place needs more customers! Went here the other day and it was dead, was the only one there. Besides that they have good pricing for yaki tori and excellent happy hour prices. The food was surprisingly good, great for snacking while drinking. Next time I’m bringing a few friends to show them this place. Will be back again.

I’ve finally found some time to try this place after my sister told me about it last month, but sadly my first impression wasn’t that good. I wasn’t that hungry in the first place but I wanted to snack on some appetizers and I thought of where else to go but here. Me and my boyfriend walked into this place on Tuesday around 7:40pm, but there was no workers in sight, so we decided to seat our selves. Now the interior was pretty nice, however it took at least 10 mins before anyone even noticed us, that was the first red flag. After this young lady finally noticed us, she gave us the menu and even politely apologized. After we ordered, we waited… waited…and waited. Around the 20 min mark, some guy did come by and asked if we’ve ordered, we told him the other waitress took our order and then he left. That was the second red flag. 30 mins later, I asking my boyfriend if it really took this long to make our food, I mean we did kind of ordered a lot, but it wasn’t even busy… There was another table, but it looked like they were already finished with their meal. When it reached 40 mins, I decided to ask the same guy why our food was taking so long, he replied if I ordered. I was like wth? I told you the other waitress took our order like 20 mins ago. And then he informs me that she left, at this point I was a little agitated… If a customer is sitting there for 40 mins with no food in front of them, shouldn’t that alert you that something is wrong? He then decides to ask me what I ordered, I told him that it’s okay, we’re leaving. As I turned to retrieve my belongings, the guy offered to make our order to go, no charge. We didn’t want to wait another 20 mins so we politely declined. Tips: — Work on communication! at least have someone at the bar greet incoming customers so they feel welcomed. — Check on your customers! if they say they ordered, you should confirm with the kitchen staff if a order was placed or not. And if they have no food in front of them for a long time, there is obviously something wrong. I really hate writing bad reviews for a restaurant I really wanted to like but this was unacceptable. The reason I gave this place a two star is because the workers were nice, but they needed to work on some communication problems. Other than that, I would give this place another shot if the opportunity arises.

Hidden gem in federal way. I usually dont write reviews but i wanted to share this place with more people. Id say it is more of a bar than a restaurant but the food was awesome. Small tapa size portions but the taste is amazing. Get the sake flight. Great deal. The yakitori was very similar to the ones i have tasted in japan. I will def come here again, especially later at night for sake!

The food was VERYGOOD!!! I went into this place with my wife and son. There was one other table besides us. At the time, there was a sporting event on tv, but we were not seated very close to the tv and the angle we were at didn’t help. I asked if we could move to another table, closer to the tv and the waitress said«no, it’s a bar area and children are not allowed.» Mind you, there was a child(approx 3 – 4 yrs old) sitting at one of the tables playing with an electronic device. I understand the laws, but be consistent. The service was nothing to brag about. The waitress had one table besides ours and about half way through our meal, another family arrived. We asked for a side of rice for my son. The waitress had us wait for more than 10 mins and when she came out of the kitchen with it, she set it on the bar while she tallied up a check for the departing table. I walked over and got it myself. We all ordered food. No two items came out together. Everything was individually prepared and served. No two people ate food at the same time. That was frustrating since each person ordered a couple of items. On a brighter note, the good was VERYGOOD!!! If I were reviewing just the food, I would give this an easy 4.5−5 stars. It far exceeded my expectations. The service and extreme waiting times ruined the experience for us. After I ate, I wandered around the place. Come to find out, the kitchen is shared between Jay’s and Yakitori’s. That could be the cause for the delays and piece made meals.

Great food, great drinks, and great service. Can’t ask for more. Try the okonomiyaki, a rich and hearty dish you got to try.

This place is great. Good sake and great yakitori. Very clean and friendly staff. I enjoyed the happy hour yakitori special. Everything was delicious. Where I’m from there are many yakitori places and this is the only one in the area. I will be coming back here.

Went here yesterday with my mom and little brother(he’s 16). We came during the early happy hour(4−6pm). Our waitress was friendly and would ask if we want anything else throughout our dining. We first ordered the karaage, chicken katsu, kimchi pork onigiri, and the combination of yakitori. The only issue being you have to wait 40 minutes for our food… I can understand for yakitori but katsu and karaage isn’t that long. I have had karaage in other nearby restaurants and they get them out fairly quickly. In fact, the yakitori came out first. The food was good, but I don’t think it was worth waiting for that long. So if you are limited with time, I would reccommend not coming here. Hope they change that in the future though.

We had seen really good reviews online, so we decided we had to check it out. The place was very clean and very well fixed up and the waitress was very friendly. We were the only ones inside and we ordered a mix of items. It took about 40 minutes to get our food. We ordered one of the pancake things with salmon and chicken, shrimp and asparagus skewers the food was cold and nothing was too exciting. The salmon pancake was a little bit strange but was probably the best thing out of the experience.

Been here twice already since they opened and I can say«Run! Don’t walk to the place!» The owners of this establishment are foodies and it definitely shows in their cooking. The food is fantastic, full of flavor and well balanced. They also have a well stocked bar, carrying a tasty selection of Sake that I have never tried before. Ranging from dry to fruit flavored, which was really good. The ambience is great. The place is clean and has a very cozy feel to it. Great place to enjoy Japanese tapas style food with friends and family. If you’re going alone, I recommend the yakitori combination with the steak and pork belly skewers. It comes with a beef sukiyaki onigiri, potato salad garnished with cucumber and cherry tomatoes in a house dressing, and bacon cheese potato croquette. It also comes with a side cucumber dish. So gooooooood!!!

All their sauces are made fresh right there and they are so delicious. The seared scallops exploded with flavor in my mouth. I didn’t want it to end! The yakitori was the best I ever had and I spent a lot of time in Japan. I had the sake flight which was a sampler of 3 kinds of sake. All 3 were so flavorful. My favorite was the Yuzu, a rich tasting sake with a citrus taste. I’m going back again for a repeat tomorrow and the next day since all the food is ½ off until 12⁄31. The prices are very affordable. You don’t want to miss out on this. This is a family owned business and they have only been open for less than a month. I would rather support a family owned business any day over a chain restaurant. It was very easy and enjoyable talking to the other patron’s at the bar.

Grand opening and half off until 12⁄31. Everything we ordered were very delicious. My fave was the grilled miso salmon, deep fried calamari, steak skewers, and Japanese potato salad. Can’t wait to come back.
