Genmai Sushi Restaraunt

They Bowls are So Good Love Going here on my lunch break they have big portions at a good price! They staff is really nice and friendly this placenis awesome! We definitely keep coming here for there food:)

I went here about a month ago with my family. We were able to sit down right away which was great because soon after the place was packed! The sushi there was decent to other places I have been before. And I happen to love sushi so I’ve been to many. The employees were nice but I’d say they would need to brush up on knowing their menu better. And getting around to all their tables quicker. Maybe it was a lack of staff. But anyways it was an overall good experience. I would return again to see if they have amped up their game.

It’s always a sad day to visit a restaurant with a good Unilocal review, only to find out it’s bad.
Was really excited to try this place!!! It’s close to my boyfriends house, and I absolutely love sushi, so when we saw the good reviews, we were pretty pumped! Too bad it does not live up to the hype it’s getting.
I ordered the tempura California roll, and the box that came with rice, miso, tempura vegetables, salad, a small California roll, and Beef Teriyaki. The California roll in the box tasted like it had been purchased at the grocery store. The rice had a strange taste to it as well. Not appetizing at all. The tempura California roll was bad as well, it just tasted kind of soggy?
My boyfriend ordered the New York steak teriyaki which also came with rice, miso soup and some vegetables.
Our waiter was kind of all over the place. He gave us our dinner without our rice or miso soup, and we sat there kind of confused for a while, assuming they were going to bring them out. They didn’t, and we ended up having to ask. The miso soup tasted like hot water with tofu in it. I took two sips and gave up because it was just so tasteless.
The only thing good about either of our meals was both of our steak teriyaki’s. But not good enough to ever come back again!

It’s really nice to welcome this new restaurant to Fillmore. Genmai sushi now gives locals the luxury of having great sushi without driving a half hour to Ventura, Oxnard or Valencia.
The last time I was here, I ordered 6 rolls and by far, my two favorites were the Magic roll and the Spicy California. The rolls had great style, presentation and tasted even better. The girls who were working in the restaurant at the time were super friendly but you could tell they were still trying to figure things out.
I asked if they gave a military discount and they offered 15 percent off my check.
I would offer up a 5 star rating but they aren’t quite there yet. With some fine tuning and tweaking this place will be amazing. It would be nice to see a sushi happy hour or maybe nights with specials. Overall, I’m a fan and hope to see this place as part of Fillmore for years to come.
