Bar Rio Taco and Tequila Bar

. The food was Ok, but the service was far below what I would expect from a new place trying make a good impression.

This is my first review on Unilocal although I have been to quite a few restaurants and tried a ton of food in my life time. My boyfriend and I moved to Indy about 7 months ago from what few people know is a huge foodie city, Cleveland, OH. Boy, do we miss the food! While most places in Indy have not met the mark compared to our beloved CLE, Bar Rio Taco and Tequila bar which JUST opened in Fishers is different.
When you pull up you might not be too excited to see it is in a strip mall but when you walk in the ambiance takes you to into an authentic Mexican feeling bar/​restaurant but with some modern touches. There is nice color on the walls and a mural in the main dining room as well as bikes throughout the restaurant. This really hit home for us because our favorite taco spot in Cleveland is called Barrio (one word) and also has bikes throughout.
Service was fine, not stellar on the part of the waitress but nothing to complain about. The chef sent us out some free Ghostpepper Queso as we were the only ones in there on a Tuesday evening. Delicious but I didn’t get the spice that the menu described. Chips and salsa were not on the house but the prices here you really can’t beat so we didn’t mind spending $ 3 for bottomless chips and salsa.
Now the important part, the TACOS! You have to choose which taco you want and you cannot mix and match which is the only downside. Luckily my boyfriend was willing to share his. I chose the chicken and he chose the carne asada. I got 3 tacos with 2 corn tortilla shells on each for $ 5! And he got the same for $ 7! What a steal. There was plenty of meat on them and they all came with some standard toppings as well as each having their own twist. Plus you can add some of your favorites: sour cream, tomatoes, onions, etc for very cheap. Definitely reccomend for any taco lovers out there!
