kids are so snobby, they sort of hurt my feelings. It didn’t smell tooooooo much like socks like I had expected.
Overall, this place is fun and its nice to have a night different from the typical and usual. If and when I do have kids, I wouldn’t mind bringing them here every now and then. I just wouldn’t let them befriend the girls in the bathroom… thats for damn sure.
