Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and it was fairly full with people waiting for hibachi tables. We sat right down at the sushi bar and ordered hot tea, miso soup, and three rolls(AAC, Black Dragon, and one with plum and cucumber). All delicious and served up quickly! Our waitress was also very attentive and polite. Lastly, they give you a free little«dessert» of a cut up orange! So simple but it’s chilled and so refreshing! Will be back to try more rolls and the hibachi with friends.

The food is awesome, we generally love Saganos. We’ve been going to Saganos since the time that they were only in Flint, its great food and fairly consistent. Generally speaking the service is spectacular, we’ve introduced many people to Saganos, particularly at the Flint location and everyone was a fan. I am from the Fenton area, so I was really excited to see a Saganos go up in Fenton. The food is great at the Fenton location, and its no different than any other location that I have been to. The environment is cozy, the lighting is good, it’s a bit more linear in it’s layout than Flint or Clarkston, which is fine. With that being said, the service is hit or miss. We have ordered takeout a couple of times and the accuracy is not very good. We have been shorted on things a few times, and also when I’ve asked for a couple more of their side sauces they wanted to charge me… When you pay 30 per meal for take out, it should be a big deal to get a couple more 2 oz sides… Very petty. The other service issue is with one of their cooks. They have one cook whom if you take a kid in with you between the ages of probably 5 and 10, he will nag them till they are so embarrassed that they’ll never want to go here again. Some people might sadistically enjoy that, but it’s annoying. It ranges from saying something to the kid and saying«huh, what’s that –insert name that is purposely not your kids name-» the entire dinner, to finding another kid of the opposite sex and saying that your kid has a crush on them and then doing that the rest of the service. It’s sort of funny, but it gets stale pretty quick, then it just all gets annoying because it drags on and on and on. I’ve experienced it myself and seen it happen to others, and it always ends in exhaustion for the parent(s) and the poor kid. Don’t get me wrong, I love the entertainment at Saganos, and I understand this style of dinner service, but I don’t care for the antagonizing and it’s certainly made me avoid eating there.

This place rocks. Best family-friendly, date-friendly, happy, good time celebration spot in town. You don’t go for the quality of food(duh!), you go for the quality of experience, the fun and interactive chefs, the creative and packed full of ‘caviar’ sushi. For Fenton, can’t be beat. Service always with a smile(from the sushi chefs)!

They have excellent dumpling soup. I am not a sushi expert but it seems to be on par with the few sushi bars I have tried. Service is friendly and fast. Hibachi grill is excellent with lots of entertainment.

Well, this was just bad from the start. Saturday night in the middle of dinner rush we have bus boys rolling napkins at the table next to us. Then 3 different waitresses try to take our order. I order sushi my husband orders a dinner. The waitress can’t explain anything on the menu our appetizer comes and my sushi(which is falling apart on the plate) we wait and wait for his dinner which never comes but they bring us the bill three times! The third time I call uncle, I go to the cashier and say I just want to pay the bill! They charge me for everything except my husbands food! I took him to McDonald’s and will never go back!

Went into this restaurant with my family for my daughters birthday. All of us very much enjoyed our stay and our waitress was Hailey and she made the birthday so special for my family and the birthday girl! Very sweet and helpful, a great waitress/server! Everything tasted wonderful and food came out fast and hot and delicious. Hailey was extremely professional and made sure we had our drinks refilled at all times and made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely time with great food and family. Fantastic food, could not eat it all they give you so much. Definitely recommend and will be going back again very soon! Five

Came here for my birthday and again for a friend’s birthday. Sushi is good. Halley is a great waitress outside of that… TERRIBLE Seaweed salad was frozen. Yes, frozen. There was a chunk of glass in my friend’s beer mug. They took over an hour and a half to bring out the sushi. They are not quick to refill your drink. After all that they never offered to discount the bill. Also they will not allow you to sit unless you have your entire party. 10 of us were here but 1 person had not arrived. They made us wait over 30 mins until they got here.

My first review on Unilocal is inspired by Freddy the sushi chef Sagano in Fenton. The sushi there is terrific, creative and delicious. Freddy is talented, creative and very sweet. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is fabulous.

Having moved here from the coast of northern California I can truly speak with the experience of having decades of eating exquisite sushi. Although fearing we would probably not find in Michigan the level is sushi we are accustomed to. Well I can say we have found a wonderful level sushi at Sagano in Fenton. Freddy the Sushi Chef is fantastic. He is very creative, attentive and is a master behind the sushi bar.

Love this place! Awesome food no matter if Ur at the grill or the sushi bar! Staff is all very friendly, I bring everyone I know there. They only serve beer and wine tho, it would be nice to have more options. I’ve wanted to go to the sushi bar with my girl friends several times but passed since they didn’t serve martinis! Otherwise it doesn’t disappoint!

