We were staying at Topaz for a getaway for my brides birthday and decided to eat at the Island Grille. What a find! We had the shrimp appy and were blown away. The filet mignon special the night we were there was perfectly cooked to order. Only 3 words required, Bacon, Blue cheese, butter. OK that’s 4 words. Absolutele great food and wait staff.

Gourmet. Great breakfast and dinner! Large breakfast portions. Eggs scrambled just right, delicious rye toast(I later learned from a local bakery). Yummy home fries 4 strips of delicious thick bacon. Great coffee. Service was spot on too. Was just how I want my breakfast to taste. Went back for dinner. Had lunch portion of filet mignonette. Delicious!!! Hubby had the quesadilla appetizer(wonderful) and the chicken bowl entrée. Could not stop complementing the dish. So delicious but we were still so full from breakfast we couldn’t finish our meals! Key lime cheesecake to go was great. Waitress was wonderful. Our 1yr wedding anniversary dinner. Both meals enjoyed outside with a romantic view of the ocean. When we come to Flagler we have everything we need in one spot, historic Topaz Motel and the Island Grille and the beach across the street! Love love love

Just had a meal that was truly gourmet! We raved about the rack of lamb(which I had two days earlier at 386 — their chef should take lessons from the Island Grill chef); the red snapper was fresh and delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. For those naysayers who think Blue disappeared — you’re wrong. Gary is back and still making dishes that make your mouth water and stomach satisfied! Our waitress Roseann, who I recognized from the Elks, was as professional as she’s ever been and very attentive. One of the owners came over to make sure we were happy with our meals and talked with us for a while. The whole experience was fabulous especially the check which was un-Blue like and very reasonable(I mean a glass of wine — only $ 4.00?) check it out for dinner… you’ll be happy you did! Haven’t tried lunch or breakfast but will in the future.

I love this place = the spicy pecan salad is my favorite! Everyone is so nice and the menu has many food choices — and of course the beach view is fabulous!

Went for the Sunday Brunch. Very disappointed! ! Shrimp was not cleaned – didn’t eat that, Grits were all cracked on top — didn’t eat that. Spare ribs looked like scrapes because there were only 3 small pieces and no one was interested in saying more are coming — didn’t eat that! Waitresses wondered around like they didn’t know what they were doing. Kicker was that when the three of us got back to our table 2 of our silverware was gone. …and when ask for some they couldn’t find any. Meanwhile our food was getting cold! Went to a gentleman to get some and finally he came back with silverware but he was not concerned that our food was cold or that our silverware was taken. Not a thing on our plate was worth going back for. …and of course, we won’t be going back or will we recommend it either.

Great place with wonderful service and a romantic setting. The food was delicious! I had the wasabi salmon and it was perfectly cooked with the right amount of sweet and spicy! I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to eat at Flagler Beach.

very impressed with the new restaurant. homemade breads, tables overlooking themwater, presentation was excellent. ordered a classic style french dip au jus split between my date and I, it was so good! real steak cut fries! Prices are great-cheaper than the old Blue– and so are wine pours. I had a Dukes Brown Ale draft from the brewery in Jax. our new Flagler Beach favorite! here’s a picture of one half of the french dip au jus-they split in between two plates, which was very nice. Burgers looked wonderful, again on fresh baked buns, which makes a big difference.

I really don’t think you get what you pay for here. I went there for dinner and their entrees average about 26 $, and there isn’t a big selection. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and our server asked if I would like a soup or salad. I asked if it came with the meal,(it didn’t) and then ordered the lobster bisque. The flavor of the soup was good but there was one chunk of lobster in the center of the bowl and that was it. My roommate who I was out to dinner with asked if they serve bread rolls and we were told that if we wanted bread it would be 50 cents per roll. I found it extremely ridiculous that when your paying that much for your meal, it comes with neither a salad or bread. My meal was tasty, it was a good size piece of fish and the rice and sauce were very good as well. The service was good also, our server was very accommodating but when it comes down to what you get for what price it really isn’t worth it.

Ate there this week for lunch outside and it was fine. The wasabi on the salmon was a tad too sweet with the honey and thick. Was expecting true wasabi taste. Service was great, etc. Tonight we went there at 5 pm for dinner and the hostess seemed hesitant to seat us inside(our guest wanted to be inside), but she did and the waiter came over to and said wait a sec and went away and did not come back forever. We saw him huddled in corner talking to hostess, and others and seemed in a tizzy. Bartender came in and asked if anyone had taken our drink order and we said no and the waiter appeared really quick. He said he did not know if we knew there were reservations for 6:30 and so forth. Mind you, we are there at 5 pm and going to order and go. We were trying to beat the rush! He was just so disorganized and with the hostess that way too, we just decided to leave. So disappointing and embarrassing as we had brought a guest who had never been before. Not sure I’d ever go there for dinner again.

