Outstanding brunch with the turkey hash and sour dough toast that was awesome. Quiche and salad was excellent too, as was the eggs Benedict. Bloody Mary tops it off.

I am rating the Emory 5 stars only because I have made a lot of friends there and don’t want to hurt their business at all. I still go there, but not nearly as often. I have been going since they opened. Judging by reviews, it looks like I’m not the only«regular» fed up with their brunch offering. There was a time when the Emory had a great brunch. It was priced right and was a quality experience that I miss a lot. Now the American classic is $ 9. From a quality stand point, nothing separates it from the same American Classic that is $ 4 everywhere else. I understand this isn’t a greasy spoon(although outside of lewis I’m not sure the quality of the chefs are) I was fine paying $ 6 – 7. I would be fine paying $ 9 even if it were good, but it’s not. It went up in price and down in taste appeal. I’m not sure how that works. The bacon is never cooked properly, and is super fatty. I would prefer to not have fries for breakfast, the O’brien potatoes were perfect, where did they go? They have had several different types of toast among the years, some great some not. For a while they were giving you 1 piece of toast with your eggs and then charging you $ 2 for each additional piece. I believe they gave up that idea, but it was a terrible policy. Lunch /dinner menu offers better consistency, and their pirogies are one of the best small plates available in ferndale(a city which basically only has small plates). But outside of that the menu is pretty boring. I avoid eating here but love to drink and socialize. But even that has slowed down for me. I mark the day when they didn’t renew the loyalties on their jukebox as the day this place started to trend down slightly. I get good service from my friends, but if you’re not at the bar good luck.

A group of us went there last night for some drinks. And, well, I’ve got to say that there are some things that just make places stand out from one another. When the place serves craft beer, I really enjoy the fact that the server knows what they are talking about. There was a tap-takeover with Rochester Mills that just started, and they were doing some fun flavors with their infamous Milkshake Stout. One of the people in our group is having to avoid milk for health reasons, and we were curious if there was milk… actually in the milkshake stout(I know, sounds stupid) The server said, «Let me go check.» and away she went. She seemed to be gone for a little, and we chuckled to ourselves saying… ‘watch, I bet she’s calling Rochester Mills to see if there is milk in there.‘ The server comes back and says… «I called Rochester Mills, and there is a very small amount of milk in there, so if you have an allergy to it, I would probably stay away from it.» What kind of a server… calls another establishment just to verify an ingredient? An awesome server. A DAMN awesome server. I would love to say a giant ‘Thank You’ to you. but I threw out the dang receipt. *doh!* You went above and beyond what I think is just a nice gesture. As far as the rest of The Emory, I really enjoyed the casual atmosphere, nothing too gawdy, nothing too uptight. It’s chill… its relaxed… its got a great atmosphere to it. I was rather impressed with it, and I cannot wait to go back to try out the food aspect.

The service was terrible. They had none of the beers on their own list. The server walked away from us mid order. My date’s walnut cherry salad was large and fresh. My sliders were over done and cold. The«onions» on the sliders looked like rehydrated French fried onions.

I’ve been coming here for brunch lately and the mimosas and food have been ONPOINT. My friend loves the bloody mary bar and dreams about these and I love the double mimosas. I had the duck bacon frittatta yesterday and frankly, it was to die for. Go here if you want drinks and brunch with a cool vibe.

Hamburgers the size of your head– burger deal on Tuesdays is totally worth it. Honestly the only reason I go here. It’s always kind of busy, at least when I go but there it’s not an unbearable wait.

Love the bacon grilled cheese here. Also discovered a great local brew on their menu(that I now look for in stores): Atwater Vanilla Java Porter. They have a wide variety of bottled and tap beers too. The sweet potato and beet salad with maple vinaigrette dressing is also great! Service is hit and miss, though. Sometimes they’re on top of their game and other times not. If it were consistent, I’d likely give this place 5 stars.

