As a person who grew up in the Ferndale school system, I think many Ferndalites would have to agree that it’s not the most exciting city on the planet. Some might even say boring. There’s got to be a pretty good reason to get you out of your chair and drive in your car to Ferndale. Luckily — for local residents and others — such a place exists. It’s Maggie’s Pub. Born from the ashes of the old Frank ‘n Stein, Maggie has brought craft beer deliciousness to this tiny burg. Although the food selection is a bit limited, mostly sandwiches and meat of the tubular variety, I’ve always found it to be of the highest quality and extremely tasty. And did I even mention Pie-Day-Friday? All-in-all, a compelling reason to point your car towards Ferndale the next time you’re thirsty for a good brew.

Maggie’s is a great little hole-in-the-wall, featuring a great beer list, beer-knowledgeable staff, good pub grub and, on Fridays, amazing pies and occasionally an equally amazing dessert. But let’s be clear, the food is secondary — you come to Maggie’s for the beer and the people. The staff at Maggie’s are always friendly and attentive although when it’s is crowded, they’re super busy, so you’ll probably need to order at the bar rather than wait for someone to come to your table to serve you. This is a very minor first-world problem, and if this kind of thing bothers you, there are chain restaurants nearby where you’ll feel more at home. Maggie’s has the feel of a neighborhood pub and you’re likely encounter a group of friends, a mom’s group, or an after-work unwinder during your visit. Unlike a few neighborhood pubs I’ve visited, this hasn’t resulted in Maggie’s devolving into a clique-only hangout — offer a comment to a group of locals chatting it up and you’ll find yourself being included as though you were a regular.

This is a strictly beer and wine joint. No hard liquor is available. The beer selection is quite extensive, and if you don’t know what to get, the friendly bartender will help you make a selection. Pub grub such as quesadillas, nachos, and reuben sandwiches are on the menu. I tried the bratwurst with saurkraut and cream cheese. Yes, you heard me correctly, they serve the kraut with cream cheese. Onions, ketchup and spicy mustard are slathered on the bun too. It was an unusual mix, but it worked. Not sure I would go out of my way to make this combo at home, but I certainly wouldn’t turn it down if it was served to me again. The bar is narrow and thin, unlike its patrons, so you are bound to bump into someone and strike up a conversation. A large screen television is hanging above the bar and showing seasonal games. Mariners beat the Giants the night I went. There are a few tables up front and tucked in the back of the bar along with the dart board. The place closes at 10 pm mid-week. The bartender will give you a 10 minute warning to close out your tab and finish your goodies. If I lived in town, I could see coming back here to hangout. It’s an enjoyable little hole in the wall.

Cute little hole in the wall. Not much seating. Decent tap list. Didn’t eat there, but the food smelled great!

Maggies is a great little bar. They know their beer! The taps are rotating and you can follow them on . The food is limited as it is all made behind the bar. This doesn’t mean that it is bad food as the brats we snacked on while enjoying some beers was well made and tasty. When in Ferndale this is a great little spot to just unwind.

Bellingham Beer Week! Maggie’s pub introduces 10 Barrel Bellingham Crush with locally owned & grown Barbies Berries making a smash out of this beer! Thank you so much to the Kraft family for using their berries in this way! This beer is luscious and refreshing… I am NOT a true beer fan and I love it! If you’re not from Ferndale its worth making the trip out for! My hubby is a TRUEBEER fan and he’s loving it too!

Ferndale has been in desperate need of a bar or pub where Bud Platinum isn’t the standard for fancy beer and Maggie’s meets that need. Maggie’s pub is an very inviting, intimate pub that offers great craft brews, friendly service and good pub food. It is the perfect place to go hang out with a friend and unwind after work. Their selection of beers changes very frequently so there is always something new on tap. They have all varieties of beer but focus on offering local brews. Restaurants and bars on Main Street never seem to last long, but I think Maggie’s has what it takes to be a Ferndale classic. If you haven’t stopped by yet, I strongly encourage you to give them a shot!

Good beer selection, great service. Food… Not so good. The feng shui is a little lacking. THAT being said, the ambiance is created by the regulars at this joint. Friends in Ferndale hang at Maggie’s, and coming here you get a little country taste outside of the ‘busy college/city life’ of Bellingham. I’ll stop in again for a pint or two next time I’m in the hood.

When in Ferndale, don’t miss a stop at Maggie’s. They have a great selection of microbrews, Maggie is super knowledgeable and helpful, and their food is good too(try the reuben). The place is tiny, but in a cozy sort of way. They even managed to squeeze in some space for darts. This is definitely our go-to hangout when we’re in Ferndale.

Best pub in Ferndale by a mile. Not that it takes much. But one of the best in Whatcom county. Great rotating tap. The only downside is that if you find a beer you like here, it will be gone in a week or two so drink it while you can. The owner, Maggie, knows her beer and runs a great little spot on Main Street.

Not that anyone in the Ferndale area reads Unilocal reviews or know what this site is, BUT on the off-chance someone does … Maggie’s Pub is the only place in Ferndale to get a legitimate selection micro-brews and IPAs. RIP«The Crossing», I moved back home too late and we never met. I recommend this as a «pre-funk» location before you tear off your sleeves and throw on a trucker hat to walk across the street to Outlaws. It’s a nice environment to maintain a conversation and I hear that Seahawk games are aired regularly. Make it rain!

We stopped in on a Sunday night at around 7 after a day of home brewing. It was my husband, our baby, our friends Megan and Jer and of course myself. We all ordered the turkey, bacon avocado special sandwich. Delish. Seriously good. I would order any sandwich Maggie puts together. I had the black currant cider in a large bottle, crisp and bitter. My husband liked the oatmeal stout. I liked that there was a bar and I could bring my baby. We played darts. It is a small place but a great spot for lunch or a beer. I highly reccomend it. The woman who own’s it is friendly and I hope to see a locally owned place succeed. Try out a beer, and bring your baby. Also really clean nice bathroom, which is nice for a pub.
