The tasting room is set back behind the restaurant and is pretty basic. I think their beer may be secondary to the wines they offer, at least the number of taps for wine seem to outnumber their beer taps. It’s a single room with a bar, a few tables and the remainder of the room is taken up by the kettles. I had a couple of beers, the Fenton Light was a good light beer as advertised. The Summershine Wheat seemed more like a winter beer or a Christmas Beer with coriander and other spices. The day we went even though the big door was open it was pretty hot. I wouldn’t give up on it and may have to give it another try later. I am corrected. Read the comment below. Seems that there are many more beers than I had originally spied and they plan some improvements(air conditioning) in the near future. I will check it out again later this summer and give you an update. Thanks for filling me in on updates(and errors)

Visited the tap room recently and enjoyed an evening full of chess, craft beer, and ‘za. Doesn’t get much better than that. Actually it would have been better had I won a game of chess. This place is lofty and open — seating is in the same area as the brewing equipment which was a surprise. There’s a casual vibe and I love the addition of the game selection. We chose to play chess, but on our table there was also a box of Trivial Pursuit(Baby Boomer edition — which we sucked at). There were also several other games from which to choose: Battleship, Connect 4, the banana game, checkers… There were plenty of craft beers and wines for us to try and we sampled several tasty options. I also tried the Golden Ticket pizza which had several cheeses, prosciutto, and a fig reduction drizzled over top. It was delicious. I understand there’s also a Mug /Stem Club, which I hope to join one day.

Great wine, excellent service, nice atmosphere. Came here for a date night with my husband and it was a perfect way to spend a relaxing and quiet evening. The bartender was great too.

Good food, great beer, very decent wine. Service could surely be better. Atmosphere is almost too relaxed amongst the staff.

I am very happy to update my review of the Fenton Winery and Brewery! My first experience was so bad that it took more than 2 years to convince myself to give it another try. Honestly, there was no where to go but up so I was optimistic that I would find something I liked, but I left actually very impressed. What previously tasted like a home brewer’s first attempt has morphed into some decent beer and some pretty darn good wine. The beer ranged from flavorless but drinkable(Fenton Light) to pretty ok(Porter) and the wine ranged from really good(Viognier and Pino Noir) to undrinkable(Crimson Vine Shiraz) with options in between. Overall I think everyone can find something to enjoy. What will bring me back and what prompts me to want to bring out-of-town friends is the facility. With lots of seating, options for groups and parties, and multiple games to play, I can definitely see myself making this a destination. I didn’t try the food but the menu had lots of options. With more consistency among the flavor and style of the drinks this reviewer would update to a 4 star. It definitely won’t take two years for the next visit so I hope to be able to do so soon!

The pizza is good, however, the last few times i went, the beer tasted so steely and gross. It kind of ruined it for me. Oh and its always really hot in there :(

What an amazing experience. Arrived yesterday and was mild skeptical because there were few people in the place. About 30 minutes later it got packed which is always reassuring. Service was excellent, a female and male tender — both polite and offered great recommendations. We started with a sampler of beer, fantastic selection and quality. We ordered lasagna rolls, which were absolutely incredible. We planned on ordering a pizza because the people next to us at the bar ordered what appeared was a authentic homemade pizza — looked top notch. We bought another round of beers instead and waked outside to the nice garden that overlooks the property. Great value too, our bill was beyond reasonable for the quality of the beverages, ambiance, service, and food. Cannot wait to come back. There is no doubt in my mind — we will be back !

Good beer, could be better. I’m sure they’ll grow in quality. Love this little secret spot, I wish them tons of success but wish they could stay a secret spot ;) I love that it’s not always packed. Good black tie pizza and apps. Check it out!