We have eaten here twice since they opened. The service and food are outstanding. There is now more porch tables since they remodeled and opened as the Island Grill. The wine selections are excellent and reasonably priced. The several fish dishes that we have tried have all been outstanding. Love the duck spring rolls.

Tonight I stopped in, I had a vast sampling of their appetizer menu. I couldn’t make up my mind so we started with conch fritters, perfection! Followed by a bowl of lobster bisque where a nice heaping mound of lobster was centered in the bowl. I spread it thru the soup for a bite of lobster in every spoonful. My husband left his center and enjoyed it as if it were the whole tail! We then shared Wasabi oysters… they had an abundance of flavor! Duck egg rolls where just, how can I describe, like heaven maybe… and the tuna salad over cabbage salad. I have found my newest local hotspot! Well done… and by the way… andndsk for Shannon to be your server… she is super knowledgeable about the menu and can help guide you to your best choice of the evening. thanks to everyone at the Island Grill… you made me a happy woman!

‘Blue’ pricing… But not ‘Blue’ quality. We heard the restaurant was opened and stopped to give it a try. Guess we should have read the reviews first. I start by saying we will NOT be going back. But I sure would like my money back. The tables were pretty baron, no salt or pepper on our table. The waitress was really nice, but had to be apologetic the whole time due to the kitchens performance. I ordered the Mahi Mahi, $ 18 and my husband ordered The Duck, $ 28. We also ordered the Lobster Bisque, $ 6… That was good but for the price there should have been more in the very large bowl they bring it out in. There is no bread while you wait, and no side salads. Both highly needed, especially for the meal prices. While waiting for our meals I had a clear view of the kitchen, and was disgusted when I viewed one of the cooks pick at his nose, wipe his hand on a towel, and continue working with food. DISGUSTING!!! My husbands duck dinner was ok, but no where near the quality of what Blue offered. It was also very very fatty, with barely any meat. My meal. Well let’s see. I cut into the fish only to reveal a dark red, not cooked center. At best they may have seared one side. I sent it back, and surprisingly the waitress brought out a brand new plate within a minute. This one was cooked. It was sliced down the center so obviously they checked this one. I began eating only to be immediately overwhelmed with the taste of salt. It wasn’t just a little salty, salt was all I could taste and it was making me sick. It was if the fish had cut, then left to soak in salt water, a whole bottle of salt dumped on it, then some panko breading with more salt, then served… With overly salted sides. I’m not over exhausting here. I just could not eat it. The waitress walked over and I told her what was wrong. She apologized and asked if I would like something else, maybe some fries or sweet potato fries??? I didn’t want another dinner and have to wait 20 mins as my husband was now finished with his food, so I opted for the Oo so generous sweet potato fries. Which we were charged for. No manager ever came to talk about the kitchen’s epic failure and supplying such an easy dish… Nothing. We only saw what might have been a manager once when I got my second dinner ate, and just asked if everything was ok, which I said yes now it is, but that was before I tried the fish. So… Beware. Gordon’s Fish Sticks are wayyy cheaper and much better. Sigh…$ 44 were not getting back o_o

Island Grille After all the hype we expected better, but our Father’s Day party of four was disappointed all around. We arrived mid afternoon so as to avoid potential crowds. There were none, so there was no apparent reason for… No bread or table accouterments; no dinner(side) salad. For the prices charged one would expect one or both of the above «Fresh cut» Mahi Mahi was VERY fishy & not fresh-tasting by any stretch of the imagination Bacon and blue cheese on the Wedge Salad were painfully sparse & the dressing was overly oily The server NEVER offered to refill water/beverages «Homemade» Ice Cream was served so soft & melted it resembled a bowl of liquid cream.(Hint: best NOT to serve such a monstrosity) «Homemade» Chocolate Cake was extremely bland and not worth eating. In most restaurants the server would have inquired as to satisfaction when the entire piece was left and a take-out box declined, but not here Needless to say, we won’t be back.

I had heard it opened with Gary as the chef… So glad I chose to bring dad and the family for his birthday… EXCELLENT!!! From the service, to the soup(lobster bisque) the dinners were Filet Mignon and the Braised short ribs… Bought absolutely delicious!!! Even the kids Mac n cheese … My daughter’s dinner, was wonderful… And a nice size portion, brought home leftovers! The pastries… Uhhhh… Wonderful!!! Had to try the key lime cheesecake!!! Can’t say enough!!! Will definitely be going back! Gary is a wonderful chef… The new décor is beautiful and the view of the ocean is just an added plus!!!