Through a series of visits here, there have been good visits and there have been great visits. Tonight’s was an example of a great visit. Rolls can be inconsistent but we’ve found that the simpler rolls are executed well. We’ve tried the tuna roll, rainbow roll, dragon roll, and the tuna roll and rainbow roll are very good. Nice cool temperature in the fish without being too warm or cold and you can taste the flavor of the fish. That is always a plus in my book. The rolls are also tight, thus not falling apart when you pick them up. Tempura udon is better than nabeyaki udon, and at $ 8.95, it’s a great affordable option that will fill your stomach. I only wished they would offer more garnishes like onions, chopped scallions, and other vegetable tempura to fill out the bowl. It’s nice that they offer the two shrimp tempura though. They are breaded and fried nicely, and a great size too. Tonkatsu was delicious and at $ 12.95 a good value. Two 8oz. pieces of pork cutlet were plenty for both Husband and me. It was pounded thin and breaded and fried well. The meat had great flavor and it wasn’t rubbery. Our waitress was nice enough to split two bowls of rice, and the small side garnishes of sliced cucumber, red cabbage and tomato was a nice finish to the meal. We’ve had a mixture of wait staff and I would have to say they have all been good. The flow of the restaurant is a bit awkward, but with the hibachi being their main feature, it’s understandable. They have a back door that you can enter, but it’s a little cumbersome to have to walk all the way up front to just come back to be seated. I would suggest that they have some signage near the sushi bar that could indicate seating at the bar or table. Overall, I would come back and get the tonkatsu and udon. If you’re feeling adventurous, grab a seat at the bar and let the sushi chefs craft you a personal menu.

Wow wish there was a 0 star option, went for a late lunch today with 3 friends, we were seated at the hibachi table, 5+ minutes later a waitress drops by we ask to start with ice water, 5 minutes later she drops off the water and basically never returns, the chef ignored us, the 2 people working the door just looked lost, and a busboy in a tshirt 3 sizes to small paced around the room looking busy, yet doing nothing, 10 minutes later we decide to get up and leave, 20 minutes into lunch we had water, as we walked out the waitress asked«is there a problem?» We tell her it’s been 20 minutes just for water, she responds with I have to write a check to the delivery man, I’m thinking you’ll never be able to pay the vendors if you don’t First take care of the people that give you the money to put in the bank account. First time visit for the 4 of us and it will be the last.

Will never go back. Rude employees. Slow servers who think that paying their vendors are more important than guests. My friends & I wanted hibachi for lunch and had a little over an hour to do so. We got sat at the grill & waited for 5ish minutes before someone came over to ask for drinks. The waitress explained nothing of the menu or what they do on a hibachi grill. We waited… And waited… and waited for someone to take our order & start lunch. After a total of 20 minutes, we walked out & were told by waitress(maybe a manager too?) that she was just writing a check & she was coming right back. You won’t be writing many more checks if you can’t keep people in the seats.

Slow service. Decent food. The food was good once they got moving. We arrived at 5:00. Once our party was arrived it still took 10 – 15 minutes just to be taken to the table. There were about 5 – 6 employees standing around doing nothing but no chefs. Then we slowly got our drinks. Then slowly got the soup and salad. They only have two cooks so if more than 2 groups show at the same time you will be waiting! It’s just like every other hibachi style place except slower. Oh… and if you get sat near the window you will roast in the sun as there are no shades. We will not return. Not worth the price in my opinion. Sorry Fenton. This place won’t last.

Great food and I love the staff. Sitting at the sushi bar is great, watching the chefs carefully prepare the sushi is one of my favorite things. The restaurant has 2 halves, one of traditional japanese food and the other is a teppanyaki. Both are delicious The layout inside is kind of strange, it gets cramped inside often and I’ve seen it get pretty disorganized and even mess up the flow of the restaurant. This joint has been open since decemberish so they should have this stuff sorted out by now.

We have visited this location before and had average service. We visited yesterday and were told by the greeter there would be a 20 minute wait. We took a seat in the bar area and began to wait. The wait was closer to an hour– much more than the 20 minutes we had been told. My brother tried to order a drink at the bar and the greeter/bartender started to take his order and then turned around and walked away from him. It was another 15 minutes until he was able to get a drink from the greeter/bartender that was running around on his cell phone at the same time he was making drinks. Once at our table, we had a very nice waitress. That was when my husband found what appeared to be a receipt in his soup. He alerted our nice waitress right away and she assured him that it wasn’t a receipt– it was a label from one of the containers of food in the back. This did not make him feel better. She offered him another soup, and he was not feeling like soup any longer, and declined. The rest of our meal went as planned for a visit to a hibachi grill. At the end of the meal, we were brought our bill. My husband asked if he could talk to a manager about what had happened with the soup. A lady then came out and very coldly handed him a new bill and said«Are you the one who had something in your soup? I took 15% off.» She turned around and walked away. No apology or even care to know about the incident. We all just sat there confused about the customer service. After the visit we will not be back anytime soon– between the wait time/bar situation and customer service I have no desire to spend money there.

It was pretty good. A little on the expensive side, but I guess that’s what you get at any Hibachi place.