Stinker. Swing and a miss. Stopped by yesterday. Service, our tapper was a d!€k. Dude just flirted with the server. Not knowledgable, unattentive, and when asked what meats were available he replied i dont know the chef changes them all the time. Me, so he doesnt give you a daily list. Him, no. Me, so you cant ask. Him, well he changes it all the time. Let me conclude with, we were 2 of 4 people in the place. We asked about sitting outside and were told no we couldnt take our flights out… thought this was the SERVICE industry. Beer, tried 10. Uff. 3 were ok. The belgian doppel was pretty good. And the same for the bipa. The dark beers had a wonderful finish of ash tray, scortch, and the ipas, metal. I would suggest they allow their dark malted beers to mature. Young beers are, as i said, ufff. Wine, wow. The reds tasted like chewing tobacco. Waaay overly oaked however the malbec and reisling were good. Décor. Weird. You walk in, gift shop, right, bar. You walk in and… warehouse. No separation, HOT, but there were fans on the bartenders, grains and entire brewery right in the bar. Felt like we werent suppose to be there…

These folks have a solid selection of brews that pair well with some of the areas best pizza. Don’t pass them up. FYI, don’t use the map on Unilocal.Insert address into google maps instead, otherwise you’ll never find it.

Wonderful taproom with great service. Very informative staff. Cannot wait for the beer gardens to open. Will be back. Excellent idea for the Trivia Pursuit cards at spots throughout the venue. Seating was excellent and welcoming. Separate building where larger parties, weddings, and reunions can be held we were told about. Had a great afternoon. Looking forward to our return visit.

Had to check out FWB’S product because a friend told me I had to. I am pleasantly surprised with some of the forward thinking and blending that goes into some of their offerings. Swinging berries is worth the experience and a great blend. Staggering bull and the other i had but can’t remember the name of(doh!) rated as solid beers to me. Pizza, Pft who doesn’t like pizza? I love pizza, good pizza that is. FWB has great pizza! Don’t skip the pizza! Overall I think they are doing good things and can’t wait to try more beer & wine from them! Will be back ;-)

Not quite what I was hoping for. To me, it didn’t appear to be much in the way of a traditional winery or brewery. I came here for a work-related event and thought it was a tad inauthentic, especially since I happen to love good wineries and breweries, so I used those past experiences as a sort of barometer on which to base my opinion of FWB. Perhaps, I shouldn’t have judged it that way, but I did. At any rate, I didn’t care for the crowd of primarily lumberjack-types who were loud and only drinking the least expensive(albeit, none of the beers are super cheap) draft beer they could get their hands on. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the wine selection and the bartender actually knew very little about wine(which I found odd), told me he wasn’t much of a wine drinker and then proceeded to tell me that he prefers«$ 4 chuck» when picking wines! That was puzzling, but he did say it, although I have no idea why. Some winery, I thought. In retrospect, I think his odd behavior might have affected my opinion at least a little bit. To summarize, I felt it was a tad overpriced for the types of wine I sampled. It was good, not great. I don’t know, there just appeared to be a surprising lack of diversity in both wine and beer selections for an upscale winery/brewery(in my opinion), coupled with a strange wait staff, plus they did little to encourage anyone to utilize the tap room, which actually seemed pretty interesting. An odd experience, indeed. I haven’t had a chance to try much of FWB’s food yet, but I look forward to sampling a little more of it when I get a chance. I’ve heard they really upped the ante when it comes to their culinary game, so I would like to try one of the new pizzas eventually. Despite the fairly negative experience, I do plan to give them another shot. It didn’t deter me from possibly giving them another chance. Maybe the bad vibe was just a fluke. Hell, I even signed up for their email updates…

Relatively new facility, albeit a little rough still. Tons of potential in the new space but an odd tasting room set up– I’m in a comfy chair but have a clear and strange view of the brewing area and some storage totes and utility sinks. All of the drinks were acceptable and tasty but the service was questionable. Two guys handling all the bar and tables, both friendly enough but clearly over extended for a busy Saturday. Also, no paper towels in the bathroom. All the remnants of a decently funded home brewer. Hoping they take advantage of the growth opportunities.

I finally had a chance to check out FWB in their new space while I was visiting Michigan for the holidays. As my sister so eloquently stated when we walked in, «Oh. This isn’t as homey as their old location.» It’s true as the new location is wide open and has a more industrial feel. However, I thought it was cool that you could see the large brewing tanks on one side of the large open space. Anyway, I shared a flight of beer with my husband. We ordered the flight specifically so we could try a couple of their beer wines(yup, it’s a combo — or were they called wine ales? something like that) and they were really interesting. Then I enjoyed a glass of the lotus blossom white merlot, which is really more of a rosé. My sisters like the blackberry merlot. The guy working the bar was very nice and let us stay for a bit after they technically closed to finish our game of Trivial Pursuit.