Eh, I could take it or leave it. I love that they have seating outside, but the service wasn’t the best and the menu is just ok. I ordered the bacon grilled cheese, FB4 ordered the venison burger, my boss ordered the jalapeño cheese pierogi’s and a bowl of chili(but rec’d a cup), and Andy ordered the venison salad. FB4 said his burger was good but very messy. The jam was everywhere! The pierogi’s were very delicious I’m told. Nice and spicy. The grilled cheese was a lot of «bacon jam» and hardly any spinach, which I’m sure would please some people but not me. I would prefer a more equal portion. I am not sure if it’s because we were sitting outside or just the waiter, but it took a very long time to receive our checks. Then when we did receive our checks my boss was rang up for a bowl like he ordered and not a cup like he received. Oh, and they charge extra for ranch with the fries! We ended up being there for about an hour and 15 minutes. Not a quick lunch spot if that’s what you are looking for.

I had high hopes when coming in but found myself disappointed with the lack of service throughout the evening. The food was decent and they had a pretty menu to choose from for dinner. But our server was mostly absent and didn’t check in at all or refills any our waters during the entire meal. It was just disappointing because it seemed like it could have been better. I’ll probably come back because second chances should happen but my expectations will be much lower.

The Emory isn’t my favorite spot in Ferndale, but it’s definitely one that I go to occasionally for a drink. In that sense, it’s great. Usually good service(although I did recently have one server who continued to forget about us and heard other tables in the area complaining as well), a lot of drinks to choose from, and the goat cheese app is the bomb, if I’m still allowed to say that after 1999. However, I went for brunch this past weekend and was underwhelmed. We went because it was a nice day and we wanted to sit on a patio and have brunch, so it seemed like the logical choice since not everywhere has Saturday brunch. The biggest issue I had was that when we ordered our food, they wouldn’t let you substitute anything. I get it, it’s annoying, but my friend only wanted to add cheese to her omelette, and I asked to have veggie sausage on my eggs benedict instead of canadian bacon. I can understand the veggie sausage a little more, but seriously, you can’t add cheese to your omelette? The reason is written on the menu, and I can’t remember the exact wording, but they basically say it’s because it takes extra time for substitutions when your food is cooked. Whatever. I instead had to pay for a side of veggie sausage, and they didn’t even put it under the egg on the english muffin and put it to the side. I’m sorry, but that doesn’t take any more time to do than to put the canadian bacon on it, whether I’m paying for it or not. We were also one of like 5 tables, so I’m sure that substitution wouldn’t set the kitchen back any time. The food was just mediocre as well. I didn’t think it was even close to the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had mostly because the eggs weren’t poached, they were sunny side up(although I can’t remember if the menu said that or not, so that may be on me). My friends also thought the food was just alright, nothing special. But the one thing we all agreed on was that the fries they serve in place of hash browns were SO salty. I usually don’t even notice if something is over salted, but this was extreme. The one thing that I did really enjoy was the iced coffee, which had a lot of liquor, but it better for the $ 9 price tag. All in all, I spent $ 40 with tip on a brunch that wasn’t worth the bill. So stick to the goat cheese and drinks, and you’ll see the better side of The Emory!

While the Emory was not one of my favorite eateries for a long time, it has quickly risen in rankings. Their excellent service and consistently tasty plates have had me and my co-workers returning regularly. Let’s start with the service. Emory gets the lunch crowd. They know if you walk in wearing a suit that you most likely WORK in the area and are part of a business lunch. Service is polite and takes your orders promptly. Food is delivered with equal timeliness and one rarely has to ask for the check. The food is good. Not great — but good. A diverse menu with vegetarian options makes it an ideal place for clients and colleagues alike. Reasonably priced and a bar make it a great place as well.

Fantastic bloody mary bar! And our server, Angela, is the best. Very attentive and friendly. (PS: I’d give them 5 stars, but the kitchen folks are reluctant to make substitutions to your meal, so diners be forewarned… otherwise, everything is awesome).

