My husband and I have been visiting and shopping in Door County for the 12 years that we’ve now been married. Four years ago I stopped in to Red Sock yarns and bought some very expensive yarn for a project that I wanted to work on during our stay there. I have a ball winder and swift at home, but that was at home so not much good for me. I went back to Red Sock the day after I spent hundreds of dollars on yarn and asked the clerk if I could have one skein wound into a ball. The clerk replied that I could leave it with them and pick up the ball in two days or so. I volunteered that I had wound many a skein of yarn and asked if I could wind it myself. The clerk responded in a very icy tone of voice that customers are not allowed to use their equipment as they did not want to be responsible if we hurt ourselves. She was so rude that I just wanted to leave the store and never come back. I sent an email to the shop’s website and the owner himself responded that his daughter is the one who I had spoken to and that she would never be rude to a customer, and he added that I am forever«banned» from his shop!!! I’ll never go there again, nor will any of my fiber friends.

I love this place! My family vacations in Door County every few years to visit my grandparents and I finally took the time to scout out some yarn stores. The girl at the counter and I chatted for a long time about Ravelry and shared some patterns with each other. She explained how to use a swift and a ball winder and recommended a really nice fingering weight yarn for a shawl I was making. This place is a real treasure for any yarn lover.

Charming yarn store with a great variety of yarns with out being overwhelming. Daughter of the owner could not be more helpful and passionate about her business. They have couches where my husband sat as I browsed around table where you can it and knit. They have everything there you could need and great colors to choose from.
