Very disappointed. We called and asked what their hours were and we were 109−5pm. We drove over an hour each way. I took off work to be able to go with my husband on his day off. We get there at 12pm and it’s closed! Gate locked and all! No note! No hours posted nothing! Very unprofessional! You can’t just close up whenever you want when you own a business and not even leave a note! We called the cell phone number listed numerous time. Left messages. Waited over an hour because we really needed stuff for a project. No responses at all! No call back! This is not how you should conduct a business! We drove really far! The only way I would go back is if we got a discount!

Replaced all of my water sucking ground cover and other assorted lovelies with succulents . Driving on the 126 about a zillion times for work, I noticed this bare bones but vast and plentiful cactus/succulent haven! Do yourself a favor… Put on comfies, bring cash, and have a little spare time to spend. It’s low-key. It’s stocked with choices galore. The prices are unbelievably reasonable… Even a landscape guy said so! If you go home empty handed — you probably weren’t in the mood for succulent shopping anyway !

If Ventura was matching funds with me know o convert my yard from grass to xeriscape, my first stop would be Cactus World. This place began as a tiny yard with a few cacti and succulents and has grown to the diverse, extensive nursery of low-water plants you’ll find today. From the mild-climate crassulaceae thriving in this coastal realm to the cactus, agave, yuccas, aloes and euphorbs of the hot desert world, this is an Eden for the Elves and Adams of the dry garden world. No snakes, just a few spines and hooks. Many species are unarmed and relatively painless. There a also giant, beautiful specimen plants. Rrrrrrowlll.

Anytime I go out of town I check for interesting stops on our way. I noticed this place and their glowing reviews and knew I had to check it out. After all, my succulent collection could use some new additions. We ended up passing this place as there wasn’t a visible sign. Came around the back side and parked in the small dirt lot. The entire lot was empty, and we were worried this wasn’t the place, but we saw an Open sign and headed in. In the back was a truck being loaded with trays full of succulents. As we passed, not one person told us hello. It was a little odd. We walked passed the rows and rows of clay pots into a greenhouse full of succulents from 4″ pots and up. We grabbed a cart and loaded up. We ended up buying about a dozen plants. Since it’s a cash only place, I was a little worried what our total might be. There was very little signage on prices, so I wasn’t even sure. We ended up having to track down and employee to make our purchase. He sat and calculated our total and came up with $ 30. Sounds good to me! We handed over our $ 30 and wheeled out our newly acquired plants. To put it simply, this is a place you come to fill up your yard with cacti and succulents. Don’t expect to find world class service or beautifully landscaped grounds. Save that for those fancy Santa Barbara nurseries. Then come back here and buy your plants.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! My mom and I discovered this hidden gem(it’s literally hidden, it sneaks up on you when you’re on the 126) a couple of years ago and it’s become our tradition to go back every few months to stock up on succulents. The plants I’ve gotten here have absolutely flourished in my yard and in the pots I put them in. The selection and quality can’t be beat! I have seen different variations of succulents and cactus there that I have never seen anywhere else. Cactus Mart has the best prices BYFAR and the guys working there are very friendly and helpful. Just make sure to bring your checkbook or cash, as they don’t accept credit cards(last time I was there, anyway). I can’t wait to go back with my mom in a couple of weeks!

I’ve driven by here more times than I can count always with the intent on stopping by one day. When the Mrs decided we were redoing our front garden with succulents, I knew where I was headed. This operations is as bare-bones as you can expect, with cacti and succulents spread out from the entrance to the fenced-off growing area in the back. Armstrong Nursery this isn’t but I’ll take great prices and quality over a «pretty» nursery any day. At a $ 1.95 for their 2″ pots, we stocked up with two flats and even picked up a few 4″ pots to add some variety. Lots to choose from with some unique varieties that will look great in your garden. We walked up to their«payment area» which you can’t miss when you walk in and waited probably 30 seconds(and this was during both visits) before someone friendly came over to help. Cash only and open Thurs to Sun so plan accordingly!

I love this nursery! It’s a diamond in the rough! There’s a huge selection of cacti, succulents, and euphorbias, but every time I visit I’m the only customer there. The stuff is pretty cheap too compared to other nurseries. I’ve seen plants here sold for twice as much in other places. They have lots of the rarer and more interesting plants here that are hard to find! All of the plants look very healthy too. Definitely visit! It’s worth the trip!

I first saw Cactus Mart on our way to a camping trip. This weekend, two months after we first saw it, we decided to make a special trip out to Fillmore to check it out. I had read online that it was a no-credit card type of place, so we got cash first.(Note, there are no banks or stores nearby to get cash at, so bring it with you.) The selection was amazing. Row after row of great looking plants. So many I could have easily spent $ 300. But we only $ 100 with us, so we were careful and picked only what we really wanted. They have pre-potted options, in some nice looking pots. And many, many options you can pot yourself, along with plenty of pots to choose from. The prices are super reasonable — we left with what should have been $ 200 worth of plants and accessories for $ 74. Everything we bought has been a great addition to our patio. I’m going to wait a couple of months to see how these fare(I will repost if they don’t do well), and then we’ll be going back to buy more.

What a find!!! I was looking for reasonably priced succlent plants to fill my modern custom saucer planters in front of my home at the local popular garden center. After lamenting about the mediocre selection to a worker there, he kindly clued me into the fact that there are some great succlent nurseries off the CA126 near Fillmore. He didn’t give us the name but after doing a search online we found this place. It was even opened on Sunday. The drive on the 126 was beautiful and there were plenty of road side stands with fresh produce at bargain prices(like avacados 4 for $ 1) — I was in heaven. Cactus Mart had fantastic variety of healthy plants and prices that could not be beat. We found agaves that were a third less that the local garden shop, an amazing variety of succlents, unusal cactus specimens that looked other worldly, beautiful pottery, and garden tchotchkes. The negatives were that they didn’t take credit cards so I had to write a check. I also had to wait a while before someone came to the register to ring me up but I got over it quickly when I heard the total and realized it was much less than I thought. This was a very happy day for me and now my planters look so cool filled with all the weird looking succlents.