You know what the only thing about the Emory I don’t like… the floor. Weird right? As a girl who loves her heels this beautiful polished sort of concrete floor just doesn’t work well for me. I always feel like I’m going to slip lol. The service is always on point at the Emory! ALWAYS! Want to drink something local like Valentine Vodka or something silly Like a tiny little bottle of beer called a Little King(which is delicious btw). The food oh the food! The 3 cheese mac… SWEETBABY J!!! SOGOOD! Its a pretty decent size serving its for sure one you could share. They have duck sliders… helloooo where else can you find that in metro Detroit? Bruch the Emory is known for their great brunch. So if you are out on date and want a place to get drinks and food I highly suggest The Emory… or if you are just meeting up with your peeps for good times The Emory will work. Just go its a great spot! Let me know though I’ll meet you for a drink! :)

Went here for brunch & I really like the look of the inside & the staff was really friendly. We did wait a good 10+ minutes before we even got water but aside from that the service was good. The brunch cocktail menu was great, my friends enjoyed the bloody mary bar & I enjoyed a couple of mimosas though I wish they offered bottomless. The food was pretty standard & the menu on the small side… I had a basic breakfast of eggs, toast, meat & fries so it’s kind of hard to screw that up. Everyone else had other foods & they all said it was good but not great so I’m sure I’d come back here again if I were in the area though I don’t know if I’d make a special trip for it.

Went for brunch in Saturday and it was wonderful!!! First the fact that there was no line was unbelievable because breakfast was so good we couldn’t believe it was no wait for a table. Had a wonderful omelet called the Merican which was bacon and Ham and American cheese. The potatoes served as a side were delicious and I could have had those alone as a meal. The Bloody Mary bar looked fantastic but we ended up ordering a delicious drink from the specialty drink list that reminded us of a mimosa on steroids! Great place! Great service too!

I’ve been here a couple of times. The service is good, the atmosphere is pretty cool, and he food is fine. I got the venison sandwich; the jam was a good touch but the meat was kind of dry and seemed slightly overcooked. My wife got the duck burger, the meat was again dry and overcooked. And everyone in my party that ordered coffee got lukewarm coffee served to them. So overall, it was fine. But I would not recommend it. There are much better choices around.

I didn’t hate the Emory, but overall it just seemed pretty average. My brother-in-law and sister LOVE coming here. They likely know something I don’t. Though, to be fair, it was busy when the better half and I went, and we waited a while for our food. The burger was good, but not great, so again I’m left to assume that coming here is more about being a cool kid and less about being a hungry one.

I believe this place is owned by the same group that owns the WAB and Loving Touch. Like those places, it has a great beer selection, and a surprising menu. I will particularly highlight this places sliders. In spite of being in the neighborhood with stiff competition, including a bar that specializes in sliders, I feel that this place as the BESTSLIDERSINFERNDALE. They are absolutely no frills, but juicy and delicious and served with a cup of au jus. This is just my humble opinion, but I have tried many sliders in the metro Detroit area, including those from celebrated institutions and the new gourmet sliders joints, and these slider beat them all. On top of that, the place is easier than most Ferndale spots to grab a seat on the weekend.

I’m torn between«meh» and«a-ok»…and since I’ve only had the two trips here, I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Service can be slow, and the drinks are definitely on the pricey side. Food was so-so, definitely not as good as I was expecting the way a few folks have raved about it in the past. I won’t go out of my way to avoid coming back here… but it’s not on my list of things to go out of my way to get back to, either.

Had the blue cheese burger. Very solid. Love that the meat was from Fairway in the Eastern market. A bit heavy on the blue cheese but otherwise well recommended. Bloody mary brunch bar on weekends. Very solid bloody mary. Ambience a bit bland and would like padded seats since the booths and bar seats were a bit hard to sit on. Very few people know what a dark n stormy is so impressive they sell this to die for drink. Hopefully they make it w Gosling’s and Barritts ginger beer.
