Not every town can boast an 80+ year old bar with tin ceilings and tons of character. Fitchburg should consider itself lucky to have a place like Boulder Café. While this is not a beer bar, all but the most fickle of beer snobs should be able to find something in the lineup of craft beers on tap. Oh, and the prices are hard to beat, everything we ordered seemed to be $ 4.50. The decorations that have accumulated over the years are enough to keep you amused through several drinks and this is an exceedingly pleasant place to spend a couple hours. My only complaint is that it also serves as a sports bar and the Patriots were in a playoff game during my visit. The only audio in the place at that time was the TV and the understandably excited fans. That being said, Boulder Café is a must visit for any bar aficionados who find themselves in Fitchburg.

I’ve heard friends of mine compare this place to a dive bar and I digress. The Boulder has a uniqueness and charm like no other bar in the area. The décor of the bar itself really sets it apart with the wooden tables and items from years gone by. The crowd is very nice and the people who were there were very down to earth. The bar staff is friendly and helpful. The best part is the selection! I was highly surprised and delighted to find out that Mckenzie’s hard cider on tap there. Overall, The Boulder is a place in Fitchburg with a hidden charm that really pays for a visit at least once or more than once.

Friendly and clean. Best place in town to grab a beer. Has an invisible force field that wards off DBs.

Accidently walked in while they were having a private party, but they were so welcoming and allowed us to stay as they were«officially» opening in 15 minutes anyways. The bartender was SUPER friendly, they had a really good beer menu and great classic rock. They also had a garnish your own Bloody Mary stand, which included bacon on a stick, which was very cool. I am not sure how busy it gets on a Friday/Saturday night, as we went on a Tuesday night. It seems like a mixed age group(we are in our 30’s and didn’t feel out of place). We will be back!

The Boulder is a great neighborhood bar. It’s comfortable and friendly and the original woodwork, booths etc… Add to the pleasant atmosphere. It a little snug on a Saturday night, but nit uncomfortable. It is definitely a place where everyone knows your name.

Quaint historic bar with a great vibe and good draft beer. Original booths, ceiling & bar all spiffed up. Outdoor seating in warm weather with a nice view of Fitchburg’s Upper Common park. Nice place to drink. Good selection of bottled micro-brews.

A newly restored historical landmark, the Boulder Café offers a place to get away from the crowds and enjoy a libation or two with friends. Great selection of beer and liquors, plasma TVs, and lively staff make this a home away from home.
